Practicing the Unspeakable Vice of the Greeks

Hey, I'm Orbit! This all just a big mess of whatever I may be interested in. My only consistancy is spreading the gospel of Animorphs. Go read Animorphs. Currently making my way through critical role campaign two, I'd love to chat about it but no spoilers please!

an average f/f Literary Fiction novel with a central plotline about two women becoming romantically entangled is often hornier than an f/f Romance Novel with multiple explicit sex scenes because
in the f/f romance novels I've read at least the desire and the horniness is entirely contained within the sex scenes, outside of them the protagonist does not think lustfully about the love interest
but a Literary Novel will go on for several paragraphs about how the love interest's sweat slides down her wrist with a degree of desperation usually only seen in Tumblr textposts about [noun]girls

"A major change is coming your way. Life as you know it will irrevocably change. You will find yourself in situations you find uncomfortable, but if you allow your self to change a universe of possibilities will open up before you." Murderbot stared at the pop-up that somehow got passed it's adblock. It was a tarot card reading advert with a free three card reading included. Murderbot rolled it's eyes and exited out of the ad, thinking nothing of it as it went back to watching episodes of Sanctuary Moon. It's current contract was almost done, and soon it would be sent on a new contract; a survey group this time. Hopefully, it would be an easier job than making sure miners don't fall into incinerator shafts.

HERE'S how a Gerson & Susie hug would go down even though Susie is very hesitant about PDA bc it's been haunting me for days.
At some point Gerson shows up in the story again and Susie is out of her mind with joy, so she launches herself at him only to freeze just a couple of steps away (she VERY clearly wants that hug but is too embarrassed to actually initiate or accept one).
Gerson looks at her and because he reads her like a book he's like "Well, what's the hol' up? Where's my hug?!"
and Susie's sputters like (miss me with that gay shit voice) "What? I... uh. Heh. You're kidding? Like I'm gonna go for a hug. You'll, uh, probably just use it to suplex me or something, anyway."
"Right, I see... Still a coward then, hmm?"
"What?!"
"Gah haha hah! Scared of a little tackle, are we? Think y' can't handle it? Can't even keep your feet on the GROUND?!"
until he riles her up enough that she tries to grab at him. He steps back. She tries again, he dodges.
"You know what? If you want a hug that badly, take THIS!!"
And she goes for a full sumo tackle. And Gerson tanks the hit. Heels planted, she probably slides him back an inch or two out of momentum, but he holds his ground...
...and holds her back. Just clinging to her, bone-crushingly tight, with her head tucked under his chin. He doesn't make another move. One second. Two. More. Until he feels her claws scratch the metal of his armor, and Susie's breathing goes a little funny.
And THEN he suplexes her.

You were lucky. I am lucky.
“Why am I lucky?”
That no one realized what you were. That I got to you before anyone else can.
“What do you think I am?”
You’re a rogue SecUnit, a bot/human construct, with a scrambled governor module. By far, the most fascinating puzzle I've ever had the opportunity to unscramble. I can barely contain the excitement of chewing on the data I'll be extracting from you.
Do not attempt to hack my systems. It must be made clear. This exact scenario is unlikely to reappear. There is no room for error— I must be careful with you.
“Okay.”
...well, that was anticlimactic. You can continue to play the media. You stayed huddled, like a petulant child, sulking. Don’t sulk.
SecUnits don’t sulk. That would trigger punishment from the governor module, you said through the feed.
You sent a file.
Oh.
Oh.
...I may have already made a mistake.
...I may have bitten off more than I can chew.
...What should I do now? Right, I made a mistake.
I’m sorry I frightened you. I'm sorry I hurt you.
It seems, I have to be very careful with you. You are more human than I assumed. There are a lot of things I have yet to understand.
“I don’t want anything from you. I just want to ride to your next destination.”
You sounded scared. Hurt. Upset.
I still wanted to understand everything about you. I withdrawed.
You started watching a show called Rise and Fall of Sanctuary Moon.

I think a part of ART that is so underrated by the fandom sometimes is how much affection it shows for the people it loves. It's big and intimidating and mean sometimes and has no sense of proportionate retribution, but it's also very open about how much it loves its crew and Murderbot. It's not really just a hair-trigger angry ship, it's deeply protective of the people it houses in its hull.
And I wonder how much of that is informed by, or contributes to, the fact that it's a research transport that also goes directly into corporate territory and it and its crew protect and shuttle slaves and indentured servants and other disenfranchised people out.
And to do something like that, it's no wonder that it's so willing to take down anything that challenges it.
I mean. Imagine if your job was to protect your humans and you lived in a universe where everything is being slowly eaten by massively imperialistic mega-corporations who want you and everything you stand for wiped off the face of existence. You have to learn how to Fight the Hell Back.

somewhere out there right now is a kid with curly hair being raised by people who have wavy hair at best and those people are giving them 2-in-1 shampoo and conditioner and telling them to dry brush it. and that kid is gonna spend all of middle school and high school hating their hair and moping over the flat iron. they're being told right now that if they don't dry-brush their curl pattern into oblivion every morning it means they're unkempt and gross even though they naturally have the kind of ringlets that a thousand bridezillas would commit horrible murders for every june. it's happening right now it's an absolute epidemic and a tragedy every time

The early war plot line and the associated conversations are really well done and grounded in such a way that it feels very real—the propaganda is incredibly pointed especially in hindsight, the varied opinions and biases are painfully accurate, and the nationalism is chilling—and also watching it this week in particular is making me thousand yard stare like Caleb Widogast upon hearing the name Trent Ikithon.

the problem with water is like. it's the cleaning fluid right. that's the obvious part. you stop drinking and you stop peeing and your kidneys are like ough. ough. ough. ough. but you don't die. unless you're not drinking anything At All and not eating watery food either. so all it is is you pee less but you're okay. kind of.
BUT THEN when it gets too hot it starts being the coolant! and suddenly there are so many ways it can get out! you have so many sweat glands and so much skin and they all need to be cooled down before you DIE.
but then. you realize the least obvious one. it's the transmission fluid. it's the fucking transmission fluid. you can't transmit SHIT without your fliud. which is still fucking water somehow.
so now you're LEAKING your transmission fluid out of every goddamn pore and your kidneys are like hey. gimme that cleaning fluid cmon dude. while your pores are like ITS COOLANT. NEED COOLANT. FOR THE FIRE. NEED MORE COOLANT. SO MUCH FIRE. KILL IT. KILL IT MORE. MORE COOLANT. and then. the rest of you. that uses all that fluid to transmit things. it's like hey. hey. hey what the fuck.. i need that. hello? can anyone hear me? hello? it's so dark in here..
and then you drink more water or you die.
