it‘s 1:32am and still warm out. lightning strikes as my mind wanders to you. my window is open, it smells like summer and rain. thunder erupts and i miss your laugh. a warm breeze caresses my cheek as i reach for yours in my imagination.

his name dances on my tongue even when i am not talking.

i feel my body leaning towards his. it’s like he’s the earth and i’m the moon. he grounds me and i shine for him. i hope he knows the moon can’t exist without the earth. and i hope he knows the moon is essential for life on earth. we can’t exist without each other.

i lean my head on his shoulder and close my eyes. for an earth, he sure is nearly as warm as the sun.
