during my trip to the moma Museum, two artworks that resonated with me were the peices by georgia okeeffe
the particular piece by okeeffe that resonated with me did so because in the description and explained that she had drawn this picture around seven times. It went to explain that the reason she does this is because she wants to get it perfect. this resonates with me, because when I am working on a piece of artwork, I feel the same way, as if there is always need for improvement. This tells viewers a lot about not only her work ethic, but about okeeffe as a person in general. Many artists can relate to the feeling of their work being subpar as well as the feeling of needing to redo their work. okeeffes collection, puts this feeling on display.
another piece by Okeefe, which resonated with me, was one of her landscapes, the painting which is done in watercolour is not a traditional landscape in the sense that she is not trying to capture the image, accurately, visually, but rather she is taking her own spin on what she sees. While it is still somewhat obvious that the painting is of a landscape, are use of water colour allows for a more free and vibrant design. The water colours mixed together, creating a vibrant and eye-catching design. I particularly like this piece because it shows that there are more than one way to convey an image rather than just painting exactly what you see. Her work inspires me to expand my art work in different and unusual ways.
during my visit to the moma museum, I was exposed to multiple different artistic movements, for example the moma showcased works from the modern, contemporary and expressionism eras. modern art is shown in architecture, paintings, drawings, among other things, modern Art sometimes utilises Cubism, and it has most noteably influenced American art through modern architecture. expressionism can sometimes utilise abstract methods of painting. It has open the door for modern day artists to express themselves in unique and unfamiliar ways. contemporary art can sometimes be seen in technological ways, it has influenced American Art, notably through the use of a I and digital art.
in general, the more modern, pieces of art resonated with me personally, because they are most of the time neat and utilise CleanCut shapes this resonates with me because I like it when things are neat because it helps me focus, and I am able to understand the art more clearly.
overall, my trip to the Momo Museum has inspired me to explore more mediums, and thrust myself into unfamiliar, and sometimes uncomfortable new forms of art.
