Mark M. Wilson, DDS, MS, is an exceptional dentist with an impressive professional journey spanning 35 years. He sees patients at Metropolitan Periodontists in Minneapolis, MN. He has special expertise in periodontology, a challenging branch of dentistry that studies supporting structures of teeth, as well as diseases and conditions that affect them. Evidencing his expertise are his board certifications with the American Board of General Dentistry in Dentistry and the American Board of Periodontology in Periodontics. Dr. Wilson was the first dentist in Minnesota to incorporate LANAP as treatment for periodontal disease. The Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure (LANAP) proved to offer much more comfort to the patient and provide much better results than periodontal surgery, which is traditionally used to treat periodontal disease. As a result of his success in implementing LANAP, Millennium Dental, which is the company that makes the LANAP equipment, decided to have Dr. Wilson become a national instructor for their technology. Furthermore, he was honored with several Top Dentist in the Twin Cities Awards from Minnesota Monthly and Minneapolis/St. Paul Magazine as well as the Educational Community Achievement from Seattle Study Club. Mark M. Wilson, DDS, MS, completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1977 at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry. Prior to dental school, he went to North Dakota State University where he obtained a bachelor’s degree of science in chemistry in 1974. An advocate of continuing education, Dr. Wilson further obtained a Master of Science degree in Periodontology in 1980 from the University of Minnesota. In order to remain active in the challenging field of dentistry, he maintains professional society memberships in the American Dental Association, the Minnesota Dental Association, the Minnesota Academy of Periodontists, the American Academy of Periodontology, the Midwest Society of Periodontology, the Minneapolis District Dental Society, and the Minnesota Association of Periodontists. He credits his success to research, technology, and making a difference in the field. Dr. Wilson’s past times include biking, traveling, cooking, gardening, woodworking projects, baseball, and football.
