“I know she’s a villain, but it bothers me when people say that Demona is responsible for every bad thing that’s happened to her, when most of it is was only because she just kept on trusting the wrong people. It just feels like victim blaming.”

My Favorite Disney Heroines (in no particular order)
↳ Elisa Maza from Disney’s Gargoyles (1994-97)
Elisa is a detective with the NYPD. She is one of the first humans to encounter the gargoyles and helps them find a new home when they have to abandon their castle atop Xanathos’ skyscraper.
Strong, athletic, and clever, she becomes the gargoyles’ closest friend and even falls in love with their leader, Goliath. Together they fight to protect the city from crime. She has to endure many hardships, such as having her brother being mutated into a winged pantherine humanoid by Xanathos, or temporarily being transformed into a gargoyle herself. At one point, Broadway accidentally shoots Elisa with her own gun while playing with it, almost killing her.
Elisa is of mixed heritage, African American on her mother’s side, and Native American on her father’s side. Originally devised as a Hispanic woman, Elisa’s ethnicity was adapted when Salli Richardson was cast as her voice actor.
