Seeing the other feels like looking into a mirror: a reflection of what they could’ve become, a shadow of what they once were. And with it, the bitter comfort of thinking, at least I don’t look as bad as he does.

Their personalities fit together so well too. They both drown in the same paranoia, but it manifests differently—two sides of the same rusty coin. A feeling so heavy, so all-consuming, it leaves no room for air.

And yet, somehow, the only solace they find is in each other. Because there is nothing else. Because they “hate” each other so openly, it becomes a kind of honesty. A brutal transparency. They don’t need to pretend, there’s nothing to hide. No expectations to meet, because there were never any to begin with.

And that's so deeply comforting, it's scary.
