“No one asked for this, But that hasn't stopped me before.” My general blog, where I post whatever I want for the 3 people that asked. Art blog is mantacid-art. Follow that one as well, as I tend to post things to the wrong blog quite often. | Mostly post random stuff here, but I am a math major, so that may show up every now and again. My work is not to be used by, for, or in any AI.

YouTube on Tuesday announced it’s beginning to roll out age-estimation technology in the U.S. to identify teen users in order to provide a more age-appropriate experience. The company says it will use a variety of signals to determine the users’ possible age, regardless of what the user entered as their birthday when they signed up for an account.
When YouTube identifies a user as a teen, it introduces new protections and experiences, which include disabling personalized advertising, safeguards that limit repetitive viewing of certain types of content, and enabling digital well-being tools such as screen time and bedtime reminders, among others.
97% of this website is about to become a teenager in the eyes of Big YouTube. it was always about control. it was never about anything else. i’m sure there will be ways to appeal that involve non-invasive measures such as giving them a picture of your license and a 3D scan of your body.

Lost amongst everything else happening right now is the fact that Congress and the White House are doing everything they can to disrupt a global plan to eliminate offshore tax havens. These efforts benefit no one except for a few big companies looking to dodge their taxes.

Chocolate package that says "imported from belgium", does cacao grow in belgium? No? Where does it grow? Congo, Ivory Coast, and Ghana? Brazil, Venezuela, and Peru? So why doesn't the package say imported from those places instead? Oh it's because all the peocessing is done in the imperial core and then they prevent those countries from being able to domestically process and export instead only allowing them to export raw materials and then forcing them to import the very products made from their exports except now it's marked up thousands of times.

So Tom Lehrer was Jewish, and you will see a lot of Jews, and people who know about Judaism saying, may his memory be a blessing, or z''l, which is short for the same phrase in Hebrew. and, in fact, I said may his memory be a blessing on another post. but there is another saying that is often said by Jews to mark a death, which I feel is much more appropriate. That phrase is Baruch dayan ha'emet, meaning "Blessed is the true judge." Baruch dayan ha'emet is often abbreviated as BDE.
I can't think of anyone who would more appreciate the double meaning in BDE than Tom Lehrer, or anyone who embodied the other meaning of BDE more.

Hey guys something fucking bad happened
KOSA/the kids online safety act has been reintroduced into legislature after it passed Senate last year and then got snubbed. It is not unlike the bill that just passed in the UK a few weeks ago. If you don't want what happened in the UK to happen here, now would be a good time to vocally oppose it.
Here is a petition that can be signed by Americans. Attached to the petition is an easy tool that allows you to call and leave messages for your representatives. I have already done so. You can also email your representatives by searching for their name, most have message submission boards as well. This thing died once, it can die again.
Please sign/share the petition and contact your representatives.
