TAGGING: Marley Rose & Jake Puckerman
LOCATION: Times Square/Various places in New York
TIME FRAME: New Years Eve
NOTES: oops, i don't even know. feels.
Jake Puckerman
He pulls away from the hug and looks at her for a moment but seems like a long time. He tries to memorize her features. He hasn’t known her that well but he can already tell how she’s feeling even when she tries to hide it. But only sometimes. Most of the time he’s just guessing but this time he can see that she’s trying to hide a smile.
He smiles at her. Not a smirk. An actual smile. The way the street light shines onto her, makes it look there’s a halo above her head. He laughs lightly at that. “Regret it or not, this will be a night you won’t forget. For you, I hope you don’t regret it. It’s an amazing thing to watch.” He looks up at the countdown. There’s about an hour left on it. He looks back at her and shrugs. “Well, we have an hour to kill. Better make the most of it.”
He looks down to where she’d shoved her hands in. “It is a bit a cold out here, isn’t it? It would suck a lot if you got sick in the beginning of the year. So let’s get you warm.” He takes her hands out of her jacket and rubs them between his palms. “Just trust me. I promise there won’t be any funny businesses. I’m just trying to keep you warm.” He releases her hands and walks behind her and wraps his arms around her. He laces his fingers with hers before he puts them in the pocket of his leather jacket. His jacket’s not big enough to wrap around both of them but she’s already all bundled up in layers so he wasn’t too concerned about that. It’s her hands. They feel ice cold.
He rests his chin onto her shoulder slightly. “See…no funny business. Just keeping you warm,” he tells her into her ear. He squeezes her hands just a little before looking up at the countdown again. He lets out a sigh of content, his mind going to into the minutes ahead when the ball would drop and the clock runs down to zero to bring in the new year. For once in his laugh he feels nervous. Why? He keeps wondering to himself. Maybe it’s the fact that he has no clue of what’s going to happen at midnight. He completely passed the ball onto her court and he doesn’t have the slightest idea of what she’s thinking right now.
Marley Rose
Her gaze meets him as she sees a smile form over his lips, and it's something that actually suits him. She likes the look, the genuine smile and not the signature smirk that he always wears. Getting to know Jake is something Marley doesn't regret, because, well, he's actually kind of perfect. He's sweet and nice, and he's actually sort of funny. She drops her gaze after those thoughts creep their way into her mind because she's Marley Rose and she's got to focus on school.
Letting out a quiet exhale of air and looking up at the lights, admiring them and allowing a second to take it all in, she lets out a slight hum as she nods her head once. "I'm sure it won't be something I'll regret." Her words are faint, and as she speaks the corner's of her lips form into a small smile.
Her nerves kick in as soon as he takes her hands, her cheeks turning a slight pink color at his touch, but she's calmed slightly as he assures her that no funny business will take place. She gives a slightly apprehensive nod in response. For once, she's going to be trusting him, because he's been so amazing to her so far. She's debates telling him that she trusts him about that, but she decides that it best not to, because maybe that will just feed his ego and make him change him mind. "Thanks."
She's almost shaking, her heart's beating a thousand miles a minute and she keeps running through possibilities that could happen tonight. Something's wrong with her, because she should not be feeling like standing next to him, holding his hand (not that that's exactly what she's doing) and just enjoying his company, is meant to be. It's perfect and just seems... right, because she's not supposed to be thinking anything like that. No, Marley needs to focus on her career, focus on her life and her goals. Not a guy, right?

TAGGING: Marley Rose & Jake Puckerman
LOCATION: Times Square/Various places in New York
TIME FRAME: New Years Eve
NOTES: I know sore and stuff. I also know sleepy ('specially when you work graves so you only get like five hours of sleep daily) But never at the same time. I'll keep my life, thanks. I'm content with it rn. Also, pardon the crappy reply.
Jake Puckerman
He laughs, seeing her smile. A genuine smile. Something rare and he has been lucky enough to see it once or twice and only for a split second at a time. Something about her smile makes his lips turn into a smile itself. And even when he tries to resist the smile he can’t. So he smiles as she does biting down on his lower lip as he tries not to smile too much. It was no use and he finally gives up, releasing his lips. Instead he turns it into a smirk and nudges her shoulder lightly. “Hmm, maybe. Maybe I’m anticipating you kissing me…” He looks back to the crowd of people still taking pictures of each other and trashcans. He laughs at that then turns his attention back to Marley.
He sees her shiver and he gets the instinct to put an arm over her shoulder and pull her close to give her some warmth. He raises his arm to do so but diverts to rubbing his face with his gloved hands. Then he shoves his hands back into his pocket rocking back and forth. “It’s a little cold out here isn’t it? I’ve seen it colder though. It would be cool if it started snowing but I don’t think it’s cold enough for that,” he shrugs as he looks up to the countdown.
“For the record, I wouldn’t have left you here by yourself. Especially if this is your first time being here. I know you keep to yourself a lot and being in a crowd like this isn’t exactly in your comfort. But thank you for doing this for me. For coming out with me tonight. I know I haven’t made the best impressions but I will make it up to you,” he smiles at her and stretches his hand for her to shake then pulls it back. “Actually, I think we’re at the stage of friendship where I could give you a hug instead,” he laughs lightly then goes in for the hug and hopes that she wouldn’t push him away.
Marley Rose
With a roll of her eyes, Marley doesn't reply, she figures the look on her face will do that almost better than any words she could say. She sticks her hands in the front pocket of her jacket, the noise of the surrounding crowds making it almost impossible to hear anything around her, so she's almost glad that she didn't say anything in the chance that she would have to repeat herself, and what she was thinking about saying, a joking reply, of course, would not be fun to say again.
A minute or so passes with comfortable silence as her eyes dart around, watching everyone being the ridiculous, obnoxious selves, trying to ring in the New Year the best way possible. All Marley is focused on, however, is staying warm. She looks up at Jake and nods once. "Yeah, kind of." She lets out a soft, barely audible laugh through her words. "I love the snow, but if it was cold enough for snow you can be sure I would be leaving. I don't really feel like ending the year and starting the new one sick."
The words he's saying now almost make a smile form across her tinted lips. Almost, but not quiet, because she's still got the wretch of pain in her chest from the incident the day previous. "Hopefully I won't regret it." Those are the only words she can think of to say about his statement, and she hopes he understands what she really means by saying those five words. She's slightly taken aback as he gives her a hug, but she doesn't so anything, she just gives him the simple, almost awkward return hug, because she can tolerate him and he deserves at least that.

TAGGING: Marley Rose & Jake Puckerman
LOCATION: Times Square/Various places in New York
TIME FRAME: New Years Eve
NOTES: Let's trade. My arms hurt.
Jake Puckerman
He’s pretty sure she’s pissed at him by the tone of her voice. He thinks for a moment…whether to tell her the reason why he was late or not. He shoves his hands in his pockets and moves over to stand beside her. “Sorry I’m late. It’s…I ran into some people,” he says finally as he leans closer to her. “You’re mad…I know you’re mad. I’ll make it up to you,” He says a little louder as the noise of the crowd began to get louder.
He looks around to all the people that were there. Same as it always was every years he went there. Except this time is was just slightly different. He’s not there with just any girl. He’s there with a friend who really doesn’t seem to like him. Only agrees to the things he suggests probably just to get him to leave her alone.
He shrugs as he looks over the crowd, mostly tourists who kept taking pictures of everything. He smirks when she says something about some middle-aged man trying to kiss her at midnight. “Is that your way of telling me that you want to be kissed at midnight?” He says with a little laughter in his voice. He leans over to her and whispers right into her ear. “Maybe…maybe if I’m lucky enough to get a kiss from you, you’ll have your kiss.” He pulls away and looks at her. “But, of course, I know you’re completely repulsed by me so…” He trails off still laughing. In all honesty, though, he does want to kiss her. Not for the sake of it being New Year’s Eve or even because she was a girl and being the stud muffin he is, he feels the need to kiss the girl he’s currently with. No, he wanted to kiss her because she has some kind of pull to him and it’s driving him crazy that he’s investing so much in her that he’s willing to be friends with her and willing to get to know her before he can try to make any moves on her
Marley Rose
She shakes her head and gives an attempt at a reassuring smile. "I'm not mad." She knows that she's lying through her teeth. Of course she's mad, they made plans and just like the last time they made plans, he was late. It could have been worse, he could have just not shown all together. "Like I said, you're here now and that's all that matters." Marley will just have to put on her big girl pants and get over it. Sometimes things happen and they're out of everyone else's control. Just because he ran into some people doesn't mean that he wanted to. It doesn't mean they were girl, and it most certainly doesn't mean he was hitting on them like the Jake Puckerman she knew (and had secretly, kinda-sorta, grown fond of his company  but she doesn't think that she'll ever admit that to anyone. She's barely admitting it to herself).
And just as she saw if coming, Jake jumped to the conclusion that she wished he didn't. But did she really wish he didn't? Because the words he was saying kind of, maybe, appealed to her. In a weird way. She wasn't sure if it was the fact that if he did kiss her at midnight it would be her first New Years Kiss (ever), or the fact that she might actually like to kiss him. She mentally shakes off the possibility of the latter, because that's just an absurd thought.
Marley lets out a chuckle, a genuine smile now making it's way across her lips. "Oh, you'd like that wouldn't you?" She licks her bottom lip, her gaze dropping from his and down to the ground. She lets out a soft breath of air, clicking her tongue against the top of her mouth. "I'm not completely repulsed by you. I can tolerate you. If I didn't, I wouldn't be standing here in this crazy mob of people who could probably kill me if they wanted to." She uses her gloved hand to brush a lock of her behind her left ear, which she immediately regrets because the slight breeze brings a chill along with it.

TAGGING: Marley Rose & Jake Puckerman
LOCATION: Times Square/Various places in New York
TIME FRAME: New Years Eve
NOTES: Finally. Here's your horrendous reply from me.
JAKE PUCKERMAN
It’s not that Jake had a thing for this girl…well, she was a beautiful girl after all so there’s the initial attraction to her. The way she carries herself and how she always seems like she wasn’t interested in him is what was pulling him to her. Sure Jake still has his abundant source of women but they all seem to throw themselves at him with one simple hello and a smile from him. No, Marley was different. He knew it the first time he met her. He still can’t quite figure her out but he isn’t about to give up either.
So he showers and goes through all the motions whenever he would go to meet a girl. This time though, she wasn’t just any girl. She’s starting to become his friend. Besides his mom, he’s never really seen a girl more than once. Twice or more…on the chance that he sees them randomly on the street but that was a rare occasion. He’d hung out with this girl and even offered to do things for her that he wouldn’t normally do for anyone else like pick her up from the airport. He had been the one that insisted on it. She did seem a little annoyed with his sign but it wasn’t like he didn’t warn her about it.
He checks himself in the mirror after shaving his face and pulling on a fresh set of clothes. He shakes his head at the thought that he actually went out of his way to but new clothes just to impress(?) this girl. No it can’t be, because Jake’s a stud and well, he doesn’t need to try to impress anybody. He pulls on a sweater over his head then grabs his leather jacket. It was his trademark apparel. If he wasn’t already a badass, then the jacket turned him into one. He smirks at himself in the mirror then checks his pockets to make sure he has everything: keys (check), wallet (check), condoms (check…not that he was planning to get any tonight. He doubted that but one can never be to sure), money (check), ID (check).
He locks his door and shuts it close. He makes his way toward the spot he and Marley agreed to meet at. It shouldn’t be taking him so long to get there. Twenty minutes tops but, of course, as he had to stop a few times to chat up some ladies on the way there and if he wasn’t already with Marley that night, he probably would have tried to take one of them to the Square and then back to his apartment after the ball dropped. He checks his watch and realizes his a little behind schedule so he starts power walking to their meet up place. He passes by a floral kiosk and kindly “borrows” a rose from the stands. It’s form of apology and he thinks she’ll accept. He hopes anyway.
He finally reaches his destination and there she was, already waiting for him. He walks up behind her with one arm behind his back, holding onto the flower. “Hey beautiful,” he whispers loudly into her ear. There was already a lot of noise from big crowd. “Sorry I’m late,” he offers her a smile before revealing the rose. “Forgive me?”
Marley Rose
She really doesn't like crowds. OKay, so she would like crowds of people if they were there to watch her preform, but being in a crowd is a different story. That's why she never went to a concert (and the fact that those cost money), because it would mean standing in a giant pit of people all trying to get some attractive young singer to fall in love with them just by glancing at them for half a second. Maybe that's why she was apprehensive to come to this big extravaganza, although she highly doubts that's what it is.
And then she hears the all to familiar voice in her ear. She licks her bottom lip before turning slightly on the ball of her foot to face him. She rolls her eyes as he apologizes, because she's got the feeling that he really isn't sorry. She's already irritated enough about the stunt he pulled picking her up yesterday, so why she's still here with him she's unsure, but in order to avoid any awkwardness, she simply nods. "Yeah, you're fine." She lets out a small breath of air escape her lips as she sees the flower in his slightly extended hand, remembering to the time when they first met up, and this is a serious case of deja vu, except, now there's like a hundred times the amount of people here now.
"At least you showed up. If you didn't, I'd probably be stuck here all night with no way out of this crowd and be forced to stand next to some creepy guy who will hit on me all night and then at midnight make a not-so-subtle attempt to get that New Years Kiss." She lets out a soft chuckle before realizing what words she had just said. She hopes silently that he doesn't think that she's going to want to kiss him at midnight, because she doesn't, absolutely doesn't. Marley's just hoping that if she's spending the night with someone that creepy middle-aged men who have just divorced their wives will think that she's with him.

TAGGING: Marley Rose & Jake Puckerman
LOCATION: Times Square/Various places in New York
TIME FRAME: New Years Eve
NOTES: sigh;i dont even know.
MARLEY ROSE A long sleeved-red sweater, a black jacket and add on top of both of those, a thin white coat, with all of that, Marley figures that she won't freeze tonight. So, surely that's not why she's apprehensive to even set foot out of her dorm room. Her roommate left about an hour ago, and it almost seemed as if she wanted Marley to join her to the party she was going to with one of the upperclassmen, simply because she didn't want to seem like the girl with the loser roommate. So, Marley stands looking herself over on the door length mirror on the back of their door.
She actually took the effort to look somewhat nice tonight, because she knows what goes down on New Years here, even if she had only ever seen it on the box TV set that her mom had. Never in her life had she actually thought she'd be going to the big New Years Extravaganza that is a big deal all over the place, not just here.
In all honesty, there's a part of her that's really looking forward to going to this with Jake, even if she is mildly annoyed at him right now, after what he did when he picked her up from the airport (she knew that it would be a bad idea to trust him, but for some reason she just really wants to), so it's more of actually being there, then the being there with Jake. She bites her bottom lip, pulling her phone out of her back pocket and checking the time. She's supposed to meet up with Jake rather soon, so she grabs the red scarf off of her dresser, and with one last look over in her mirror, she steps out of her dorm room.

Ooh burn! That may actually have hurt. Right here. If you could see me I'm pointing to my chest where my heart would be. Yeah. It hurts. :P ...you really think it won't be me making you smile? We'll see. I love a good challenge.
Have fun trying to accomplish that task.
I'm not ashamed to admit that when I saw the word burn I thought about it in Ashton Kutcher's voice.

what are your new year's resolutions?
I dunno, I haven't really thought about it.
I guess one would to be a little more social. You can't really get into the music business being antisocial.

I'll know eventually. ;) Just you wait Marley Rose. New Year's Eve is tomorrow and I'm sure you'll be smiling plenty.
Right, well, it's the start of a new year, so I'm sure a smile will be cracked at one point during the night.
I'm sure you won't be the cause of it, though.
