Milky Way
What are the ingredients?
A Milky Way chocolate Bar is made with sugar, glucose syrup ( includes wheat 🌾) , milk solids 🥛 , Vegetable Fat, Cocoa Butter, Cocoa Mass, Cocoa Powder , Egg white 🥚, Salt 🧂, Vanilla Extract, ( Natural Flavors)
Where does the ingredients come from ?
The main ingredients in a milk way is cocoa. The production of cocoa begins in a tropical area , where this is a hot and humid environment so that the cocoa trees can grow healthy. Cocoa beans come from four West African countries such as Ivory Coast 🇨🇮 , Ghana 🇬🇭 , Nigeria 🇳🇬 and Cameroon 🇨🇲. The other ingredients in a milk way is manufactured and distributed by the Mars Confectionery Company.
How are the ingredients produced?
Majority of the cocoa beans are produced and harvested on small family run farms. Cocoa farmers use long handles steel tools to reach the cocoa pods. The cocoa beans are them fermented. A pod contains 30 to 40 pods per tree and the farmers need at least 400 dried beans to make and sell one pound of cocoa. Farmers collect the pods in a baskets and pack them into sacks , the farmer then sells his product to a buying station. The buyer transports the beans to an export company and the sacks are inspected and put into plastic bags until shipped they are shipped to a manufacturer.
Working conditions and living conditions of farmers ?
The West - African cocoa farmers work through their family owned farms. The farmers work long hours out in the heat to make a living, if there is low productivity this will cause the farmer to have low income and have a negative impact on the growth of cocoa trees.

Chocolate is a very big industry it has created amusement parks and is shown through ads, TV commercials, social media and online.
Are there hidden cost that is not included in the price you paid ?
There are many hidden cost among chocolate, because of what is takes for the chocolate to be produced such as the labor cost , the cost for the chocolate to travel to manufactures , environmental cost and the cost for the chocolate to make it to the customer.
Now that I’ve gathered information about the components of this chocolate bar here is Its biography 🍫
Milky way was invented in 1923 by Frank C. Mars , but would of not been made without the production of cocoa beans and the farmers who grow the cocoa trees. Milky Way main ingredients are cocoa , milk , artificial flavors and includes Carmel. The cocoa in a Milky Way comes from different West African countries such as the Ivory Coast , Ghana , Nigeria and Cameroon. The farmers work long hard hours in the heat , to pick through the cocoa beans, and are required to wait a very long time because the cocoa beans have to be out in the sun to provide the famous chocolate flavor. The farmers create pounds of cocoa beans so that it is fast for the transportation and can be provided for chocolate lovers all over the world. The beans are then packed in sacks and brought to a buying station , from there the cocoa beans are inspected and moved into plastic bags so that it is safe to move to its manufacturing company. Milky Way is manufactured at a factory located in Minneapolis Minnesota. When Milkway was first produced it made at least 800,000 a year and now makes triple then when it came out.

FieldWork #11 : Social Class & Inequality
⚖️Max Weber💰
This Article aims to explain Weber’s theory of social class , by breaking down how Weber argued there is four main social classes. The four main social classes are property owners, shop owners, professionals and working class. Weber’s analysis of class can be compared to Marx theory but this article Explains the difference of their definitions of what class means and their context of social stratification.
Weber theory explains that a individual could have low social class but have a high status. A examaple is how nurses are not wealthy but according to Weber have have status because of the influence on many individuals lives. Weber believed that individuals could have the same life chances but are separated and different because of status , political influence and wealth. A lottery winner could win a lot of money but be labeled as a low status in society. Weber also believed that money did not make a persons status.

Thomas Theorem
1.African American women are labeled as aggressive, such as having a behavior as ill-tempered by nature. The consequence of this is that society misinterprets a black womens emotions.
2. In some demographic areas, mainly in low class areas there is unequal resources and unequal distribution of funding for children in public schools. The consequence of this is that young students trying to further their education will be in a difficult situation when higher education ,such as universities would only look at their performance rather than their situation.

FeildWork Assignment #5 Cultural Adaptation ♥️
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cultural Adaptation: PaceMaker♥️
I have chosen a pace maker, because in many cases there is a individual with a heart conditions that need a pacemaker , which is a small device that goes in the chest or abdomen and helps the heart beat at a normal rate. Without a pacemaker a individual with a irregular heart rhythm can cause death. Without a pace maker some individuals would not survive because their heart would not function properly while doing daily activities. Wilson Greatbatch was a American electrical engineer, who invented the pace maker in 1958, through out modern history the device was improved to better prevent heart failure. The pace maker is apart of the cultural adaptation because the device changed the way a heart can function properly so individuals could survive. The pace maker also improved the way individuals do physical activities without the device people with heart conditions would not survive because of physical strain on the heart. Overall,People would not be able to do physical activities or live very long because of a potential risk of heart failure.

FeildWork Assignment #4
Language and Gender in Classrooms 👫📚
Tumblr media
Class: Communications 300
1.There are 10 Girls and 16 Boys. Communication 300 is a class about African Diaspora that influences critical thinking, My class meets Tuesday and Thursdays. Males spoke more than the females during the lecture when the professor asked a individual to read or thoughts on the topic.
2. During the class discussion we were seated in a circle ,The females spoke 6 times for about five minutes average and the boys were more engaged and spoke about 10 times when the professor asked us questions and personal opinions on the reading assignments. When we were paired with another person , the girls spoke more during the independent time with a partner when discussing the topic.
3.The men were more confident when called on and the girls were more shy. During the class it was about two girls that were engaged and had no problem speaking to the professor about our topic on Brazil and questions asked about it.
4.My instructor is a male , who wants a lot of participation in the lesson. My professor is famous for randomly calling on people and always wants the seats in the circle so each student can participate.
5. The instructor calls on females more , even though the males aren’t shy to speak up. I feels he calls on the females the most because majority are taking to another student or paying more attention to their phone.
6.I feel as though my instructor gender does influence the way he interacts with the class, because he gives off a male dominant personality because of the way he wants to have power and control over the class. I think that personality makes people nervous to share thoughts, whereas if there was a female professor people would be less shy.

Mapping A Block💚☕️
FeildWork Assignment #3
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Location That I chosed to observe was Starbucks. I was drawn to this place because of the signature crafted drinks and the coffee Culture that many individuals are apart of. I observed that majority of the customers are adults and people who are on the go or chose to sit down to hold meetings or study. The environment of Starbucks is calm and peaceful.
During the rush hour Starbucks environment still displays an environment that is professional and peaceful even with a little more noise because of rush hour. I observed that people would come in and order fast, I figured this out because it seemed that the customers were very familiar with the menu. Most of the customers would come in by themselves or with one other person , occasionally but rare a family would come in but would not sit down. I notice the family would not sit down because Starbucks is not really a family oriented place to sit down with children. The attire that most customers were wearing was business clothing or chill clothing to grab a seat and do work on the computer. Something I never notice about Starbucks is there was a drive- thru this made me realize that in the past Starbucks never had a drive- Thru because it always was supposed to resemble a traditional coffee shop. I notice that Starbucks has a high price tag on their drinks, while speaking to someone I was able to learn that most customers come to Starbucks because they are able to get caffeine and sugar all in one.
When I visited Starbucks again , it was during the evening time and it was empty instead of the rush that I had encountered the other time I came. I realized that Starbucks is a place that people come to during the day such as early mornings or afternoons because Starbucks is a place that is able to help people get through their day with the help of their perfect caffeinated beverages.☕️💚
