Small Copywriting Fix for Most Startups
After watching +300 landing pages rewrites, I came up with this small fix to improve the way most startups present themselves.
Start with an action verb and talk directly to your persona:
Tax credits for growing startups ā Get +$50k back from the IRS in 20 minutes
Turn your feature sections into narratives:
Dig at your audience problem.
Twist the knife by expanding the problem and showing real-life scenarios.
Explain how the feature fixes the problem.
Show users how easy it is to get started by handling objections:
"Join our Beta. It's free."
"No credit card required."
"Cancel anytime."
Be specific about the value users get by clicking forward:
"Get started" ā "Sign up now to automate Slack"
"Join us" ā "Start learning"

How An Entrepreneur Can Amplify Their Brand
Being a serial entrepreneur is no easy task. You have to see the big picture, but you also need to be a master of the finer details. Youāve got to source new business opportunities and also maintain the business relationships youāve already established. At the end of the day, the successes and failures of your organization rest squarely on your shoulders. And inevitably, you might reach a point when you feel like you canāt continue to grow. But fear not. I believe thereās a growth solution that can help: Leverage publicity to amplify your brand.
As an entrepreneur myself, below are a few of my tips for getting started:
Create a website that hosts accurate information and visually appealing content.
You might have already taken this step, given that we live in the age of technology. But if youāre not online yet, you should create a website to begin leveraging publicity. Your website will serve not only as the hub of your business but also as your marketing and media outreach center. The information on your website needs to be accurate, too. The website is what makes the first impression on potential audiences, and thatās why your information (i.e., location, business hours, products and services) must be correct. It also needs to be visually appealing. You can consider hiring a content creator to create in-house marketing materials such as emails, videos, posters, etc., to help with this.
Infuse social media outreach with branded content.
Brainstorm ways to reach out into your community of potential audiences and connect. With that, always make sure youāve attached good branded content to your outreach. One of the most popular ways to reach out is to post on social media platforms. Many platforms are free to join and offer multiple avenues to new audiences and potential stakeholders. Keep in mind, however, that itās not enough to simply extend your business into a space; you must also accomplish something in that space. You can delight or entertain, you can educate and inform, or you can advocate for a cause, to name a few.
Leverage the audiences of brands in your portfolio.
Youāve worked hard to add credibility and legitimacy to your brand. Those are monikers of a successful business that took substantial time and effort to achieve. But remember: The companies and other brands that youāve worked with (those in your portfolio) have also likely built their own credibility, legitimacy and, most importantly, a potential audience. Connect with those stakeholders by showing the relationship between both brands. A short video or blog post that can easily be shared is a perfect strategy. Also, it can be helpful to dedicate an entire page of your website to brands (and their recognizable logos) youāve worked with to ensure visitors know your history.
Rely on the power of storytelling.
Life isnāt about products. Deep down, I find that people crave relation to others. To that end, I always try to use storytelling to allow my audiences to form a relationship with my brand. In my experience, itās far easier for potential customers to remember who you are if theyāve associated a unique story or series of events with your brand. Itās also important to focus on the impact your company makes on the community, customers and the globe in general. Consider posting story-driven content regularly that shows inspiring stories and news of individuals at your organisation. You can also consider contacting a journalist to write about your employees and your impact.

Am I in the wrong career, the wrong job, or just burnt out from covid life?
Iām burning out in my current job in content marketing. There are a lot of days where I feel like Iām not contributing anything meaningful to the world, and Iām not even making that much money relative to the cost of living in my city. I feel like Iām just churning out mediocre content about products/services I donāt care about to get people to buy stuff they probably donāt need and might not be able to afford.
I work for a marketing agency. That means I do marketing for whatever random company agrees to a scope with us, even if I disagree with their values (e.g., companies pushing Botox, companies that underpay people for their labor, etc.) Even when Iām marketing for clients I like, I sometimes feel bad about my work because I donāt have time to learn enough about their industries to create truly meaningful content. I usually end up paraphrasing a lot of ideas from other websites, which makes me feel like Iām plagiarizing and contributing to the excess of junk on the web. Thereās rarely time to actually talk to an expert or build real subject area knowledge.
My coworkers actually seem excited about marketing. They share articles about new marketing trends, talk about ads they see on TV a lot, and seem genuinely enthusiastic about helping client businesses grow. I donāt have a problem with companies growing, but I just canāt bring myself to care that much.
I got into marketing because I wanted to write for a living and there were opportunities in content marketing. Initially, I was just excited to get paid to write and do something new. Iām rarely excited about work anymore and often find myself dreading it, although that may just be because I keep getting behind on deadlines and having to work late.
Am I in the wrong job or the wrong career? Or do I just have a negative attitude because Iām tired of covid life and working from home by myself? Am I just looking at everything wrong? Does everyone in marketing feel like this at times?
I would really appreciate some perspectives from other marketers!

Digital marketers, I need your laptop recommendations (PC)
Sorry to post this here but I was ambushed by affiliate sellers on u/suggestalaptop
My laptop is practically on a deathbed and I need a replacement. My current finances can allow something between $500-$700.
I work remotely - do a lot of writing and editing, project management, some visuals on Canva, and so forth (no graphic design, UX/UI, video editing). There are at least 15 tabs open at any moment so I obviously need a machine that won't freeze any time I scroll or switch tabs. Also, something that will last longer than a season.
What are you all using? How satisfied are you?
Dear Mac users - I know Macs are the best in the game and all that but you can see that my budget won't have it so don't bother to convince me.
A decent PC laptop would do just fine for now.
Thanks.

Level of degree needed?
Hello, I'm in college now getting my bachelor's in Marketing with a minor in BA.
From your experiences, is that typically enough? I try to look at real job listings and most of them are bachelor's with different amounts of experience (which makes sense). But I've been looking at Masters of Marketing degrees. Both my parents have Masters and I was just wondering your all thoughts. Obviously good internships are a great thing to have too. But like just how limiting is a bachelor's and would I potentially regret not getting a Masters?
Thanks!

Career change to Marketing from GIS
Iām a choleric personality and I need a project oriented career where I can reach goals and pocket away wins.
My GIS job prospects are laced in coding which I tried and canāt stand.
Am I right to think marketing would be a good career?
I could use some guidance from people who already were in a different career and transitioned into marketing, please.
Iām trying to avoid repetition of never ending mindless assignments. Also tasks that never end and no real goal is ever reached. I might be dreaming but maybe some kind of business related career might work for me and marketing sounds diverse.

Virtual Events: Live or Prerecorded?
So obviously everyone's been doing virtual conferences or online speaking events. Has anyone seen a big different between the events that are live vs the ones that are pre-recorded? Do you think 'live' just draws more people in at the end of the day? Or is it all about the driving people to the final individual session videos that are usually posted after the event on their own page?

How to choose a marketing career path?
Hello,
So I'm looking to make a career switch from Psychology (mostly mental health/medical setting experience) to Marketing. However I know that there are so many different kinds of paths in marketing and I'm not sure which one is worth looking into for me. I know I enjoy social media (more specifically creating content around product awareness) , I enjoy digging and studying my youtube analytics, I enjoy the thought of being part of a creative team and creating Campaign vision boards. I also would enjoy studying a targeted demographic (spending habits, interests, hobbies,lifestyles).. If any of this makes sense and you have any suggestions based on what I said what's a marketing career path I should be looking into please let me know. Thank you in advance for any help!

I've got $4000-5000 to spend, but how?
Here's the basics:
- got 4000-5000 dollars a month to spend on marketing
- brand-new company, new website. Currently little to no traffic
- My company makes products for the cannabis industry
- I have a KICKASS product we just released. In person sales are excellent. Online are TERRIBLE.
What is the best way I should market my company? Im an inventor, and great in-person salesman but I dont know a clue about marketing. My companies IG has gone from 60 to 1050 followers in 2 months organically.
Should I spend the money on hiring an SEO dude from fiverr for $600-1000mo, then $600-1000mo on a social media manager, and the rest on paying influencers for S/O, video editors for YT, blog posters, ect.?
Or do I just hire a marketing firm that will manage all that for me for $4000-5000 a month?
Im not really sure where to start as I'm not a marketing guy.

How can I use MailChimp or something similar to mass customize/apply to companies?
I am a job seeker. Only 30% of all jobs are found online so I would like to reach out to a list of of companies and send them my application.
I have a list of 50 companies and would like the email template to be customized based on: - Company - Address of company - Name of Contact - Title of Contact
How can I do this using my gmail account to mass send? I would like to use MailChimp but maybe it's too complicated? I do not want to use a company, I would like the emails to be sent from my personal gmail account.

The four types of keyword research
Keyword research for PPC and SEO: The goal here is to identify keywords that searchers type. And use these keywords as the starting points of your SEO and PPC efforts. There is, however, a difference between PPC and SEO research. When you run a paid campaign, you'll typically target keywords that target prospects in advance stages of the funnel and are looking for a solution. With SEO, you'll frequently go after top-funnel keywords.
Keyword research for social media marketing: The goal is to uncover the topics of discussion and engagement plus the hashtags that earn attention. This information will help you understand the topics, hashtags, and wording to use in your organic and paid posts. When you perform this research, remember that every social media platform is different.
Keyword research for content creation: You're not really going after search data here. Instead, you want to understand which topics gained more interest from your audience, and which wording and phrasing resonate with them. Starting with a topic, research it by using Youtube, Reddit, Quora, social media platforms, or Google Discover. Identify the topics that gained more traction, and use this information to create better content.
Keyword research for audience research: The goal is to uncover your audience's preferences, behaviors and self descriptions. Who are you writing to in your copy? What job do they have? What content do they consume? Where do you reach them? While the keywords don't tell you anything about the person typing them, they still are the starting point to identify your audience's pain point and desires.

How To Write Product Descriptions That Sell | eCommerce Tips and Tricks
A great product description is key to a successful eCommerce business. If people can't find out what you're selling, they can't buy it. However, most store owners struggle with writing engaging descriptions that sell their products and instead opt for a boring copy that doesn't even convert one percent of customers into buyers. You don't want to be that store owner, so this blog post will show you how to write effective product descriptions every time!
How to write product descriptions: a step-by-step walkthrough
The biggest mistake product creators make is not writing their descriptions well. By following this step-by-step walkthrough, you will be able to write engaging descriptions that get lots of attention.
Clear things up
If you're a business owner, it's important to know what your customers are looking at before they make decisions on who or how much of something. The majority of descriptions for items on marketplaces like AliExpress can be long and unclear because there isn't enough space available in titles alone!
The octopus plush' product title could easily have been changed from "Reversible Octopus Plush" which is difficult to digest into something much easier said: letās say 18 Colors Plush Toys Double Sided Flip Octopuses Doll Soft Reversible Stuffed Animals Toys Creative Christmas Gift Home Decoration
Remember SEO
Optimizing your product page is very important so that Googleās algorithm can detect you in search results. This helps drive traffic to the website and boost overall visibility on social media channels like Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter where thousands of people are looking at things such as what they posted last night when scrolling through their feed during breakfast time - we all know how fast this goes by!
A great way for us entrepreneurs out there who don't have enough hours in one day (or week) because life just gets hectic with work outside our businesses too--to maximize exposure and potential sales while managing scarce resources efficiently: do some keyword research online via SEMrush which will generate lots...of ideas based off current searches related specifically about products
ā
Hence, in our previous point, we renamed the original long title of the plush to āReversible Octopus Plush.ā
With SEO though, remember to use your chosen keyword/term at least 3 ā 4 times throughout the page. You should have the term in the product title, and a couple of times throughout the product description. Also, make sure to have the term in the meta-tag information for your page.
Think about the customer
In the product description, you should also talk about what exactly makes this item a great buy for anybody looking at it.
Go for benefits vs. features
One of our first suggestions for how to write product descriptions in a better way is by going with benefits versus features. This isn't saying that all your posts need some mention on what an item can do, but when you're trying to showcase someone who might buy from yourself or another seller--the customer will get more interested if it shows them this particular purchase would make their life easier instead of just listing every little detail about the product itself.
Start with the headline
So for example, with this octopus, we could instead of a physical descriptor have āJust not feelinā it today? Say no more (this reversible plush will do all the talking).
"See how that can immediately grab someone's attention?" You're probably thinking. That makes sense! But look at what happens when you take into consideration which words were used in each header:
The output is much less about feeling than our old friend color or occasion and actually speaks directly to buyers' emotions - without even necessarily mentioning their potential needs/desires yet
Repeat with the description!
For the actual description, weād change the copy to something like this (assuming the target audience is young women):
When youāre just not in the mood to talk, there's no reason for a hand-down. Just flip your smile on our Reversible Octopus Plush and let someone know that they should take care of themselves because YOU'RE THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN! This adorable octopus plushie features two opposite emotions: one side has an emotive face with wide eyes looking up at his grin while another exhibits tears from sadness or anger; popular from its viral TikTok which featured both sides as well as how useful it can be when conveying those days where everything seemed frustratingly hard - but don't worry
This octopus plush is a great way to express your emotions! It can be used while juggling work, family life or any other time that you need some fun. Choose from eight colors including blue and yellow which are the most popular options for expressing joy in our society today - but there's always another color waiting just around this corner! This stuffed animal measures 10cm high with its arms spread out wide making it easy enough for kids of all ages (and even adults) get creative when they show off their own unique personality through personalization on these toys too make them theirs alone...
The copy was cut down quite significantly so only benefits would appeal
Put yourself in the customerās shoes
When you want to create better product descriptions, donāt be afraid of adding some personality to your copy. Sure, not every website needs an upbeat brand voice (and if it's not on purpose then go ahead and keep things dry), but being more personable is a great trick for drawing in shoppers! This can be accomplished by putting yourself inside one of those casual yet professional salespeople who are all too familiar with talking about what they sell - especially when promoting something as personal and sensitive as clothing or jewelry.
I was posting with photos and many others in
