Green Dragon | Imperial, 1983
Bro was #starving for so long he ate his own hand off. I have rescued him.
His wings are bendable! They’re made of a plastic that I’m unsure about the longevity of…honestly would not be surprised if there’s some poisonous potential in this toys materials. It feels like that sort of cheap plastic.

I really enjoy the simplicity of this toy. The design is cute, sleek, and the materials used are cuddly.

Heartwarmers Dinosaur | The Summit Collection/Summit Corp, 1993
I’m very charmed by this toy’s design. Reminds me of a 90s mascot in style, definitely Barney inspired I would guess.
This is from a line of gift toys that usually hold little hearts. I could not find any other pictures of this particular one, and you can see there’s no more heart, but there’s an obvious gap between its arms where a heart would go. I don’t think I will make a replacement though because I’m actually not a fan of toys that hold props.

Oteire Please Pikachu | Pokemon Center Japan, 2018
Nice to have found this with the tag still! From a limited edition merchandise line that was sold in Japan only. It needed a surface wash to remove some dirt smudges.

Playful Heart Monkey | likely Nanco, 2003-2005 approx.
Tush tag info has mostly worn away so I can’t read maker or year on it, but based on Ebay photos I made an educated guess at this toy’s origins.
He’s definitely a licensed toy, as he is made with noticeably lower quality materials than Care Bears plush made by AG/TCFC. Nanco is a common licensee and they use these kinds of materials often. It makes the toys look like bootlegs but nah, they’re just cheaply made to be crane game prizes/etc.

Webkinz Emperor Dragon | Ganz, 2009
He’s so cool and badass. But I think my fave part of him is that someone else has already repaired him—a massive rip was sewn up on his chest.

The fabric was cute and soft. Snoopy’s design looks good in many variations.

More simple repairs. Please forgive the blurry before photo of Brave Heart Lion, lol.
Brave Heart Lion had loose thread on his belly badge and a tear on his hand. Simple sewing repairs were made. His mane is really matted, so I will be hand washing it and combing it out in the future.
This bootleg dragonite pokedoll had a loose thread that when pulled resulted in the whole arm almost falling off. I sewed it back on and elected not to touch any other loose threads I saw. Smh, bootleg quality these days is so bad.

Tenderheart Bear | 2006
This bear got some major repairs! Unfortunately the only before photo I got was it next to my 1984 Tenderheart Bear, and it is from after I washed it. It was covered in brown stains, but they came out easily in a gentle wash cycle. It’s hard to tell in the photo, but the toy was also flattened, probably from its previous owner sleeping or sitting on it often.
So, I added more stuffing! To be clear, I overstuffed it past the level that the factory intended it to be—it has bean bags in it and is clearly supposed to be a floppy toy. I have a lot of plush toy opinions, and one of them is that it’s cheap and lazy to barely put any stuffing in a toy even if you want it to be floppy. On top of that, this toy is made with that really ugly, horrible, shiny clumpy threadbare polyester fur. I hate this material so fucking much. Nothing says “this toy is a thoughtless cash grab” more than using that material. Build A Bear uses it in their toys now and totally turned me off from them.
So, I stuffed this toy a lot to give it some kind of good quality, and sewed him back up. He now has dimensionality and feels very squeezable when you hold him. He will not be a permanent member of my collection, so I hope whoever gets him in the future agrees with my decision.

WHAT is bro so angry for…
This toy is really cheaply made and low quality. It’s made with thin crappy fabric and stuffed with styrofoam. I did not buy it because of that.

New record for oldest toy I’ve ever found at the thrift store! Exactly 50 years old and in really good shape.
