Hii! I’ve just seen a prompt that goes: “You don’t talk much.” — “I just really like listening to you, that’s all.” and it made me think of Todd Anderson ✨🥰 soo, if you could do something fluffy based on that prompt, it would be great
Enough For The Both of Us
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pairing: Todd Anderson x FemReader
Warnings: fluff, blabbing, minor sadness, mentions of being shy, lack of friends
Summary: When getting partnered up for class, you’re desperate to make this mystery guy your friend. Yet maybe things work out a little better than that.
word count: 1k
Masterlist
Tumblr media
College was supposed to be fun. At least that’s what you thought. It had been two weeks and you had yet to make friends. Even your roommate had left you behind, finding a group she didn’t bother to include you in. It had become hopeless, that was until your English professor announced an assignment. An assignment that required you to partner up and work on for a full two weeks. A golden opportunity of guaranteed time to make a friend. Yet with just your luck the name placed beside your own on the list is not a female name. Instead you eye the suspicious lettering of a boy named Todd.
Yet you don’t falter, you take it with stride. Boys and girls could be friends right? At least not in your experience but you had also never tried. It didn’t help you went to an all girls school before this. Boys were new territory, something meant to explore once you made friends in college. You’d just have to do things out of order now, which you remind yourself of that as you start your trek to the school library. The very place you had agreed to meet this so called Todd.
He’s not hard to find, a blonde boy with shy eyes who raises a sheepish hand to flag you down. You shuffle towards him immediately, dropping your school books as you sit in the seat beside him instead of across from him. The action makes him blush while you pull out the assignment from class. “Hi Todd, it’s nice to meet you. I’m excited for us to start working on this project together”
“Y-yeah. Me too” the boy stutters, eyes never quite meeting your own as he turns to face his own work on the table.
“I was thinking we could be friends Todd. I need a friend around here and the person forced to work on a project with me is better than any” you tell him, filling in the conversation where he lacks. You figure with his shy nature he won't put up much of a fight. Perfect.
"Okay" he sounds uneasy but you don't give him much time to think about it as you finally organize all the papers in front of you.
"Not to say I'm not cool or anything. I'm really cool, I just haven't found the right crowd around here yet. If I'm being honest I was kind of upset I wasn't partnered with another girl. Not that a boy is bad but it would be nice to have a girlfriend first to talk to about all the boy stuff. Like you're cute, but I couldn’t tell you that" you ramble, not even a semblance of vulnerabilty as you speak. That's why Todd stares at you with such awe, shocked at how easy it is for you to communicate and not regret it after. He had been better, no longer the meek boy he once was, fading like a dying flame but he also was no where near the level of confidence you were.
"You just did" Todd points out, the tips of his ears burning red as he tries not to dwell on how pretty you are. He had thought it had to be some curse that the beautiful girl he couldn't stop staring at in class somehow got partnered up with him.
"I guess you're right, well either way I'm sure you have some guy friends and get what I mean. It's not like we can share every detail of our lives with each other, it's unnatural. We're so different" and as much as Todd wants to disagree, having only been surrounded by boys his whole life he would have to understand.
"Different how?" Todd inquires, other than the obvious gender difference he wants to hear what this gorgeous girl had already deemed of him in only five minutes of her blabbing and him sitting here and silently listening. If he had the confidence of Charlie or Neil he would’ve asked you on a date already, stopped this silly friend train because there was no way he could possibly be friends with someone who looked like you.
"Well you know, boy, girl. I'm outgoing and you're, well you're just sitting here" you say with a serious look that has a laugh escaping Todds lips and betraying him. The minute the sound reaches your ears his face is as red as a tomato, but she only finds the boy impossibly cuter. Curse you for all this rambling about being friends when you really should've been flirting this whole time.
"Okay" Todd agrees after a moment, nodding his head along and trying to look away before you could see just how red his whole body was from this simple conversation with you. To think you hadn't even started working on a project yet.
"You don’t talk much" you state, looking at him with suspicous eyes and trying to understand the entirety of him. What a mystery this boy was.
“I just really like listening to you, that’s all” he finally says with a slight confidence you hadn't thought him capable. The shock of his words makes your nerves buzz inside you. You knew you could talk to much but to have someone speak so fondly of it was different. Mainly you were picked on for never holding your tongue and instead a boy had complimented you on it. A cute boy at that.
"So I haven't annoyed you yet, scared you away?" You ask curiously, hoping he won't say he was just messing with you. It was possible he could still up and leave, request another partner, and you had humiliated yourself.
"The opposite actually. It's nice being around someone who talks enough for the both of us" the sentence reminds him of Neil, a sad smile painting his features as you let the words wash over you. The most he had said directly to you since you had sat in this seat.
"Than this partnership might just work Todd" you grin and he blushes again, liking you hadn't used the word friend. Especially now that he wanted to be much more than your friend.
"Agreed"

Co-Eds pt. 1//todd anderson
Tumblr media
Information: this does not directly follow the movie, Dead Poets Society’s plot. It takes place the following school year after the film ends.
Warnings: mention of masturbation right off the bat lol oops
They did it. Apparently, they took Charlie’s suggestion to heart, after punishing him initially. Welton Academy decided it was time to allow girls to attend. The boys, especially the Poets, were ecstatic. “Now we won’t have to jerk off as much!” One of them had said, making Todd blush, but ultimately shake his head with a chuckle.
It was still warm when the first day back to school came, but the leaves were starting to change and were plucked from the trees with the fall promising breeze. Summer was officially over. Senior year was beginning.
Neil put his arm around his best friend and roommate, Todd, “Now we get to put our poetry skills to good use.” he nodded to the flock of females on the campus lawn, “Look at all of them!”
Todd, never really knowing what to say in these conversations, smiled softly, joining Neil in the girl gazing.
Being in an all-boys school could feel pretty isolating from the outside world, namely from the opposite sex. Todd had read all about women in fictional books and heard all about romance and passion in Mr. Keating’s class last year. He found all of it wondrously fascinating. But to put it into reality was unimaginable for someone like him. He hadn’t even gained the confidence to read aloud during Dead Poet meetings with his close friends, let alone even speak to a girl.
The rest of the guys caught up to Neil and Todd, each of them oohing and awing at the girls waiting to go inside. The exception was Knox, who only had eyes for his girlfriend, Chris.
“Good morning, ladies.” Neil greeted a group of them as they walked by.
Charlie chimed in as well, asking some of the girls if they were excited to start at Welton.
“I’d never have the courage to do something like that.” Todd thought to himself.
As the bell rang, he happened to look over and notice three girls looking at him specifically, one of them even waved. He smiled right at them for a second, waving politely before he looked away. As he headed in with the herd, he knew he was red in the face.
Todd found his assigned locker, and there was already a girl to the left of it putting things into hers. He made eye contact, and she smiled kindly at him.
He then opened his locker, placing his book bag inside, grabbing a notebook and other things he needed for his first class. He couldn’t stop thinking about how pretty she was. He could smell her too, her scent was of roses and light hints of vanilla.
“Hi, I’m y/n. Is this your first year at Welton too?” a feminine voice chirped next to him.
Todd looked at the girl, brows raised as if to ask, ‘Who, me?’ “Oh, uh-mm, no I was here last year.”
“Oh, that’s cool. I’m new…obviously.” she giggled.
Todd couldn’t help but smile at her. It had only been a little over a year since he’d been back at his old school that was a co-education, but a year at an all-boys school, especially one as elite and serious as Welton, felt like a lifetime.
“So, are you a senior?” she asked him.
“Yeah, I am.” Todd tried his best to keep his trembling at bay.
“Me too! So maybe we’ll have some classes together…”
The long pause and the questioning look on her face was all kind of silly to him before he finally realized that she wanted to know his name. What was it again? “Todd.” he cleared his throat awkwardly. “Todd Anderson.”
The girl smiled at him again, “Well, Todd, it’s nice meeting you.” she closed her locker, “Um, can I ask you...which is the history classroom? They showed us during orientation, but I can't remember."
His eyes widened, he couldn’t believe she was still talking to him. She was so lovely, like the type of girl that poetry was made for. “Oh, it’s-a just passed the lockers, second door on the left.”
She smiled appreciatively at him, “Great, thanks. I’ll see you around, Todd.” she sang, turning to catch up with another girl that had called her name. She turned her head slightly to look back at Todd and give him a friendly wave.
“See you.” he said, but she was already too far away to hear him.
Suddenly, he felt a slam of an arm across his shoulders. Charlie.
“There’s no way that Todd Anderson was talking to a girl.”
“He definitely was.” chimed in an enthusiastic Neil Perry, a proud smile splayed over his mouth.
“No, I wasn’t. Not really.” answered Todd, brushing the interaction off.
“No, no, we saw that little wave she gave you. She’d totally sleep with you, Anderson.” Charlie said as the group walked to class together. The bell rang again, “Aw, second bell. Better get to class before we’re all marked late.” he said sarcastically. “We will talk about this later.” he rubbed the top of Todd’s dark blonde head teasingly.
Todd shrugged off his friend’s typical antics with a laugh.
…….
U.S. History class. Typically, this would be a snooze fest for the poets, but this year, of course, was different. Instead of dozing off or doodling during the lecture, the boys could try to gain the attention of the young ladies in the class.
Charlie Dalton had the best time, passing notes to girls and giving them nods. Neil caught the eyes of a few girls. Steven Meeks mostly just smiled at them awkwardly.
Todd kept to himself as he usually did. He’d hate to say something and end up sounding stupid. Nothing he said ever came out right.
“Now, you’ll have a research paper due at the end of the quarter. But I’ve decided to add a twist. Since it is our first year with females attending, I will let them pick their partners. And yes, you’ll be working on your paper in pairs.”
Murmurs and soft chatter filled the classroom.
“Yes, gentlemen there's a chance you will be paired up with one of the ladies but remember that there’s work to be done. Conduct yourselves with respect and discipline. We don't want to scare these young ladies out of the school when they've only just arrived, do we?"
Some mild laughter sprouted through the class.
"Now, I’ll just begin alphabetically. Go on and pick your partner when your name is called, ladies. Let’s see…” the teacher picked up his clipboard with the class list, “Ah, y/n y/l/n. You may make your choice.”
Todd perked up when he heard her name, he knew where she was sitting as he had spotted her at the beginning of the of class. His eyes found her in an instant.
Y/n took a second to scan the room, but she already knew who she wanted her partner to be. “Todd Anderson.”
He nearly swallowed his tongue.

Todd Anderson
todd x reader
*in this universe Welton is co-ed*
Summary: Todd needs a math tutor and the reader is a perfect candidate
Help: Please let me know, do people enjoy the use of Y/N? I tried not to use it because I hear people say its cringe to see in fanfics. I personally don't mind it at all but let me know what you think!! While you are here, does anyone know what the room where the students were chilling and studying (the one Pitts and Meeks were making the radio in) is called? I called it a study lounge but if you know what that type of room was let me know! p.s. please read the author's note at the end!
After your final class for the day, you decided to head to the Student Study Lounge. You had a math assignment you wanted to quickly wrap up and the Study Lounge was one of your favorite places to work. You admired the ambiance that the quiet chattering provided, the noise helped you focus.
Today when you entered the room you were shocked that the room was particularly silent. You noticed that one of the usual groups (the poets, I don't want to list everyone out) that frequented this area was missing. You were a little disappointed, partly because they provided most of your study noise but mostly because you were secretly looking forward to seeing one member of the group. Todd Anderson.
It's so silly to be disappointed about his absence when you've never even really had any interaction with him before. In fact, you've had conversations with each of his friends individually at some point in time, but never him. He always mystified you though. The way he was still so timid and quiet despite being around his good friends. The way he was always so kind whenever he did interact with others outside of his group. The way he had the most adorable concentration face. He was always a beautiful sight to lay your eyes on whenever you became frustrated with a problem and needed to look away from the paper.
Regardless, you couldn't sulk over the absence for too long, you had work to do. You began setting up at a table towards the back of the room facing the wall to ensure you wouldn't get distracted.
The doors of the study hall opened and the poets began filing in. You were fully immersed in your assignment and you didn't even notice. Meeks spotted you and eagerly notified the group of your presence, "She's here! I told you guys she'd be here!"
"Perfect!" Charlie exclaimed as he clapped his hands on Todd's shoulder. "Alright Todd, just head over there and talk to her."
Todd shrugged Charlie's hands off and annoyingly looked at the floor, "Guys I didn't agree to this."
He shifted his eyes to Neil suspecting that he was the cause of the group's sudden efforts to get Todd to speak to you. A few days ago he had asked Neil if he knew anything about you. Neil informed him that Meeks would probably be the one who knew you the best since you two had shared a math class together the semester prior. When he noticed Todd's disappointed look (disappointed because he hoped Neil would be able to give him information and he wouldn't have to ask anyone else) Neil began to interrogate Todd on sudden interest. After Neil's endless questions, Todd confessed he had a small crush on you. He begged Neil not to say anything to which Neil replied "No promises" and promptly ran out of their shared room.
Now here they were, Todd was completely aware that all of the guys now knew of his crush as they were attempting to encourage him to speak to you for days now. "Forget it guys I'm not doing this." Todd said shaking his head and beginning to make his way out the door.
"Don't you want to pass Calculus?" Neil quickly shot this question at Todd before he could leave. Todd stopped abruptly, looking very confused.
"Why would I not pass?" Todd shot back.
"You need a tutor," Neil said with a sly smile on his face.
"Meeks tutors me in Calc, he's been doing it since the start of the semester. You know that." Todd responded slowly, slightly squinting his eyes and both Meeks and Neil.
Meeks leaned over to Todd, quickly patting him on the back and with a large grin declared, "Not anymore!"
Todd's eyes went wide as he realized what was happening. "What?! Meeks you can't do that!"
"Sure I can," Meeks said taking a seat on a sofa nearby.
"Wait this isn't fair, you guys know I'm not good at math. Im no good with numbers what am I supposed to do now." Todd spoke frantically looking to the group with pleading eyes.
"It's simple Todd, you find another tutor," Neil said with an upbeat tone. He and the other poets began taking their seats in the sofa area with Meeks.
"How am I supposed to find someone as good at Calc as Meeks who will be willing to tutor me." Todd exasperatedly spoke both to the group and to himself.
The group exchanged looks as the waited for Todd to catch on. When he finally followed the line of sight of the poets he realized their eyes were fixed on you, sitting there at the back of the room. He looked at them with disbelief. "No, absolutely not" Todd shook his head.
Quickly Charlie stood up and exclaimed, "You know what I'm getting bored of this! Todd you either go talk to her right now or I'll get her to come to you."
"What are you talking about?" Todd looked at him with a raised eyebrow. Charlie began to lift his hands to his face, cupping his hands around his mouth. Todd realized that Charlie was about to shout your name for the whole study lounge to hear, and he knew Charlie wasn't bluffing. He quickly pulled Charlie's hands down and in a hushed voice begged him not to do it. Charlie smirked at him and gave a nod towards your direction. Todd's heart was racing at this point as he attempted to relax his breathing. He hesitantly nodded his head and began slowly walking to you. When he was about halfway there he nervously looked back at the group, weighing his options between committing to this or booking it out the door and dealing with the consequences later. But when he looked at the group he received a hushed but united "Carpe Diem!' from the poets. That motivated him to continue walking. His confidence was not long-lived as when he approached you he began feeling anxious again.
It was now or never. Todd lightly tapped your shoulder. You were so focused not only did you not hear any of the commotion of the boys coming into the room but the tap on your shoulder made you jump slightly as you turned around. When you looked up to see who was standing beside you, you realized it was Todd and your heart raced. "Oh, hi" you smiled at him.
"um.. hi. Sorry to disrupt you" Todd apologized shyly.
"oh no its completely fine don't worry" your smile grew at how adorable he was. There was a small beat as Todd eyes flicked from you to the boys then back to you.
“Do.. do you mind if I sit for a second?” Todd asked hoping that taking a seat would calm his nerves. You quickly nodded and cleared some desk space. Todd sat down slowly and tried to discreetly relax his breathing. He avoided eye contact, deciding that the wall looked more interesting. You, however, kept your eyes fixed on him. This was the first time you two were interacting but you were confused about the motive for his visit. As if he suddenly realized how strange this situation was looking in your eyes he discerned that he needed to try to break the silence. “Sorry, I’m..”
“Todd.” You cut him off.
Todd held a shocked expression, “You know my name?”
You let out a quiet laugh and mentally kicked yourself for looking so weird, “yea, I see you in here a lot. I talk to some of your buddies every now and then and your name had been mentioned before.”
“And you remembered it?” He stared at you in awe.
“Yes Todd, I remembered.” You gave him a genuine smile.
Told looked away suddenly feeling heat rise to his cheeks. You debated whether you should say anything or just go back to work alongside Todd. Todd softly cleared his throat and turned to speak to you looking as if he were bracing himself. “So, my friend Meeks, he would tutor me in Calculus,” you nodded listening politely and he carefully constructed his words. “He is no longer able to continue tutoring me and he spoke highly of you and recommended I ask for your help.”
You slightly turned your head to glance at Meeks. Why couldn’t Meeks tutor anymore? He was good at math too. Nonetheless, this would be a good opportunity to get to know Todd.
Todd began to worry about your hesitation and started rapidly dismissing his prior request feeling foolish. He placed his hands on the edge of the desk to gain some leverage to push his seat back. He was about to stand as he began to ramble, “You know actually it’s alright, don’t worry about it. I should probably be paying attention in class more anyways so I’ll just do that and I can ask my professor for assistance-“
You reached your hand out and placed it on top of his causing him to freeze immediately. You caught his eyes and smiled “Todd, I’ll do it.”
Authors note: hi friends! I’d like to let it be known that I am not a writer! In fact, I am actually a math major! That being said, in a lot of the fanfics I read the authors are so amazing at dropping beautiful poetry and referencing fine literature, I will not be doing that. I am more knowledgeable about numbers so in my works math is more than likely to be referenced than English. I hope that’s okay and I’ll try to not overwhelm anyone with a lot of math talk.

Introducing Me
Hello!
I have been obsessed with Dead Poets Society since I watched the movie in my sociology class! I constantly rediscover and reignite the flame with this movie every few months. I love all the characters, my favorite is Todd. Really I search and search for the ones I feel are looked over (Meeks, Knox, Pitts).
I feel like I have read all the fanfics available for my fav characters. So, I decided to take a shot at it, for other people to enjoy and hopefully to inspire others to write for my favs!
I will mention however, I am not a writer!! I’m more of a numbers person (it makes more sense to me than writing). But I have many ideas and an active imagination, hope people find this and enjoy the work to come!
