yeah he should have let her die -
Wanda was never going to be killed by the Avengers or X-Men. Pietro just didn't stick around for the rest of the conversation, which was them shutting that kind of talk down. He was definitely overreacting to the whole situation, considering that he jumped straight to altering reality as the solution.

Feeling guilty for something isn’t the same as taking accountability. Everything that Pietro did in the wake of M-Day didn’t alleviate anything, and he was the one that initially exploited his sister’s condition. Wanda really has taken the brunt of the blame for the event, when she didn’t even have complete agency over herself. Pietro’s really dodged most of the actual responsibility for his actions, regardless of whether or not he’s suffered in the aftermath of the terrible things he initiated.
Oh you mean the brother who supports and loves Wanda? the brother who stands by her even with everyone turned their back on her ? that brother? that saves her live., he’s not this controlling asshole who would tell his sister that she deserves to have people be afraid of her. Even as shit as HoM was, all he wanted was for her to be able to live her life and not be killed by their supposed friends.
I'm not really sure where you got the impression that I thought Pietro was controlling? I don't think that what Pietro did was malicious, and I completely understand why he thought that it was the best way to help Wanda, but that doesn't make him right, and that doesn't mean he doesn't deserve to publicly take some of the blame for what happened.
It's like, I really enjoyed the scene in All-New X-Factor where Pietro admitted that there was no skrull and he was wholly responsible for stealing the terrigen mists, but his growth shouldn't just end there. There's a few bad things that Pietro's done, but hasn't actually had to faced consequences for, and I think it would be ultimately better for him as a character if he addressed it and grew from that as a person.

"You dare?" he challenged that intolerably intrusive mutant with a grin, taking several quick, defensive steps back nonetheless. "Move so much as an INCH towards me and I will make you sit down and twist off your own feet. You really cannot tell me what to do."

“come on. I don’t bite. unless you ask me to.”
Tumblr media
“Oh! I love it! That’s the spirit! But hold the thought.” Maximus replied magnanimously, spinning back and forth in his swivel chair as he considered the device in his hands that he was working on. It needed several tools he did not have access to at present, but he could at least re-affix the power supply through the alternators.
“I’d love to help you,” he began again, lifting a finger aloft. “But what makes you worthy of the attention of Maximus the Maker?” He rattled the device he was holding and it sounded loudly of loose screws.

thecorteztwins‌:
From an objective perspective, Maximus had a point indeed about mutant hubris. Fabian and Exodus had never considered that Maximus might not want to wipe out his own kind. Maybe they thought he hated his family, that it was that simple, or maybe they had just thought him too mad to know what he was truly doing. Either way, they had been proven wrong by the Inhuman prince. Or rather, Exodus had been proven wrong, Fabian had just been an innocent casuality of that! That was Fabian’s perspective, which was very much not objective. “Believe me I’d really rather love it if it ended up being the hubris of certain mutants that destroyed them,” he said, and he had some specific ones in mind.  Ones that wore distinctive helmets and had troublesome sons, for instance, “But wasn’t it your people who ended up being the ones to have the downfall? And at your own Queen’s hand, too! Now that’s a tragedy.” That was what came of making one’s genetic superpowers dependent on an outside trigger. Poor planning, really. But Fabian wasn’t here to rub salt in those wounds for the sake of it. He had no grudge against the Inhumans themselves—that’d been Exodus’s problem—and had never been the sort for species loyalty, as evident by his exploitation of his own. No, Fabian just wanted to find a way to profit off it. “I don’t mean to imply I’m any sort of substitute for your sacred Terrigen…but recall how my hypercharges work on Inhumans? We should see what happens when I do it on a latent one. One of the ones who hasn’t had the gas yet. It might turn out I can trigger their dormant powers, if only temporarily.”
Best case scenario, he became the Inhumans sole hope of continuation. Worst case, nothing happened. Okay, worst case in went HORRIBLY WRONG for the poor person he charged, but that wasn’t HIS problem.
“Experimenting on Inhumans now? My, you only compound your crimes against the throne,” Maximus observed with delight, and cocked his head and rubbed his jaw. It was nonetheless a delightfully tempting line of thinking. Fabian Cortez was faithfully treacherous, and Maximus rather was in need of somebody to fill the newest gap in his life of calculated catastrophe. The human mutant had formerly proven his usefulness, that was true.
It was exactly the kind of scheme that would likely force Maximus’ usefulness to his family once again. It was a bit of a desperate times situation. No matter how ugly the cost, the survival of their people mattered above all. And that cost was what made it ART.
He finally clapped his hands together and exaggeratedly made a cutting motion with the edge of his palm on each of Cortez’s shoulders. “Pardoned! Judgement reprieved. Forgiven by the royal-ness of yours truly. Let’s fire up some babies!”

poltergeistreported‌:
The ‘oh shit’ became clearer on her face as he continued talking, mouth forming a small ‘o’. Nodding sharply she smiles nervously “ahahah right sure uhmm first of all, I’m a mutant so your princelyness doesn’t mean anything to me. So quit the darling stuff, all you had to do was say you were an Inhuman.”
Politics of royal families though? That was a dramafest she didn’t want to be part of. Eyeing the scanner she debates her options, it could be anything from a weapon to a glorified can opener. Escape would be far too easy, but reuniting bodies was part of her job. He did have that political flair and that outfit and that hair. Combined it looked more like he’d waltzed off a photoshoot. Shit you could practically smell the wealth from him. Bet his shoes were brand new too.
Leaving the counter she locks the door “ so Mr. Boltagon,” it sounds like a rubiks cube. “They aren’t up here if that’s what you think. I’m not just going to waltz you to the bodies.Do you have any names or characteristics?”
"Your mutated humanity ought not bear on an unequivocal respect of title," he pointed out a bit peevishly, but he was immediately mollified by her apparent acceptance of his qualifications, and he brightly smiled.
"Yes, a woman of the royal guard named Lumin,” Maximus explained, gesturing expansively with pleased excitement. He keyed his scanner to project a small, optically-illusional rendering of woman’s face with lightly pink-scaled skin and a head full of bright orange feathers. “Probably very recently perished of a knife wound. You don’t do autopsies, do you? She was something of a glorified solar battery; she may still be slightly explosive.”

poltergeistreported‌:
Swallowing a quick mouthful of tea she barely gets it down before shes choking on it. When had he gotten in here!? She was only in the back for a few minutes and nary a peep.
” An Atilianian? Do you have proof of identity of the individual you’re looking for or are you just looking for a body.” She shoots back, eyeing him warily “the city has a morgue for bodies you know. If you’re a reporter I suggest going there.” Upsold? What the hell she didn’t sell bodies. Of course she did have a morgue of bodies two stories beneath them but she couldn’t just take anyone down there.
Tumblr media
“Perhaps you don’t understand,” Maximus replied with exaggerated, patient politeness, splaying his fingers delicately on the countertop and leaning in conspiratorially. She had warily tried covering her backstory, but the compulsive demand for proof of identity confirmed enough.
“I am Lord Maximus Boltagon, of House Agon, prince of the Inhumans of the Great Refuge: Attilan. It has come to the royal attention that you possess some of our former residents, and that’s quite the tricky pickle, no? Our people do have a rather difficult relationship with human legal processes. So complicated.”
He reached into a pocket and withdrew a small, scifi-esque scanner. “Be a darling and help a prince out, will you?” He gestured past her.

Fabian: "Alright, I know how to get us out of this---I'll seduce Medusa." Maximus: "You?! Don't make me laugh, Cortez! You haven't a prayer in any pantheon!" Fabian: "Pfff, just because YOU never got anywhere with her!" Maximus: "My point! If I could not, what makes you think you are capable of this feat?!" Fabian: "Maybe she likes REAL men." Maximus: "Maybe she likes REAL IDIOTS!! *pause* oh Agon's beard, maybe that was it all along, SHE LIKES IDIOTS!"

( @poltergeistreported )
Maximus had arrived perfectly aware of his company, and dressed in a decent approximation of human casual, wearing a clean v-neck and creased dress trousers. He helped himself to a book and flipped through it carelessly as he waited, quietly flicking through crisp pages punctuated every so often by the creaking leather of his gloves. He sensed the arrival of another individual before he saw them, and he grinned and slapped the book down on the shop counter. “That’ll be one dead Attilanian,” he announced cheerfully. “And inventory willing, I don’t mind being upsold.”

Maximus curled his lip in disgust, then turned it into a broad grin and boldly clapped the other man on the back, nearly wishing he had the cliché knife to be patting into that broad expanse. “Please! It’s called a poetry. You know how it is: the hubris of mutantkind.” He had discovered the Device a long while afterwards; the Alpha Primitives had cleaned it out of the sacred chambers, and the technology went on to be an interesting component of a sub-zone ray gun. It was a rather filthy thought-- really, quite scandalous-- that Cortez thought that Maximus would destroy the mists for anything. There was surely a significant measure between chaotic entertainment and the willful genocide of one’s own people. Never let it be said that Maximus never did anything for Attilan.
@maximustherad “And you never went back for it? Even though that could have solved everything?” Fabian said at the end of the tale—Maximus’s version, anyway—of the recent events between their respective species. He was gaping, but then his expression changed. “You know what—good. They all deserve it for letting me die.” This statement didn’t make much sense—the X-Men hadn’t even been there when Magneto had killed him, just Rogue and Polaris—but Fabian had a history of throwing blame around illogically.

a court of mist and fury sentence starters
“i fell in love with you, smartass, because you were one of us.”
“when you spend so long trapped in the darkness, you find the darkness begins to stare back.”
“there are good days and hard days for me—even now. don’t let the hard days win.”
“if you were going to die, i was going to die with you.”
“you’re a real bastard, you know that?”
“there are different kinds of darkness. there is the darkness that frightens, the darkness that soothes, the darkness that is restful. there is the darkness of lovers, and the darkness of assassins. it becomes what the bearer wishes it to be, needs it to be. it is not wholly bad or good.”
“i’m thinking… i’m thinking i was a lonely, helpless person, and i might have fallen in love with the first thing to show me a hint of kindness and safety.”
“i am broken, and healing, but every piece of my heart belongs to you.”
“i would have torn apart the world to get you back.”
“i’m thinking that i look at you and feel like i’m dying. like i can’t breathe. i’m thinking that i want you so badly i can’t concentrate half the time i’m around you, and this room is too small for me to properly bed you.”
“i hope they all burn in hell.”
“the issue isn’t whether they loved you, it’s how much. too much. love can be a poison.”
“many atrocities have been done in the name of the greater good.”
“did you enjoy the sight of me kneeling before you?”
“you gave up on me. you were my friend.”
“life is better when you’re around. and look how lovely your handwriting is.”
“i know you—more than you realize, i think—and i don’t believe for one damn minute that you’re remotely fine with being a pretty trophy for someone who sat on their ass for nearly fifty years, then sat on their ass while you were shredded apart—”
“come on. we don’t bite. unless you ask us to.”
“but i couldn’t… i couldn’t stop being around you, and loving you, and wanting you. i still can’t stay away.”
“i’d much rather you licked my wounds for me.”
“you decide your fate—your choices. not me.”
“i’m surprised there aren’t more mirrors in this house, since you seem to love looking at yourself so much.”
“i heard you begging for someone, anyone, to get you out. i heard you say no.”
“i will kill anyone who harms you. i will kill them, and take a damn long time doing it. go ahead. hate me—despise me for it.”
