Why should you consider Serena Williams one of the **greatest **athletes of all time?

I haven't been on Tumblr in a wicked long time but I just wanted to emphasize how important Malala Yousafzai is. She is perhaps the most influential person of our generation. She constantly stands up for equality and education. At only 17 years old she has won the Nobel Peace Prize and confronted the Taliban. I personally have been moved by her. I strongly recommend that all of you look her up immediately. Read her book, watch the Jon Stewart interviews with her, and educate yourselves on Malala. She is truly inspiring.

Sometimes we wait for others and think that Martin Luther should raise among us, Nelson Mandela should raise up among us and speak up for us, but we never realize they are normal humans like us – and if we step forward we can also bring change just like them.
Malala Yousafzai
Everyone’s talking about Jon Stewart’s heartfelt, respectful comments on Charleston, just as each time a tragedy like this happens his response is thoughtful and moving, but something even better to take away is the interview with Malala Yousafzai, whose actions and words are the kind of inspiration we should be striving for, in times of tragedy or otherwise.

Extremists have shown what frightens them the most: a girl with a book.

Why is it that countries which we call strong are so powerful in creating wars but are so weak in bringing peace? Why is it that giving guns is so easy, but giving books is so hard?
Malala Yousafzai used her Nobel peace prize acceptance speech to launch a searing attack on governments that have the resources to begin wars but not to enable universal education. (via guardian)

Father of the year.
His daughter, Malala Yousafzai, accepted the Nobel Peace Prize today. She won the prize for her work as an activist fighting for the right to education in parts of the world where it’s often denied (especially to girls).
In her acceptance speech, she said:
It is for those forgotten children who want education. It is for those frightened children who want peace. It is for those voiceless children who want change.
I am here to stand up for their rights, raise their voice. It is not time to pity them. It is time to take action so it becomes the last time that we see a child deprived of education.
