To all the systems/plurals out there, thank you for banding together as a community. Whether it was willed into existence, was natural for you, or was caused/influenced by trauma, you're all valid as systems.

And to add to that, thank you. All of you. Thank you for creating a space where we can be happy and share in the experience of plurality. Even though the pain and trauma many of us suffer from the world around us (regardless of it's impact or lack thereof on your plurality) can be a lot, it's amazing to look out and see so many of us being happy!

Seeing that this experience is more than just misery, disassociation, amnesia, and difficulty with relationships helped pull me out a rut and find the joy in being plural. Hanging out with my headmates instead of fighting. Embracing plurality rather than focusing on if I'm "faking" or not. Spending our time together. All of us loving and being loved by partners in our own ways.

The warmth of this community has directly effected and increased the quality of my life. So from the bottom of my heart, thank you. Thank you for being unapologetically yourselves.

Most things ive seen regarding transrace have roots in racism and cultural appropriation, so im curious on how to handle it without being harmful.

atypical dysphoria is really something you should look up online too, but, its as it sounds like: dysphoria for something not related to gender.

our atypical dysphoria often has to do with height, place of birth, appearance of our skin, and the like

but to go into detail about what i mentioned:

according to our atypical dysphoria, we should have been born in russia. there are lots of ways, some of which are bad and highkey problematic, to go about making this dysphoria feel better. we choose the route of learning the russian language, which is nonoffensive and even something people without atypical dysphoria do. we also have the option of listening to russian music, cooking russian foods, updating our wardrobe, visiting the place when its not so dangerous - since its not a closed culture by any means, theres a lot we could do.

attempting to physically transition to slavic is where things would start going off the rails. attempting any physical transition involving race is usually extremely bad.

the important part is respecting the culture/race in question. most RCTA folks dont.

fun fact, if your atypical dysphoria says you should be black when you're white you can still do things that arent offensive. namely.... changing what you eat! and buying from black owned businesses. a lot of black culture is something that white folks shouldnt touch with a 10 foot pole, but food is something entirely universal. i do not know of a single culture whos cuisine is closed (but if i am wrong, yknow, correct me).

It's always so weird to see those RCTA(race change to another) people justify their "transition" with race dysphoria. But the thing is, theyre ALWAYS japanese or korean. Theyre always the "desirable" race. I havent seen someone who claims to be RCTA transition to a culture like a south asian one/anything that they cant fetishize, but i dont doubt they exist.

yeah thats how it be lmfao. we actually DO have atypical dysphoria in this area. we feel like we should have been born in russia and have felt that way since 8 years old. we are learning russian about it 🤷‍♂️ its as shrimple as that.

depends entirely on whats going on there. transrace is a term that wasnt originally radqueer and thats where a big portion of issues lie; it was originally meant to refer to children being adopted by a family of a different race (i.e. a black couple adopting a white child would make the child transracial or transrace)

if the transrace individual in question is a transracial adoptee, thats whatever. do what you want you were raised in that culture you can own it if you want

now onto radqueer usage. radqueers appropriated and co-opted the term, which highkey fucking sucks to begin with, especially for the original users of the term. theyre now being conflated with racist culture appropriation and worse.

depending on the race and the choice of transition method, though, its not. ALWAYS harmful transitioning, but. im gonna be deadass with you 80% of the radqueer usage of transrace we've seen has been white kids being insanely racist/appropriative (and in some cases, full on slur usage). so. do with that what you will

if the radqueers idea of transitioning is "learning a language and engaging with the culture in a nonappropriative way and potentially even moving to a new country" we would genuinely not gaf. that would not be harmful transitioning thats kinda just a thing all kinds of people do

but if theyre pulling ariana griande levels of skin darkening and trying to pass as black, then weeeee have a whole new problem dont we?

atypical dysphoria is a very real issue, radqueer bs aside. if your atypical dysphoria is around your race, you should take some serious considerations as to what would and wouldnt be a harmful method to transition. if you feel like you should have been born black, there is nothing wrong with consuming black media, cooking typical black meals for yourself, engaging with the culture in a way that does not appropriate or harm anyone. calling yourself transrace or any variant thereof is inherently harmful, however, because of the fact that the term itself was appropriated and is associated with racism and appropriation to begin with

radqueers are hard to describe, so lets start with "a subsect of the MOGAI community". "radical queers" on paper does seem like a good idea. theyre pro-queer, pro-para, pro-endo, pro-good faith identities, and so far, all that sounds great, and you and i probably are also both pro these things.

until you get to the part where many radqueers fully believe children and animals can consent ("pro-contact radqueers"), as well as support harmful transitioning (i.e. RCTA/transrace/trace where people want to transition to a different race from their bodies) and just awful transid stuff in general (stuff like transautism where someone allistic wants to transition to having autism)

they also have a HUGE problem with ignoring dnis. radqueers WILL interact with anti radqueers as if its their god given fucking duty. so as a reminder to any radqueers who read this and think its a bright idea to send me an ask

looking at any kind of trans supplies focused online shop is depressing because there will either be a complete absence of anything for transfems or like. a really sad transfem section with 5 items at the end of a list full of binders and packers and harnesses

In a truck stop bathroom washing my hands today and 2 boys, looked about 5 and 9, came in with their little sister who looked maybe 2. The following whispered conversation made my entire day

"We have to wait, there's a lady in here!"

"That's not a lady, he has a mustache! We can be in here!"

"Some ladies have mustaches! And she has boobs!"

"Well some guys have boobs! Like Uncle Jake!"

"Uncle Jake is fat!"

At this point I could not contain a chuckle and both whirled around with identical looks of panic on their faces. I smiled and said "it's alright for you guys to be in here so your sister has help, don't worry. And I'm both! That's why I have boobs and a mustache. Some folks are just built that way"

(In unison) "Ooooooh!"

(older boy) "So do you use Sir or Ma'am or both?"

"Both, but I prefer Sir"

"Cool! Well thanks Sir! We have to help our sister now!"

This was in a small town country truck stop and both boys had "Murica" type stuff on and neither of them had any issue at all with these concepts. Their mom approached me while I was in line about 10 minutes later and apologized for them bothering me in the bathroom (they had told her about the interaction) and she and I had a lovely little chat too. I got to introduce her to the term "intersex" and her reply was "I think I've heard of that before! I didn't know that was the word for it. Amazing how many different ways God can make people!"

Sometimes the world is good. More often than you might think, if you give it a chance. It's not all bad loves <3
