So I am very slowly working at Churro’s separation anxiety.

An approach I’m considering is, maybe he needs more to do… a job, or maybe just some good puzzles now and then. Because right now his only “job” is making sure nobody leaves.

And admittedly I haven’t done a ton of training with him. He really didn’t need any practical training, he came from the shelter with perfect leash walking skills, he doesn’t touch anything in the house unless it was specifically given to him (except ONCE he picked up one of my squishmallows and used it as a pillow)

And as far as learning fun tricks… he’s just so different from Vivian. She was visually pleased when she figured something out. She loved learning. Meanwhile Churro is just like “why are you making me do things…” Not to say that I think I can’t work with him, I just haven’t had a lot of reason to yet.

So this is kind of a ramble but also a question: What are some fun activities or jobs you like to teach your dogs?

(for the record he does get two walks a day, has lots of toys, and fence to run in)

Been wanting to be more active here, maybe talk about working with Churro’s anxiety and get more advice

Thank you so much for this!

He panics as soon as we get dressed (he can tell what “town clothes” are apparently) and will scream and vocalize wildly. Sometimes it continues during the entire time someone is gone, other times he seems to calm down and wait (not really relaxed though) he has not been left completely alone yet (but I want to prepare him for that possibility.)

I will definitely be looking at that camera, looking into the resources and trying these training methods!
