Elvis reported to MGM for pre-production of Speedway, beginning with a 10 am music meeting and a 2 pm wardrobe fitting. According to Peter Guralnick and Ernst Jorgensen’s book, “Elvis: Day by Day,” on that first day, Elvis presented his costar with a car that had “‘Speedway’ painted on one door and ‘Starring Nancy and Elvis’ on the other.”

The Lion of Chaeronea (Boeotia), Greece
Height: 5,5 meters
The lion was erected by the Thebans after the battle of the same name to commemorate their fallen. Under the monument, archaeologists unearthed a mass grave of 254 people, now identified as members of the elite military unit known as “The Sacred Band of Thebes.
The monument was found in pieces, and restored to its full height in the early 20th century. The lion is one of the oldest standing war memorials of Greece.

Kenny Washington, UCLA football star, serves Bette Davis coffee on set of THE SISTERS (1938) at Warner Bros where he is working as a service man during his summer vacation. Two years later Washington was drafted by the Hollywood Bears becoming the first African-American player to sign with the NFL.
