so i never really took the whole “two arrows fired” thing in the cupid bar scene in 8x23 to be a hint at destiel. it’s a nice sentiment and i wouldn’t consider it an invalid interpretation, but to me that seemed to be stretching it a little.

that is until i re-watched the episode, specifically the scene where cas asks for dean’s help (which happens only a few minutes earlier), and saw two very peculiar things clearly visible in the impala’s trunk.

"the shepherd's boy" by murray gold plays in heaven sent during the climax of the episode, in the scene where the doctor wears away at the wall over billions of years. he dies over and over and over again, literally burning himself to make a new one in the vague hope of escaping this prison on his own terms.

the same song also plays during twelve's regeneration, which takes place at the end of an episode where the doctor is unsure he even wants to regenerate, if he wants to go through all this again -- or, in other words, "burning an old me to create a new one."

the doctor is a phoenix, bursting into flames and rising from the ashes in an endless and exhausting cycle.

the pure fucking symbolism of using the same song for when the doctor is repeatedly dying in a time loop of his own making and for when he chooses to die and be reborn again is just. stunning. AND it's one of the most incredible instrumental songs ever composed. the doctor who soundtrack is genuinely everything to me.

I was watching ClassicWho the other day and like why didn’t they carry out The Watcher to NuWho?? They’re such a interesting concept and it just seems like They’re forgotten. Like, a mysterious version of yourself from the future to make sure your fourth regeneration regenerates into the fifth one ? When did The Doctor become this dressed all-white powdery person?? It’s literally never talked about.

I have a theory that The Watcher was actually always there, just hidden in the background of scenes, In a crowd of people, in the mountains, behind a door, who knows; But just a idea.
