Of course, Izuku can't have his moment without some people having an issue about it.
Not surprised, anything involving Izuku Midoriya someone is going to hate and has been for almost 10 years now.
Here's the thing that honestly has pissed me off about the fandom. And you know what, I know some of you are going to think I'm a bitch about this, but at this point? I don't care. I'm now at a limit that has been pushed.
When it comes to Izuku Midoriya, some of you seem to forget that he is an individual. This is still HIS story he's telling.
Look, I got my ships, but damn it. Sometimes, I want these characters to still be perceived as their own characters.
Katsuki showing up this chapter was enough for me. Yes, he is a big part of Izuku's story, but... I feel like it would not be right for him to be more included in AFO and Shigaraki's ultimate defeat.
Last time I checked, Katsuki was only a temporary OFA user... FROM A MOVIE. His journey didn't completely evolve around One For All. Izuku's did.
When Katsuki was having his awesome moments fighting AFO when he was a kid and a baby (AFO), I ain't seen no one going "Oh, Izuku should be by his side, BakuDeku" or anything like that. No, y'all was cheering Katsuki on and seemed satisfied that Izuku served as support.
That's all this fandom ever does is see as Izuku as support for Katsuki, just he always has to have his story evolve around Katsuki and nothing else.
He's the main character, but with some of you? He's not allowed to have his own moments to shine. He's not allowed to think about anything else but Katsuki. He's not allowed to put down the villain he was meant to face unless Katsuki is there to take the shine away.
Be honest, that's how you feel, isn't it?
Like, damn, Katsuki already won the last how many popularity polls!! When are y'all going to rest and let Izuku Midoriya be front row and center in his own damn story?!
I don't hate Katsuki, but I'm starting to dislike a lot of his fans.
Same for Shoto.
Look, Shoto also being more involved like how some of y'all wanted for this chapter would make no fucking sense to me. His fight was always meant to be against Dabi. His story involved his family. Izuku wasn't there fighting Dabi, so why in the hell should Shoto share some of the big moment when Izuku takes out ShigAFO?
How would that be fair for Izuku?
Some of you didn't even like Izuku being involved with the family drama and later he wasn't for the big fight because the Todoroki Family Drama wasn't for him.
As with Katsuki, Shoto is still a supporting character. He's a big one, but oh my gosh!!
I literally just woke up and the bull I'm already seeing is ridiculous, it is.
Sometimes, I feel like some of you who think they know the story haven't been paying attention at all. Some of you, I feel have that "this character should have been the main character" mentality so when Izuku does MC things, you go into some frenzy over it. Some of you, I feel should take off the damn shipping goggles and for once realize that these characters are still individuals and percieve them as such. Horikoshi, if you read this... don't make any ship canon. The fandom can settle for fics.
Ten years... for ten years... as much as some of you demean Katsuki for his actions, you act just as he did towards Izuku. Treat Izuku like some damn punching bag. You don't even have to like the story, I don't give a damn.
He gets moments to shine, it's a problem. "No, this character should be---" Just stop!
I'm not saying Horikoshi's writing is perfect. I'm not saying you have to like Izuku. I'm not even saying I'm an expert on BNHA because I'm still learning the story, too.
But what I am saying is, and it's going to sound bitchy, is that y'all are so blinded and muddled by your criticism and shipping that you're quick to make judgments. You're quick to rush and not sit back and really try to understand what's going on and your hatred or indifference towards Izuku is just doing a disservice to not just the story, but to yourselves. The way some of you think will ruin the experience for you and some of you sound like jerks, for real.
Like, every character is important to BNHA in some way, yes. But what about Izuku Midoriya? Doesn't his importance matter, too?
Or is he just some character for you to hate on or some character you only value for shipping purposes?
Feel how you about this chapter (even though it was just leaks and not the officially out chapter, let alone THE WHOLE DAMN STORY!! BNHA AIN'T FINISHED YET!!), I don't care.
But oh my gosh... do better, just do better.
It isn't just this fandom. It's all fandoms. There's this trend now of "criticizing" the main characters or saying "they're not really the MC" or how their value as a character for shipping purposes.
This can apply to any character, but right now I'm focusing on main characters.
When it comes to main characters, you should understand them most of all to understand the story and a lot of you or at least the loud minority have failed drastically.

It doesn't surprise her anymore, at first it did, although not as much as it would've before the war. Now, seeing Bakugo wrapped around Midoriya is nothing new; he's been like this since the war ended. And Midoriya has gotten used to it.
Ochako chuckles as Bakugo leans even closer, head resting on Midoriya's shoulder; there's no need to do that in order to watch the same video on Midoriya's phone, but she knows Bakugo would take anything as an excuse to be as close to the green bean as possible.
Her classmates have adapted as well; everyone knows if they invite Midoriya to a party, the mall or pretty much anywhere, Bakugo will tag along.
They come as a pair now. Bakugo doesn't seem to want to be away from Midoriya not even for a second... And everyone knows he sneaks into Midoriya's room at night. However, they're still not a couple yet.
Sometimes they fall asleep on the couch, all tangled together and other days they find Bakugo grumpily patching Midoriya up and complaining about him being reckless again.
It's kinda cute... Although she'd like for him to be honest and admit his feelings for her oblivious friend, otherwise she's afraid Midoriya won't take the hint.

The pro hero convention
Finally, Izuku can't contain his excitement; he's going to meet All Might himself! Yeah, he's retired, but he'll attend this particular convention because he's now the mentor of one of the best pro heroes: Dynamight.
Now, Izuku truly admires him too, but the truth is that he bought his ticket because he wants to see All Might.
He wonders if he'd be willing to sign his merch or at least Izuku's old notebook in which he has gathered a lot of information about quirks over the past twenty years.
Izuku is just a quirkless boy who works at a bakery, but he's still a fan boy who loves to know everything about pro heroes and the things they do to protect society.
Maybe he can go see pro hero Shoto after that; it's not like he doesn't want to stay and see Dynamight as well... it's just that they used to go to the same school when they were very little and even though they weren't friends ('cause Katsuki himself told him that a couple of times), the little blond boy used to protect him from other kids that made fun of him and Izuku called him his hero because of it.
It'd be an awkward reunion, that's why he wants to avoid it. Besides, it's not like Katsuki has a friendly personality. It's one of the reasons his PR is exhausted at the moment and follows him basically everywhere.
Although now that he thinks about it, Katsuki has probably forgotten all about him already.
Maybe Izuku has nothing to worry about.
There's a huge line already; Katsuki has a lot of female fans because he's very handsome, just like Shoto.
Fortunately, he doesn't have to get in line because All Might is by himself watching everything from afar; the fact that no one recognizes his true form makes Izuku sad. It's true that it's not like most of people know the story behind All Might's power, but it's not a secret either.
Shaking with excitement, Izuku approaches the tall, thin and blond man with the dark blue suit and tries to speak without stammering too much.
"Could you please sign my notebook, All Might?"
The man smiles, although he looks a bit surprised at the same time.
Izuku gets flustered.
"I mean... I know you're not here to do that, but I thought–"
"I'd love to, young man."
"Really?" Izuku knows he has stars in his eyes at the moment and that he's blushing, but he can't help himself.
"Yeah, sure! Follow me!"
Izuku doesn't know how his legs somehow keep functioning, but they do. He walks behind All Might towards the table where Dynamight is signing merchandise with an expression that tells everyone he'd rather be anywhere else.
All Might sits on a chair next to the young pro hero and tells Izuku to show him everything he wants him to sign.
"Izuku?"
The green haired boy blushes to the tip of his ears and gets immediately nervous.
"Kacchan! Uhh... No, sorry! I mean Dynamight!" Izuku begs all the gods up there Katsuki doesn't kick him out before he gets at least one of his things signed by All Might.
"You can call me whatever the fuck you want," Katsuki smirks, looking suddenly very happy with himself.
His PR is having the worst time of her life; the girls in front of the line are impatient already and Izuku is sure more than one recorded Katsuki cursing out loud.
"Do you two know each other?" All Might smiles, genuinely curious.
"We used to go to the same school when we were little." Izuku says, very proud of himself because he sounded normal and didn't stammer once.
"We played house a lot; I used to demand Izuku to be my wife every single time," Katsuki says, very proud of himself.
Izuku's face turns completely red; he can't believe he had forgotten about that.
"Here." Katsuki hands Izuku his own phone while a very enthusiastic fan starts glaring at Izuku likes he's her nemesis now.
"Uhh..."
"Add your number."
Izuku is so nervous he doesn't even question it, he just does it. When he gives him the phone back, Katsuki has a huge grin on his face that shocks his own fans a bit because they're used to see him with a frown upon his face all the time.
"So... you have come here to see me?"
"I actually wanted to meet All Might."
Katsuki's smug grin disappears in an instant; he grimaces like he's in pain before narrowing his eyes.
Then he pouts like he used to do whenever Izuku didn't want to play house with him. Now, he remembers...
At that moment his PR tells Katsuki to keep signing and Izuku feels relieved for not having his undivided attention anymore.
All Might chuckles, looking from him to Katsuki with amusement before asking Izuku to put everything he wants him to sign over the table.
Izuku is too excited again to think about what just happened with Katsuki; he's never been so happy before.
***
He makes his exit quickly and goes directly to where pro hero Shoto is signing things for his fans.
Still shaking with excitement about what happened earlier, Izuku decides to wait in line to meet pro hero Shoto and keeps looking at all the merchandise All Might signed for him.
Izuku can't stop grinning the entire time.
"Izuku."
He gasps and he's sure a couple of people around squeak in delight when they notice Dynamight standing a few feet from the line.
"Kacchan!" Izuku mumbles, wondering how Katsuki managed to escape from his own signing.
"It's my lunch break," Katsuki says, almost like he's reading Izuku's mind.
He smirks when the green haired boy blinks at him, but has to growl at the people who gather around him to try to get a picture and an autograph too.
They take a couple of steps back as soon as they notice the way the pro hero is glaring at them.
"Let's go grab something to eat, Izuku. My treat..."
"I was waiting to–"
"Half and half is not worth it," Katsuki cuts him off, looking irritated out of the sudden. It must be due to the fact that he's always fighting Shoto over the first place.
Despite the expression on Katsuki's face, Izuku can't help but smile at him; it's like when they were kids, the blond had always been stubborn and kept following Izuku around until he agreed to play as his wife.
"Fine," Izuku gives in, allowing Katsuki to lead him outside the building for a moment.
They actually have a good time; it's like he never stopped seeing Katsuki because it's so easy to talk to him about anything.
Despite being just a quirkless guy, Katsuki seems genuinely interested in Izuku's life; he asks about the bakery and makes Izuku share the location with him.
At some point, Katsuki takes one of Izuku's hands in his and stares into his eyes in a way that makes Izuku turn completely red in seconds.
"I want us to be close again."
"Sure! I'd love to be your friend!"
To his confusion, Katsuki shakes his head a couple of times.
"I don't want us to be just friends," he says, leaning closer. "I want to start dating you."
"Are you sure? I mean we just–"
"I never do anything I don't want to; yes, I'm pretty sure," Katsuki assures him, leaning forward to give him a kiss on the forehead.
"Okay, let's start dating!"
Izuku thought it'd be weird to even think about it since Katsuki is one of the best pro heroes and he's very talented and famous, but the truth is that Izuku feels at home whenever he's with him.
Maybe this could work out.
The only bad thing about it is that in less than a day, Dynamight's fans find out through social media.
Izuku texts Katsuki about it, but it seems like he not only does not mind what they say, he just makes it worse by posting a couple of pictures he took of Izuku on his official Instagram.
It almost looks like Katsuki wants everyone to know he's dating Izuku.
It's alright, actually. Izuku is sure everything will be fine. Dating a pro hero can't be that complicated.

Before anyone comes in my inbox with "But Izuku would have voted for Katsuki and would have loved for him to be number one" I need you to understand that yes, he probably would but this also the same kid who is just as competitive when pushed to it and also Izuku is an individual.
I feel like sometimes saying that "Izuku would have voted..." is also forgetting that Izuku is his own character and not everything he does or says or whatever is always about Katsuki.
I don't hate the ship and I don't hate Katsuki and I am fully aware that they are a big part of each other's lives, but I will also acknowledge they individually they do hold value to themselves without the need to bring up the ship. For some parts of the story, they weren't even in the same arc. The Shie Hassaikai Arc, anyone? The School Festival Arc?
Sometimes, I feel like some people only acknowledge Izuku for the sake of BakuDeku. He has other traits, he has done other things and most of it being without Katsuki's influence!!
This is the same fandom that will go "He's annoying" and critique his character.
Katsuki has haters because he's "too mean", but Izuku will get hate on for being "too nice" and he's not even that nice!
I would have loved for Izuku to have gotten #1 because he, too, have grown as a character and has done great things and come on. The ninth poll? Izuku being the ninth user while also having his name referencing said number?
Opportunity was damn sure missed!!
And personally?? I feel like he would have voted for All Might. That is his idol, his hero dad!

Izuku: Can you reach that book for me, Kacchan?
Katsuki *smirks*: Sure, nerd.
Izuku: Kacchan... why is your arm around my waist?
Katsuki: For balance.
Izuku: Oh... and what about the kiss on the back of my head?
Katsuki: Don't question my methods! Do you want the book or not?
Izuku *blushing*: Yes, please.
Katsuki *kisses the back of his head again*: Here.
Izuku: Kacchan!
Katsuki: Heh.

Friendship chocolates?
It's Valentine's day which means Tanjirou takes the opportunity to give all his highschool friends some chocolate.
Even though the Pillars (nickname for the nine members of the student council) are older than Tanjirou and his classmates, he considers them close friends too so he gives them chocolate too.
Zenitsu doesn't like the idea.
"Don't do it, Tanjirou!" He almost begs, looking slightly irritated already. "They'll think it's something romantic."
Tanjirou chuckles at the silly idea; they'd never think something like that. They're too amazing to date a simple boy like him.
"They won't," Tanjirou assures his friend with a smile that doesn't seem to work to calm him down. "Besides, I'm giving these to you, Inosuke, Nezuko and Genya as well!"
Zenitsu just shakes his head and doesn't say anything else.
***
Everything turns out to be more than okay; all the hashira seem to be really happy with the chocolates Tanjirou gives them. In fact, they're so unbelievably excited that all of them (one at a time) pull a very amused Tanjirou in their arms and kiss him all over the face until the redhead starts giggling.
They sure are very physically affectionate with their friends; Tanjirou is glad he decided to give them the chocolates outside school.
However, after that day they start hanging out with Tanjirou and his friends even more and basically growl at whomever wants to get too close to Tanjirou (especially if they're infamous for being the school bullies). The other students treat Tanjirou different now, like he's very important and it really puzzles the redhead.
The Pillars have also started walking him and Nezuko home; his little sister insists on keeping an eye on them and even mentioned it out loud in front of them.
"Understandable," they always say, nodding. Even after they find Nezuko narrowing her eyes at them they seem to be more than okay with that. "He's your brother after all."
She's not the only one acting weird, Tanjirou's mother has welcomed them inside their house a couple of times, but Tanjirou's other siblings are the ones who usually join them in the living room, only to glare at them...
Rokuta is always trying to keep Tanjirou's full and undivided attention to himself; making grabby hands until Tanjirou takes him in his arms.
"Are you serious about this?" Nezuko asks at some point, crossing her arms over her chest.
"Completely."
"We'd marry–"
Tomioka suddenly puts a hand over Rengoku's mouth before he can finish the sentence, but it still makes Nezuko eye them suspiciously.
"Not too fast."
"Of course not," Kocho says then. "We'll take it slow."
Tanjirou tilts his head to the side, confused, however, before he can ask anything, Rokuta tells him he wants Tanjirou to take him to the kitchen to grab a snack.
Even though it doesn't make any sense, Tanjirou has the feeling all of this has to do with the chocolates. Maybe he should've followed Zenitsu's advice after all. He shouldn't have given anyone friendship chocolates...
Tanjirou shakes his head then, no, it's ridiculous... This can't be about the chocolates.

Nothing romantic about it
"I want to spend the day with you. Today."
Izuku feels for a moment that there's something important he's missing but doesn't think too much about it because he's distracted by the way Katsuki looks from the floor to him. He's flustered, but Izuku doesn't know why, he doesn't have to be... They've spent a lot of days together now that they're friends again.
However, Izuku doesn't think too much about it.
"Of course, Kacchan!" Why not? He loves spending time with him. Always. Why would today be different?
It's like some sort of weight vanished from Katsuki's shoulders, because he suddenly looks happy, more confident and almost relieved. He grins before shoving a red box with a ribbon in Izuku's hands.
"Get ready for the best day of your life, nerd! I'll see you in the common room in an hour!" He smirks before going away.
Izuku takes the lid off the box and realizes that it's filled with homemade chocolates. He squeaks in delight before taking one and biting into it; of course it's delicious, he makes a mental note to thank Katsuki.
Later, after walking in the common room and seeing all the pink and red decorations in it, Izuku finally realizes what he was missing: It's Valentine's day.
Does Katsuki know it? Maybe he doesn't and just asked to spend time with Izuku like it's any other day, or maybe he knows and he just wants to be with him because they're friends. Because Izuku is aware this day is not only about romantic relationships...
Suddenly the chocolates make sense now. Worried, Izuku decides to buy a couple later for his friends. He can't believe he completely forgot about it.
"Deku-kun, we're going to watch a movie! Do you want to come?"
"I'd love to, but I promised Kacchan I'd spend the day with him."
"Oh, I see..." Uraraka grins and Izuku realizes too late what that knowing smile means...
"No, it's not like that!"
Uraraka keeps grinning even though Izuku tries to explain to her there's nothing romantic about it. It doesn't help his case that Katsuki walks in then and takes Izuku's hand before pulling him away from her.
"Come on, nerd, we have a lot to do!"
It seems Katsuki had planned all of that a while ago because he already has a permission for the both of them to go outside.
They go to the shopping center; Izuku is excited and walks in every store that has All Might themed stuff inside. Katsuki buys him an All Might watch that makes him so happy he can't help but pull Katsuki into his arms.
Katsuki doesn't let go of his hand unless is extremely necessary and Izuku, despite getting a little bit flustered because of it, gets used to Katsuki's warm palm against his.
When they stop to eat a crepe, Izuku realizes that the place is full of... couples. It's only natural of course, it's Valentine's day but it makes Izuku wonder what the people around think about them...
It doesn't matter anyway, because they're just hanging out as friends.
Actually, the only thing that matters is that Katsuki seems to be enjoying himself quite a lot. Izuku has never seen him smiling so much in a while.
They go back to the UA and their friends convince them to stay in the common room and watch a couple of romcoms with them. Oddly enough, Katsuki doesn't complain too much, he sits on the couch next to Izuku and puts an arm around his shoulders.
Izuku gets flustered for a moment, before he convinces himself that it's nothing to worry about and just eventually relaxes into Katsuki's personal space. He even falls asleep for a couple of minutes before waking up and finding Katsuki looking fondly at him.
They're alone, but the movie is still playing on the screen.
"You look tired, nerd."
"Yeah... Uhh..." Izuku can't hold back the blush that spreads from his cheeks towards his neck in seconds. "I think I should go to my room now, it's late."
Katsuki just nods but he leans even closer to him.
"Happy Valentine's, Izuku," he whispers before pressing a soft kiss against the green bean's lips. "Come on, I'll take you to your room."
Izuku blinks, his mind is completely empty or perhaps full of the memory of Katsuki's lips on his and can't even bring himself to say anything coherent. He doesn't even protest when Katsuki takes him in his arms and nuzzles against his cheek while he walks towards Izuku's dorm.
So... It seems he had the wrong idea about what actually happened that day. But Izuku is too flustered to talk about it with Katsuki, but he'll speak to him in the morning.
He has to, because it seems he has a boyfriend now.

I've seen a lot of cute comics and stuff about post-war izuku having clingy separation anxiety with katsuki, physical touch soothing the inevitable PTSD nightmare. It's extremely sweet but I honestly think it'd be the other way around
Izuku tends to isolate and try to do everything for himself when he feels fucked up, it's probably a remnant of feeling helpless for so long being quirkless. But it's Katsuki that starts to physically stalk him (at arms' length) when he's anxious. Izuku clings via observation and analysis, but Katsuki lurks around corners and eavesdrops.
God if I had the time to figure out how to draw in anime comic style again (its been years) I'd love to do a silly little post war slice of life comic where everyone thinks they've gotten over their weirdness and are finally dating because the usual arms length they keep their individual styles of clinginess to fuckin' vanish.
Izuku gets more intense about his staring habit and he notetakes more obsessively, sure. But it's Katsuki that now gets pissier if he has to be more than 5 feet apart from him if they're in a room together. He doesn't say shit but he insists on physical points of contact if they sit together on a couch. He barges in on group study sessions to sit on the bed and glower. He's taken to constantly leaning elbows on Izuku's shoulders as a stand with some half-baked excuse at annoying-the-nerd.
If they're alone he'll initiate full body leans, hugs, and jam his face into Izuku whenever he gets the chance, which confused Izuku out at first since his Kacchan didn't used to be a clinger. But it's an unbelievable balm for both of 'em to hear each others' hearts beating so they keep doing it.
It takes them a full 6 years to realize they both want to be in a relationship and sort of are already, with everyone in their lives screaming on the inside about not interfering like that shit's the prime directive
