Clara nodded quietly, “Yes, thank you, I will endeavor to remember that but I do admit to having somewhat of a temper. And thank you for stepping up to him. I’m not sure if anyone else would have.”
Tumblr media
Mareena offered the girl a small smile. “It is quite alright. Just remember to keep that temper in check.” She chuckled softly.

The man didn’t stick around after that and Clara turned to the woman. “Thank you, I admit I wasn’t sure what I would have done if he had hit me back.”
Tumblr media
“You gotta be more careful, miss. Next time you might be all alone and just one slap might not be the only thing he desires to do.”

“I did not wait too long. Just long enough to be sure that I was with child.” A warm smile formed on her lips as she spoke, “I will try to be ready for what father does. This child will be loved and spoiled by the love that its parents and grandparents give to it.”
Tumblr media
“I can already feel sorry for it.” Amphitrite giggled. “You know how your father is around children, he simply can’t say no.”

Mareena lifted her head up at the sound of a girl’s voice. “Thank you.” She muttered out. “I’m Mareena.”

“You would be surprised. Warn chocolate with cinnamon does wonders to one’s mood. Here, have this one on the house and tell me if it helped.” Elysa smiled gently to the person sitting in front of her, by the bar.

Mareena turned her head towards the woman and found herself making a face in agreement. “Yes, I believe I do.” She said with a slight smirk and kicked a chair towards the blonde. “Join me, please.”

“You look like you need this more than I do, and that’s saying something.” Emilie smiled, offering the drink to the person in front of her at the tavern.

In ancient Roman mythology, Salacia was the female divinity of the sea, worshipped as the goddess of salt water who presided over the depths of the ocean. She was the wife and queen of Neptune, god of the sea and water.  She is identified with the Greek goddess, Amphitrite, wife of Poseidon.

Rhodes smile grew as she watched her mother’s face light up. Her hand still rested on her stomach as she listened to what her mother had to say. She had hoped that her mother would be the voice of reason and reassure her about her father. “He is.” Rhodes glanced down at her stomach as she said the words. “He could not keep still once he learned I was with child. I nearly had to throw a stone at him just to get him to breathe. I have known for a little over a month.“
Tumblr media
“And you have waited this long to tell your mother?” Amphitrite said with a soft pout on her lips. “I am so happy for you, my little ocean.” She said with another wide smile as she embraced her daughter in a tight hug. “Poseidon will be thrilled. Be ready, though, he will try to spoil our grandchild, whether it be a boy or a girl.”

Poseidon stood his ground, letting the silence hang between them, after all it was she who in his eyes had to give him some inclination for him to make the first move.  “You don’t need to hide. I mean…I wish you no harm, I just have an idea. A proposition if you will?” Part of him couldn’t get her out of his mind, there was just something about her, yet at the same time Poseidon was no fool, he knew full well there was no love between their families. She would probably despise him, him and the rest of his family.
“I am trying to bring some form of peace to the world, at least the world of the sea, I am in need of a wife, how would you like to be a queen.”
Tumblr media
At first, Amphitrite thought it was a joke so she chuckled, slightly amused but also a little bit – excited and nervous about the idea. When she, after a moment on silence realized it really was an offer, she arched her eyebrow. “Pardon me for laughing, I thought you were joking. Surely, you are joking?” She tried, eyeing him carefully.
“You know an arranged marriage between a Titan and an Olympian could not possibly bring peace. My family resents yours and yours is trying to destroy mine for all eternity. How we feel about it doesn’t matter. Peace cannot be obtained though – marriage. Your brother will never accept it and neither will my family.” She rationalized, although… She was tempted.

She shrugged, not really knowing how she felt. “I guess I am well. I don’t really know. How are you?” Eris asked in return, finding Amphitrite to be one of the rare Goddesses she could somewhat relax with.
Tumblr media
“I am glad if you are truly well. I hope you know you can always talk to me.” Amphitrite offered kindly. “I am content. I can’t complain,”

Her mother’s embrace was one that Rhodes had longed for. Although she was grown and married she still yearned for her mother’s guidance and embrace when matters, such as the one she needed to tell her mother, occurred. “I know,” Rhodes smiled at her mother as she spoke. “You smell like home. The salt of the water clings to you like I remember. I have been meaning to return home but something has kept me on land and it is why I have asked you to meet me here on the island rather than me coming to you.”
Rhodes’ hand instinctively went to her stomach as she pulled away from her mother. She would have this bond with her child. A bond that terrified and excited her more than anything else in this world. “I do not know how father will react to having to come to the island on a regular basis to see his grandchild but I am hoping my mother will not mind leaving the ocean to help me prepare for welcoming a child into this world.”
Tumblr media
Amphitrite eyed her daughter carefully, as she waited for her to elaborate, but when the explanation came she was close to braking her yaw from the wideness of the smile which broke through. “A child? Rhodes, my little mermaid, I am happy to hear that! Helios must be elated.” She replied with the same, wide smile, and shook her head. “Don’t be ridiculous, your father would love to spend more time with you. Especially once he heard you’re with child. How long have you known?”

“Very much.” It was no lie that Anteros had been born simply to keep Eros company and she did play favourites, but the sweet little boy had stolen a piece of her heart too. “That is a good idea but I will need rest too at some point.”
Tumblr media
“Do you want me to hold him? I can try calming him down, if you’d let me.” Amphitrite offered.
