26th- 30th/100 DAYS OF PRODUCTIVITY

WEDNESDAY, 2ND JULY
i didn't have the best couple of days over the last few days. i spent a lot of time doomscrolling and bed-rotting. but i did go out with friends over the weekend and we had a great time. i'm gonna be moving out of my parents house sometime this month, and i am nervous as shit. that's been on my mind for a while now and it's making me very anxious. ofcourse i'm excited, but i'm so so nervous too. anyways i made a cute cat bookmark to help myself feel better <3

a couple of days ago I found a very very easy scholarship application that would apply to 40 at once. and it was due in 3 days. and for the first two days I thought no way bro there's thousands of applicants on each one it is not worth the time. and then on the last day, at 9pm, I was like no that's absolutely stupid it's so easy write the essay. and I finished at 11pm and went straight to bed thinking "that essay was alright!! it follows the format of a scholarship essay and I really think you can tell that I care about my major :)))" and the MOMENT I WOKE UP THE NEXT MORNING I just. I was like wow that's the worst essay I've ever written in my life. anyways.
I looked at the individual scholarships and a lot of them said they would choose more than one person......... cmon................ one of you guys has to like my crappy essay about how much I like old things
#SIIIGHHHHSSS well the other scholarships i was looking at ended in September. although i would like to know how much money I'm getting#Before the semester starts but whatever...........#I'm also entering an art contest#mostly for fun butttt the first like 5 places are a good amount of money 👀#i think those are even harder to win than scholarships lmao but I guess I'll try at least I'll have fun#chaotic studyblr#disabled studyblr#laugh at me right now

shocking how much of writing is putting down a sentence and then thinking, "okay, but now a less shitty version of that"

Books are far easier to read when they're not assigned. Even the exact same text lights up the page without the Veil of Obligation™ and the Shadow of Dread©.

i think i'm going to do a smaller goal this year (25k maybe? i want to raise that number but i'll do it after i reach it) just because of health issues + whatever tf is going on with nanowrimo rn + i just feel like writing some random silly stuff. in addition to redshift.
i still set the goal on nanowrimo but i'm going to be using this website for the actual tracking and update the goal on nanowrimo whenever i feel like it i guess

Since the whole thing with NaNoWriMo has gone down, I've noticed that one of their former sponsors, Ellipsus, has cut contact with NaNoWriMo because they do not support their stance on AI; I didn't know what Ellipsus was, but upon further research I've found that they are a writing platform that works a lot like Google Docs and Microsoft Word, only with a heavier leaning on the story-writing aspect and connecting with other writers - and they also completely denounce any use of AI, both in the writing process itself and in the use of their platform. I really appreciate that.
Since this is the case (and since I've noticed Google has begun implementing more AI into their software), I've decided to give Ellipsus a try to see if it's a good alternative to Google Docs (my main writing platform). It's completely free and so far, I've found it simple to use (although it is pretty minimal in its features), and I really like the look of it.
I figured I'd spread the word about this platform in case any of you writers would want to give it a try, and if you do, let me know how you like it!

rises up out of the ground like a. like a. uh. a scary thing.
hi guys
#making people interact is difficult when you barely do it and they're not in school how are they supposed to meet#at work?? the main character doesn't go to work at the start of the story they got a freaking concussion and memory loss!!!#REDSHIFT

Enough of the trope where memory loss undoes the damage or the corruption or whatever. More content where removing memories just removes the context.
The tragedy of needing to grieve and not knowing what or who you lost or why. The angst of having trauma and being denied the awareness that it's trauma. The suspense of being different somehow and left to wonder how and when. The tension of knowing that something is off and you can't find where it hurts. The Adventure Zone gets it. Kingdom Hearts gets it.
There is an aching inside you and you don't know how it got there.

the strangest thing I've ever seen
oh my cod.
this took so long.
I started this back in October so I would have something nice to look at when I checked in for Nanowrimo... obviously I did not finish it by November lol but it was still fun to do!!!
here's some process photossss:
(I drew a terrifying amount of thumbnail sketches. It was in my head so clearly but it was so difficult to get)

I think this photo makes me look like a very skilled artist. also I think it's pretty. Look at that lighting yes it is wonderful to work in
chaos (I worked so hard on that toilet and that lamp and both of them are covered dude. For the sake of not making this any longer than it already is I won't include more photos but imagine perspective lines everywhere. Every color. Red (Red Rose) Blue(-da-ba-dee) green yellow cyan orange okay I don't think I got that far but it was bad so many layers I kept drawing on the wrong layer it was soo bad
this is the first version of the piece I finished in... December... for an art assignment. I don't know how I forgot to put a soap bottle on the sink when Sophie washes their hands in this scene... like it's the whole main focus....
Also the colors are different because my laptop colors absolutely suck and make everything more blue and desaturated. I asked like 10 different people and it is definitely a problem with my computer so I adjusted the colors in the top image... started doing that at 7:09 pm today thinking it would only take 20 minutes and it is uh. 10:40 pm. sobs
the colors are very accurate to what I am seeing on my screen though I promise you
anyways one more yapping section THE LORE!!! so basically REDSHIFT is a thing I've been working for a couple of years now, started as a book in like journal entry format and now it's flip flopping between a very small animated series or a very small movie I don't know which one. anyways
it starts when Sophie wakes up in a strange place after supposedly falling and hitting her head and she's pretty much fine except that she literally does not remember anything about herself and also forgot some Very Important details about the planet she lives on. Her best friend of 20something (Ashley) years takes them in and helps them adjust. As they're adjusting they realize that there is something very very wrong with where they live and they start to doubt whether it was really a bad fall that got them there and whether her friends and doctors are lying to her. And then strange things start happening, Sophie starts to get weird dreams and the things they find in their apartment get stranger and stranger and they're getting some strange cold... all up until they doodle some stars on their hand one day and it won't come off...
and by then Ashley admits that there is in fact something wrong with where they live but just as they attempt to fix it they are caught up in the consequences of Ashley's earlier actions!!! I sure wonder what she did (I'm not going to tell you that yet the timeline is complicated and my docs are even more complicated okay)
Anyways back to where this thing even happens it's a dystopian sci-fi story!!! which means. It takes place in a dystopia. And it is sciency. Their planet is really nice you know they've been the most environmentally friendly planet for the past 117 years in a row!! Did you know that they contribute to the largest space arsenal in the universe and they have some of the best technology??? WOw good for. them. okay im tired man I want to be done writing this it's late lol. Also there's Steve I didn't mention Steve because he's kind of irrelevant big happenings wise only character development wise but he's very cool and I think u guys will Love Him he becomes Sophie's friend :))
anyways one more thing about half of the population here are kind of just... voids. Like space voids. Like you look at them and they're just a silhouette of a person and you just see space through them. It's a bit inconvenient at times yeah you can't tell people apart unless they're wearing clothes yeah there are other planets with only humans and only spacey peoples and other planets have other species entirely but they're all pretty much in their own bubble and this one's got flesh humans and space humans. They've got quite a history I think you will find. Very big on science... experimentation innovation whatever... personal improvement. just want to make their world a bit better you know...
okay that is all. goodnight
