This page was hila〜arious, but also a really fun example of how Takahashi is switching up the formula for this series.

When Mao asks Nanoka to stay behind, declaring he must go face Yurako alone, this is a classic opportunity for Nanoka to become depressed.

He’s leaving her behind? To go see the one who loves him? Who has the same face as the one he loved?

(Not that I really buy he super in love with Sana to begin with, everyone just loves assuming—)

But before any of that can even cross Nanoka’s mind, Natsuno suddenly asks if she and Mao have become lovers - since from her (likely accurate) perspective, the reason Mao would want to keep Nanoka away from Yurako would be to protect her from being targeted like Sana was as yet another ‘love rival’.

And the result? Nanoka is ESTATIC!! Quite a refreshing turn indeed.

(Well, at least until we see what becomes of Mao and Yurako’s meeting next week…!)

I feel like ever since the firebug incident with Renji where he thought she might die, he’s been just terrified of something happening to her- and even better, he’s been vocal about it.

I don't know about you, guys, but everytime I see this scene I have the strong impression that Nanoka is actually staring at Mao's lips. Like, he gets close to check on her and she can't help but stare at his lips. That's why she doesn't answer immediately to his question, instead, she goes all "hm?". This girl is dreaming, I won't change my mind.

ALSO, I'm aware this is unrelated but I really love how Nanoka reacts after knowing that Mao saw and touched her (for medical purposes ofc), only to be completely fine with it once she knew no one else was around. Ok, Nanoka, now we all know that you're good with your man AND ONLY YOUR MAN seeing you. Cannot blame you, tbh.

CAPÍTULO 108: MAO TUVO MUCHO MIEDO DE PERDER A NANOKA. Y NO, NO SON IDEAS MÍAS.

Estas son las escenas que quiero rescatar del capítulo de esta semana:

Mao planeando ir tras Renji para evitar que vuelva a amenazar a Nanoka, y esta emocionándose al saberlo es el primer momento Maonoka que nos dio Rumiko Takahashi. Además, es recién ahí que Nanoka se entera el motivo por el que Mao estuvo cerca de matar a Renji.

Hyakka también interviene y comenta que ver a Mao así de alterado no es usual.

Por supuesto, Mao no dice nada, pero LO PIENSA (!Este es el segundo momento Maonoka de la semana¡). Si mal no recuerdo, esta es una de las pocas veces en que nos revela sus sentimientos. En esta ocasión, admite a sí mismo que, a pesar de que estaba acostumbrado a ver morir a gente cercana a él, la sola posibilidad de perder a Nanoka lo asustó... Y MUCHO. A las pruebas me remito:

Después de muchas especulaciones en torno a sobre lo que Mao siente por Nanoka, pienso que ahora es seguro decir que definitivamente la chica se ha ganado un lugar en su corazón, y que es una persona sumamente importante en su vida. Por supuesto, también es muy probable que él no esté 100% consciente de ello. Estoy muy contenta porque el cambio en los sentimientos de Mao se hace cada vez más evidente. Al principio temía que ocurriera lo mismo que con Sakura Mamiya de Kyoukai no Rinne, y éste se diera cuenta de lo que sentía en el último volumen del manga. Sin embargo, da la impresión de que eso pasará más pronto de lo que pensamos.
