Current Scammers - 10/18/24

This is the current list of scammers pretending to be Palestinians from Gaza asking for money (USD) through PayPal rather than via an official fundraising site like GoFundMe. Many of these accounts have non Palestinian names attached to the PayPal accounts while using real Palestinian names on tumblr stolen from real people. The accounts that claim to be vetted are in fact, NOT vetted by any well known group or organization. All of these scammers follow a similar but slightly 'altered' script, and multiple scam accounts are usually run by one person. They will reblog a handful of posts after they join, then not reblog anything or give updates on their situation (like a normal user would) at all. Also, if you look at their pinned posts, most have comments/replies turned off, and or have comments deleted/removed. I wonder why? :) Here is a comprehensive guide on how to spot these scams.

Thank you to @kyra45 for providing the list. I just wanted to provide the explanation(s) so people are aware of what exactly these people are trying to do and/or how they are 'scamming' others.

Note: Most evidence linked will be call out posts that can usually be found by searching an accounts username on tumblr. If you are suspicious of an ask you receive, I suggest you search their username to see if they've been reported by other users! If you have the time. please take a moment to report these accounts as well as the PayPal connected to them. Thank you!

Since the first day of the war, we have been suffering from this crazy war. We left our home without anything significant, except for the clothes we wear. We moved a lot until we reached the place we live now in Deir Al balah, in the south of the Gaza Strip, with my large family, which consists of 100 people, more than two-thirds of whom are children. Our house was bombed and completely destroyed. Today we live the struggle of life with unbearable fear and cold. I hope that my family and I can travel outside the Gaza Strip until this massacre ends.

I ask you to help my family in the Gaza Strip so that they can secure their daily needs after they leave our home in northern Gaza to southern Gaza. I have a big family, consisting of my father, mother, five brothers and six sisters, all of whom are married and have children. They’re 62 people🇵🇸🇵🇸.

I got my first salary in my new part-time job today and after paying my debts I had a small amount left so I donated £5 to @mohamedmoner1994 and Rewaa's gofundme. Please consider matching my donation.

I haven't been able to boost and push Mohamed's and @yousefmoner's fundraiser because I've been sick for a few days and took a break from tumblr. I'll try to send out messages again to look for people who can match even just my £5 donation.

I haven't been posting about him a lot because I tried to focus on Mohamed and Yousef's fundraisers first, but they also badly need donations. Their fundraiser is very new and is still only at £1,461 / £25,000 with the last donation being 3 days ago:

The last update I read from Layla was that their sister Sahar and mother Nadia went and joined Mohamed and Rewaa in Deir al-Balah, along with Karam's wife, Maram and their son, leaving behind Yousef, Karam, and father Munir in Azdaa, where there were intensified clashes and shelling that reached their encampment. Yousef, Karam, and their dad had to flee from their tent several times and sleep on the streets. When they got back to their tent, most of their belongings had been stolen.

Please help match my donation to any one of these fundraisers. If you can donate to all three, please do so. I can only afford to give £5 because of the high exchange rate here in my country, but if you have the ability to give more, your donation would go a long way to help these people and their family.
