ALSO? anon you’ve supposedly been a friend of Adina’s for a decade even though our poor little Dean’s been complaining this whole time about how they just needed sooooooooooo bad to lie about their race bcuz they had not a single friend or person in real life who could support them. you just really cannot stop making shit up, huh?

turning off anon because if Adina really wants to talk to me, they can show everyone their new blog as well.

also idk maybe you should’ve thought about the impact of this getting out on your mental health BEFORE you chose to lie about your race for over five years? just a thought tho
hey Adina, you know you have a really distinctive way of writing messages, right? you know that i’ve known most of the anons i’ve gotten over the past several months have been you, right?

what was up with robert shaw and ireland?
robert shaw loved ireland! he lived in tourmakeady for the last few years of his life.
so, here’s the thing. i had to look something up for this post and was faced with the knowledge that my robert shaw lore was wrong, which is… more confusing to me now?
robert shaw was born in england, moved to the orkneys in scotland when he was 7, and then, i thought, moved to ireland when he was 12. this is false. he moved back to england when he was 12! i have no idea where his love of ireland originated!
but the JOKES about him being really into ireland come mostly from his movie roles. he uses an irish accent… way too frequently. in the sting (1973), he played doyle lonnegan, a mob boss. he was meant to be english or irish, so you would assume that english robert shaw would just use his natural accent, right? but no! he used a northern irish accent for lonnegan. with ned lynch in swashbuckler (1976), his character not only uses an irish accent (… i think. im very bad with accents!) but is EXPLICITLY mentioned to be irish! several times! he has these two lines, “im not a gentleman, im an irishman!” and also “im not a fool, im an irishman!” which are… so funny. i do use the “im not a ___, im an irishman!” speech formula with friends sometimes, it’s great 😭
of course there’s also quint, who has an accent of unidentifiable origin, lmao. from what i gather, the guy who played ben gardener was hired for shaw as an accent coach on the local accent, but obviously since he wasn’t a real accent coach, he couldn’t help that much. so quints accent is a sort of strange fusion of shaw’s native english accent, his preferred irish accent, and just a bit of a cape cod accent for garnish. i think he used the same or a very similar mix for the deep (1977), he sounds pretty quint-ish to me.
but yeah robert shaw just really loved ireland and he brought it up a lot! i think there’s an old jaws interview where he starts talking about his home in ireland unprompted because the people of martha’s vineyard reminded him of the irish back home? lmao.

Quooper this, Brooper that, Quody if you squint hard enough. Please. I'm going for the ultimate rare pairs by shipping Brody with Hendricks and Harry Meadows, perhaps at the same time.
