I almost didn’t get around to finshing this - I’m only a few hours late. I wanted to do something semi-spooky for his birthday while showing him being happy (because he deserves it).

I read if you go chasing rabbits by @mishcollin the other day - which is anabsolutely delightful witchy read - and couldn’t get witch familiar Lan Wangji as a white raven out of my head…so yeah. My hand might have slipped.

The other night as I was falling asleep I suddenly remembered a song in my native language…and then I was like “holy shit this is Lan Wangji.” This is a song based on psalms from the Scroll of the Songs of Songs of the Old Testament. (Translation from Hebrew is mine). Please note: This song is sang by a man, and yes, the “him”/“he” are not a mistake. Here are my thoughts about it, sorry for the rant: “In my bed, for weeks, I asked for what my soul longed for, but I didn’t find him.” - Seclusion post punishment post wwx death lwj anyone? “I searched all of the streets of this city of lies, but I didn’t find him.” - lwj searching for wwx’s spirit in various places, knowing that everything that he was taught to know as truth is also lies. “The guards patrolling the city found me, but my beloved, I couldn’t find him.” - can be elders from Gusu telling him to stop and return to Cloud Recesses. “But I shall not cease until I bring him into my hometown, into my mother’s house, into my room, into my bed.” - is any explanation needed?! Holy shit my face at this sentence. “I want to bring someone to CR and shelter him.” / “Wei Ying, come back to Gusu with me” Then he actually brought him, to Gusu, to his mother’s house, to the Jingshi, and to his bed. Next 2 verses are after their wedding, and yes, Wei Ying is his wife cause they call themselves that way in the novel. “Who is it rising from the desert, from a faraway land, Carried on the wings of a great bird, Arrived to my home?” - basically the happy ending. Finally wwx returned from the dead but also from being emotionally far away from lwj. And now he’s in lwj’s home. Thank you for reading!
