When I was writing the Fortnight music video, I wanted to show you the worlds I saw in my head that served as the backdrop for making this music.  Pretty much everything in it is a metaphor or a reference to one corner of the album or another. For me, this video turned out to be the perfect visual representation of this record and the stories I tell in it. Post Malone blew me away on set as our tortured tragic hero and I’m so grateful to him for everything he put into this collaboration. I’m still laughing from getting to work with the coolest guys on earth, Ethan Hawke and Josh Charles (tortured poets, meet your colleagues from down the hall, the dead poets). I still can’t believe I get to work with the unfathomably brilliant Rodrigo Prieto on cinematography and my team of dream collaborators: Ethan Tobman (production design), Chancler Haynes (editor), Anthony Dimino (1st AD), Jil Hardin (producer) and Dom Thomas (executive producer). Parliament aced the VFX as always. Joseph Cassell, Lorrie Turk and Jemma Muradian made these tortured looks come to life. The entire crew made this a dream to shoot. I love this scene because

Anne and Gil both are aware of their own feelings

And they both think that they “told” eachother their feelings, but they weren’t reciprocated

They are so dumb. I love them

People who know about Sidney and Charlotte's feelings who could have done something:

1. Mary Parker. Obviously she should be saying ERM NO SIDNEY DON'T DO THAT, TOM IT'S TIME TO OWN YOUR MANY MANY MISTAKES. Maybe sell that necklace and some of those chandeliers too.

2. Georgiana Lambe. Charlotte's supposed bff with £100k, nicely over the requisite £80k for the Parker debt. Should probably AT LEAST HAVE BEEN ASKED if she might save her bff from utter devastation and departure. Even if she is a brat to Sidney MAY BE ABLE to empathise enough to dish out a few pennies to SAVE AT LEAST TWO HEARTS.

3. Lord Babs. Obviously a rich dude, now married to a soon-to-be rich woman whose aunt has an extremely vested interest in the success of Sanditon. Good pals with Sidney, observes how hugely in love he is. Again, PROBABLY SHOULD HAVE BEEN ASKED IF HE MIGHT HELP A BROTHER OUT.

4. Mr Crowe. An underrated personal fave of a character. Probably lost most of his money on booze already but may yet have some change jingling on his person. WORTH ASKING, OR PERHAPS SOMEONE SHOULD PLAY HIM AT POKER BECAUSE HE'D CLEARLY LOSE A LOT OF MONEY THAT WAY.

5. Lady Susan, and by association, the Prince Regent. I.e. the actual acting monarch of the actual country. A woman who has previously gone out of her way to fan the Sidney/Charlotte flames in a weirdly involved way. Presumably loaded and obviously a staunch advocate of The Power Of Love. INSTEAD OF WRITING TO ALLISON CHARLOTTE WHY DIDN'T YOU WRITE TO SUSAN?

I want to apologise to

- Britney for making fun of her when she had her breakdown

- Monica Lewinski for judging her when she was a 22year old temp sexually assaulted by the most powerful man in the world

- Ke$ha for ever thinking she was trashy when all she wanted to do was make party music

- Kristen Stewart for ever thinking she was dumb when she’s actually one of the coolest people ever

- Megan Fox for ever thinking she was just a slut when actually she was an actress being harassed by her employer. 

- Hating all the women who made a career out of having a hot body. Being is shape is hard, beauty is a weapon and auto promotion is hard work. 

- All the Mary-Sues, who exist because young girls everywhere want to be part of a story they love so much

- All the female characters I ever snobbed because they got in the way of my ship.

- Hating the color pink during my teenage years, when it’s actually a lovely color and what I resented was society’s pressure to perform femininity.
