Was anyone else’s response to the end of Deltarune chapter 4 “haha, oh sans, you silly guy” and then when Kris looked away, you were like “oh… haha… that- hm…” and then when Toriel literally fell over from laughter you went “oh… oh no, oh my sweet baby you came home to this???? Honey…”

Because that was roughly my thought process

KRISELLE

Okay, so I’ve seen a lot of hate, but also a lot of love for Kriselle, so I’d like to throw my own opinion into the ring, because I have nowhere else to voice my opinions.

I actually really like Kriselle! But not because of the weird route, but more so in the normal route of Deltarune. Obviously I don’t think they’re gonna get together, not unless Toby goes down the poly route (because I am also a Suselle truther and I will not allow a world where they don’t get together.)

But it’s so obvious that Noelle cares about Kris, and it’s so obvious that Kris cares about Noelle. It’s, like, peak tragic yuri. Childhood friends, driven apart by Dess’ disappearance, learning to love each other again… (gods, I’m such a sap)

But I also like it in the Weird route for an entirely different reason? But also kinda the same reason?

Because Kris so obviously cares about Noelle, so much, but they can’t save her, because the player is using THEIR body to torment her! It’s still tragic yuri, but with an added layer of complications and darkness, and I just really wanna see these little beans be happy Q-Q

Anyways, at the end of the day, I really like Kriselle, and while I’m not expecting to change anyone’s minds about their ship preferences, I just wanna be able to let other people know that they aren’t weird or gross for liking a ship with a lot of complications.

((and no, it’s not more heteronormative to ship them, you weirdos! Kris is not a boy, they are non-binary, get that through your heads!))

THE PROPHECY

Okay, so, I’ve seen a lot of people saying that the prophecy seen in chapter 4 could be referring to the Snowgrave route, and I really like that idea!

But I’ve also seen a lot of people saying that Gaster is the reason we’re able to go down the main route, effectively sidestepping the prophecy.

So how would he react to people intentionally disregarding his hard work to create a happier, more wholesome ending? He’s a scientist, so would he be intrigued as to why people would actively decide to ignore this happier possibility?

I doubt Gaster is fully aware that he’s in a game, mostly because making the entire game a video game in-universe doesn’t feel like something Toby would do, but surely Gaster has noticed that we have some form of foresight (the most likely option from his point of view)

From Gaster’s perspective, he’s gotten some entity to help the story progress. The red soul (us) is the only thing that seems capable of closing dark fountains, so clearly he has us here for a reason.

Maybe he created this alternate route, where we don’t traumatize Noelle, or force Kris to hurt their friends, or freeze every enemy in our path so that we wouldn’t be scared away.

Maybe he thought that this entity he’s summoned wouldn’t want to hurt people, wouldn’t want to make people suffer for the “greater good,” and made this alternate route (the main route)

So how would he react to this entity just… deciding not to do that, deciding to hurt people. From Gaster’s perspective, we’re not looking for secrets, we’re just being cruel, despite having given us a better option.

Maybe he’ll feel a kind of guilt? Maybe he’ll think that we’re doing this out of anger, and spite, after he assumably told us that our choices don’t matter.

Or maybe he will simply not care, maybe he will see all of this as just another experiment.

I’d like for gaster to be upset at our actions, I’d like for gaster to have a sans-like role in this world.

Maybe he’s just waiting, gathering as much data as he can from this. After all, from his perspective, the world dies without us. Maybe he hates what we’re doing just as much as Kris, but knows he cannot act until we beat the game, seal the fountains, banish the dark.

I hope he will choose to stop us, once he can. Maybe he won’t be like Sans, as much as he will be like Chara, removing your ability to interact with the world as soon as he’s able.

If anybody has any Dess Holiday headcanons, I would love to see them, and possibly use them in my fanfics. Anything from “she just really likes tacos” to “she’s secretly being manipulated by an elder god” any level of headcanon is nice :3

Because I noticed that if you check the fridge at Noelle’s house, it mentions that there’s a jar of pickles. Is this because of Asgore? Because if not, I’m adding it to my Trans femme Noelle headcanon

CAROL HOLIDAY

okay, okay, so I’m about to go on a rant about Carol, and why I don’t think she’s the Knight (Major spoilers ahead btw)

So, I’ve been seeing a couple people hating on Carol for what she’s been doing, and a lot of people have been speculating she’s the Knight (even I did for a little bit). So I’m going to toss out my own ideas and theories.

First, in defense of Carol Holiday.

Evidence 1, the guitar. Carol Holiday flips when she comes home and finds Susie with the guitar. I feel like she was upset by a stranger being in the house at all, but a stranger in the house, holding her missing daughter’s guitar? She has the right to be upset.

We’ve seen pretty clearly throughout the game that Carol doesn’t process grief through sadness, she processes it by burying herself in her work, and putting pressure on others. It makes sense that she would be angry to find that someone she doesn’t know is messing with Dess’ guitar.

I can see her thought process clearly ‘What if she broke it? What if she stole it?’ That guitar is one of the only pieces of Dess that she has left, and what if she lost that?

Evidence 2, the pressure on Noelle.

It’s implied that Carol was always tough on Noelle, and likely Dess as well, considering all the broken instruments in her room. I feel like with Dess missing and Rudy in the hospital, it’s putting Carol through a lot of grief and stress, which leads her to increase her pressure on Noelle.

If you thought that your daughter went missing because she was a troublemaker, who didn’t listen to her parents, who probably didn’t get the best grades, who didn’t seem to have a set future, wouldn’t you do everything in your power to make sure your other daughter wouldn’t do the same?

I think she’s so hard on Noelle, especially now, because she doesn’t want Noelle to vanish like Dess did. She doesn’t want Noelle to disappear too, because how many more people does Carol have to loose? Her husband is dying, her daughter is missing, and from her brief glimpse of the Living room, with Susie playing the guitar, she may think that Noelle is going down the same path that Dess did.

Okay, now that I’ve ranted about her (possible) motivations, I’d like to explain why I don’t think she’s the Knight. Obviously the Knight has antlers, and it makes the world around it colder, as seen by the snow falling in the green room, the ‘cold place’. But I don’t think Carol is the Knight.

Evidence 1, the red herrings.

Okay, so the Knight wields a dope sword, and Carol also has a katana set up in the living room, but, how difficult would it be to carry a katana around hometown without people talking about it? We also notice how Carol seems to come home early, conveniently after Kris calls the mysterious someone on their phone (who is likely Carol), but she still shows up in the Weird Route, when Kris never gets a chance to call her.

Also, going back to the cold, and the antlers of the Knight, this is an element all of the Holiday family members seem to share, as seen in Tenna’s flashback. We can’t use these as good evidence pieces when we still have another Holiday, with a lot of questions on her. Dess. (I don’t think Dess is entirely the Knight either, but I’ll go over my theories about Dess in another post.)

Evidence 2, the handedness.

The Knight definitely seems to be left handed, as it wields its sword with its left hand. Carol, however, appears to be right handed, as we see her holding the guitar with her right hand, and placing her right hand on Kris’ shoulder.

Not to mention, if the Knight is supposed to be wielding Carol’s katana, why would it be wielding it in its left hand either way? I don’t usually like using real-world logic for theories, but I figured I’d point out that Japanese swordsman were always trained to wield their Katana’s with their right hands.

You would assume that Carol would know this, have trained with her right hand, and thus would wield her sword with her right. Overall, even if Carol is left handed, it feels unlikely she’d wield a sword with her left hand.

Evidence 3, the timeline.

My final piece of evidence is that the Timeline for her being the Knight just doesn’t work out. We see her kicking everyone out, and proceeding to rant to Noelle. Kris and Susie, meanwhile, go down to check out the church. Unless she got done with her talk with Noelle, jumped out the window, sprinted through the woods, and barely opened the church dark fountains, there’s no way she could have opened those fountains!

The only other opportunity would be before she went to the Holiday house, but at that time, people likely would have still been in the church. Overall, the timeline for her to have been able to create the church dark worlds just doesn’t work out. Also, wouldn’t someone have noticed her sneaking into the school, or the library? Is she just walked in, wouldn’t have someone commented on it? Carol is a secluded woman, who doesn’t even meet with people in her office often. It just doesn’t make sense.

Like I’ve said before, I have some more to say about the Knight, specifically who it IS instead of who it isn’t, but I’ll likely handle all of that in another post.

My theory was that it had some connection to the “Hometown Cryptid” stuff. I can’t remember for the life of me where that comes from, but the things coming from the pipes kinda look like they have Ice-E’s silhouette, and I’ve seen some people theorizing that Ice-E is the cryptid? I dunno, this is probably a stupid theory, but that’s my best explanation for the pipes thing.

WEIRD ROUTE

I really hope that Gaster isn’t gonna see the weird route and go “hmm… this would make for an interesting experiment…”

I hope he’s gonna be a (somewhat) ethical scientist, and is gonna see the weird route and go “hmm… how you’ve ruined my story. My plot lines. My DELTARUNE.” And then proceed to be an actually unwinnable boss fight.
