I tried filming a study timelapse for the first time!!! I think it came out okay?? Lemme know in the notes :3
Today was actually pretty good. I'm being consistent in my 8-5 sleep schedule, and the mornings are always so peaceful. I've started posting a bit on my studygram too, but really, that's only for trying something new. I'm a Tumblr user through and through :D
I studied OS (operating systems). Pretty interesting so far. We haven't started Computer Networks class yet, and I'm kinda looking forward to it. Hopefully all these theory heavy subjects don't kick my ass (narrows eyes at CA during last semester)

I started off in college as an education major wanting to be a middle school science teacher, but ended up quitting that because of how ableist the major was.
I switched to an agriculture degree because I grew up on a farm, and during 2020 I was constantly at home and convinced myself I could physically do the work, and I completed that degree despite the professors being ableist and morally questionable.
While I was an Ag major, I was working for the geology museum on campus, and decided to get my Masters degree in museum studies. During my studies, I realized how disabled people are constantly left out of deai discussions in the museum field, only ever seen as potential visitors and never potential workers, and so I finished my degree with independent research into how disabled staff are treated.
During my last semester in grad school, I started working as a substitute teacher and realized that my education major professors were wrong; I as a disabled person can totally be a teacher without a problem. My grad school advisor also told me that a lot of myself professionals go back and forth between the school system and museums. So I'm taking the leap to try to become a teacher
I just took my GACE (the Georgia certification test) and passed at a professional level! Once I am hired by a school, I will start taking the remainder of classes that I need to be considered a full fledged teacher
I've literally just made a circle, but the agriculture and museum studies degrees are still a huge help to me as a science educator. Other than space, agriculture perfectly set me up to understand everything required for students to learn and places me in a good spot to introduce an FFA chapter to the school, while my museum studies degree has allowed me to see education from a different perspective than my coworkers in order to more adequately come up with ideas in joint discussions. Additionally, I included disability and deai research in almost everything I did from work to school, and as a disabled person myself, I feel that my understanding of accessibility and empathy for other disabled people has prepared me more for interacting with disabled students in my classes.
Not a single bit of my journey was for naught, and I no longer feel ashamed or regretful towards my agriculture degree. I'm also excited to continue learning and eventually helping others to learn too

3.22.2025 / talking about differences
what works for you might not work for everyone and what works for everyone might not work for you
"studying in bed is bad for your sleep health" - sure but if it's the only way you can study on a bad day where you can barely get out of bed? better than nothing
"you should always handwrite your notes, it improves comprehension" - it absolutely does but i cant write more than a few sentences without losing feeling in my fingers, so typing is the better option for me
"you should do xyz to study, it really works" - things that work for one person might not work for you, its worth a shot but if it doesnt work, don't keep forcing it
i feel like this is something really important to realize for mentally ill, disabled, and neurodivergent people especially. what works for everyone might not work for you.
a personal story, for years i had people tell me to do things x way and a few months ago my therapist was like... "well just try studying in bed and see if it goes okay, because you cant study sitting up for long periods" (chronic pain) and it literally changed my world. i can study in bed just fine. sure it might not be ideal for everyone, but for me, it helps a lot and lets me be able to study more and do more things i enjoy, even if i'm doing them in an atypical manner!

1/7/25 - Feeling productive today despite a bit of a migraine! I’ve started my internship and just finished my first presentation, re-started knitting a sweater (had to frog a bunch of it and start over lol), finished the first two chapters of boot.devs python coding course, and picked up some books I bought forever ago (for a class that got canceled rip)! Also yesterday I got back into my workout/PT routine and gave myself a gel manicure for the first time. Hope I can keep this up! I think I’m going to try to do lesson one of Bill Vicars’ ASL course today unless more work comes in or my migraine gets worse (hopefully eletriptan will save me though). Feels good to get back into the swing of things after a rough month or two! I need to figure out a better way to format these posts so I’m not just rambling, but this is it for now!
#study#studyblr#september speaks#disabled studyblr#spoonie#spoonie studyblr#also I’m using new earbud my mom got me (the case is in the picture) and they are so so much more comfortable and clearer than my old ones#especially with my inner/middle ear pressure issues#also they’re pretty!! you can’t really see in the pic but they and the case are iridescent it’s so fun

i need teachers and professors who have mandatory attendance to not take your class for “fun walks” and think like 30 seconds about disabled people
i’m not going to have the energy to do my homework tonight or go to the dinning hall because my professor who has 2 class hours in the day has decided we’re gonna walk around for both class hours

My vertigo has been killing me since yesterday but I managed to complete most of my to-dos! Most of them because the psychical ones have been impossible to do. Today when my mum comes home I’ll get to it so I don’t get koed by my symptoms.
Declutter my laptop and make space for the new semester
Do my annual digital security load
Prepare a Percy Jackson rpg one shot for some friends
Organize and clean my room
If I complete it later maybe I’ll check in here to let you know. Until then, stay safe <3

update on my courses ✨
so i'm in 3 courses rn and here's the update for each
accommodations / support :
got approved for 4-8 hours worth of peer tutoring aka my friend is gonna give me feedback on my assignments and get paid 2-4x the minimum wage for it !!
applied for oral or visual (aka conversation & presentation) assessment methods for my history class so i can catch up faster
intro to indigenous ed
got an extension until the end of the month !! if i didn't get this extension my degree would've been delayed a full year 💀
history of the indigenous peoples of turtle island (north america)
applied for deferred standing aka i have until august to finish stuff, hopefully this gets approved !!
teacher practicum course
got a placement for half my mandatory days which is better than nothing !! multiple ppl have passed the course with less than the required amount of days so i'm not totally fucked here lmaooo
i have to apply for at least 2 summer courses to keep my student grant/loan status so i'll let yall what i choose !! probably a lower level course related to history/culture, foreign language (arabic or an indigenous language), english literature, and i think there's 1 second year teacher course i'm missing so probably that if it's available ?

Last night I went to bed late because I took the time to tidy up and cook and have dinner. For that I am paying the price of a painful body this morning. I could not get up in time to attend my last phonology class of the semester, but I might be able to catch the last morphology class... it starts in ten minutes, so I'll be a little late, but I live on campus so it's doable. 🤞

January 30, 2025 • Thursday
--- 15 days of productivity • COLLAB CHALLENGE WITH @winryrockbellwannabe and @nanthegirl • Day 12/15 ---
📝 AJ'S study time: 0h (rest up queen)
📝 Nan's study time: 4h 6min
📝 Iris's study time: 4h 30min
I have become one with the darkness. Sometimes I feel so frustrated with my inability to study I feel like dropping out. I think I'm gonna feel more relief than joy when I finally finish third year. Fibro has ruined my love for my degree. Frickin hell.
Well, here's to another exam that I'm so underprepared for.

For low energy/Chronic fatigue
Study in the mornings before classes before you crash from executive dysfunction or exhaustion (spoonies know what I mean)
Study in bed if you've no energy.
Keep your laptop/note book with a mug of pens on your bedside locker so you don't have to get up to get them,
if you don't have the energy to sit up, or it's too painful but you still want/need to work, work lying down, like you would reading a book before bed. Nobody is going to judge you and nobody is going to see you, you're getting the work done how you can and that is something to be proud of, not embarrassed of.
Work on your phone if you can, it's less effort and typing is easier than writing and your phone weighs less than your textbook
Online flashcards or online quizzes. You justuse your brain, and click to see if you got itright, or you click answer a, b, or c. Or just anything online.

100 Days of Productivity (2/100)

February 5th 2024
Today was very exhausting. just. in general. I slept all day by accident and also mmm chronic fatigue. but! I’m up doing stuff. I really need to fix my sleep schedule but I’m at least sleeping before 3am. A true feat in mintchigan land.
Productive/Selfcare
Did my weekly bujo layout (just until I get my hobonichi lol)
Applied to college
Studied some of my SAT book stuff however it’s kind of jargon so perhaps I switch methods
Made an appointment with old college to unenroll
🎧 - In Bloom, ZEROBASEONE
I didn’t feel very proud of myself today but I did more than usual. I got some shit done and that’s what matters. My covid is going away slowly but surely and I’m really really ready to start my new job. I haven’t done a bujo layout in forever too. I got to use some of my stickers from the Hoard of them too so that was nice.
See y’all tomorrow!

[Image Description 1: A teddybear has on a love is love shirt and some pants. someone is holding a pair of human sized glasses up to his face, and the glasses have a clip-on pair of orange lenses, which are heavy blue light blockers END ID 1
Image Description 2: A photograph of an open laptop with classwork on the open tab, and the teddy bear mentioned above sitting next to the laptop. he does not have on glasses this time, just the love is love shirt and pants END ID 2]
I am having a Day™
Being disabled and a student is not for the weak. Had to miss my classes today but I'm still trying to get work done. Had a fire drill in my dorm last night and it triggered a severe, much much worse than normal migraine (coming from someone with chronic migraines and a constant headache-). I could barely sleep last night, and I woke up slightly better this morning, but I knew I could not be walking around campus in this state.
Spending the day in bed sucks, but I've got good friends, the teddy bear shown above (his name is Cornbread, hes my emotional support bear lmao), and accommodations from my university that allow me to be able to rest and not hurt myself trying to push through. What I've been doing to cope with my chronic illnesses during this flare:
water. i've been drinking water, tea, and electrolytes! staying hydrated often helps alleviate side effects from some meds
meds. i take all of my meds like normal, but i also took my emergency abortive for migraines (which, unfortunately, did not seem to work), and i have medication for chronic pain that i take at regular intervals during a flare.
symptom tracking. this one can be a bit tricky, but i use apps to keep track of if it is getting worse or better and if im experiencing specific other symptoms (nausea, dizziness, etc).
FL-41 blue light blocking glasses! these are a lifesaver, i can use my computer with them on, which really can help me not fall behind. on days where its severe but not so severe that im missing classes, they can also help in lecture halls and other spaces with big florescent lighting.
noise cancelling headphones and earplugs. earplugs are my at home help, but when i have to leave my dorm, i put noise cancelling headphones on top of my earplugs. i cant wear my headphones right now however, as the pressure on my head makes me feel worse.
ice packs <3 i have multiple icepacks that i rotate through usage with. it can help the severity of my migraine temporarily.
anyways! i do other things as well, but honestly writing that took a lot of energy, and i am going to take a short nap.

POSS 101: Intro to Poss' Studyblr

he/him, 23, northeastern us
class of 2023 graduate (psych BA + gender studies minor)
currently applying for school psychology masters programs
working in mental healthcare + education
gay trans man
auDHD + mentally ill
hEDS + part-time cane user
infj, 5w4, virgo (s) scorpio (m) cancer (r)
night owl + cat dad + lowkey hermit
what to expect: life updates related to my grad school journey, advice based on how i make things work for myself or things i learn the hard way, notes on whatever subjects i’m studying at the time, resources i’ve collected, and maybe pictures of what my studying looks like (although it’s not particularly aesthetically pleasing). i might also post about independent studying, language learning, books i’m reading, etc from time to time. i’ll probably start by doing some challenges to get into the habit of posting.
why i'm here: to share my journey of applying for (and eventually going to) grad school as someone whose experience with going to school been less than fantastic in the past thanks to undiagnosed disabilities and transition struggles. i want to show what it's like to get back into the academic world after burning out and spending a year running the hell away from it, to commit to doing something you still don’t really think you’re good enough for. i’m sure it won't be pretty but it will be real, and i hope you'll come along for the ride with me and maybe feel less alone.
languages: just english right now, but i plan on learning italian (my family’s language) and ASL
academic interests: how diagnostic criteria and tests are made and used, early identification of "atypical" presentations of autism and ADHD, developing alternatives to ABA "therapy" for autistic youth, developing harm reduction and community care-based alternatives to inpatient psychiatric institutions for people in crisis, lgbtq+ mental health (especially trans mental health)
special interest: d&d/critical role/baldur's gate 3
other interests: queer/trans lit and media, (trans) manhood and masculinities, disability studies, monster studies, linguistics, mycology, religions and mythology, death care, trans HRT science, character creation, worldbuilding, conlanging, ttrpgs and board games, dice collecting, singing, crocheting, zine making
