thinking about how smart amanda is…she’s only with john for about two years but she learns all this complex engineering knowledge from him, she memorises all the medical knowledge she needs to know, even in the little bits we see of her world (her room at gideon’s, the books she’s surrounded by in some iii flashbacks) shows she’s well read and educated. she’s witty and clever and a quick learner and it’s just. she’s so smart but she’s never been able to show it off before until she becomes an apprentice and even then, that’s in the worst way possible. and god. the tragedy of amanda young never ends. and she truly could have accomplished so much if life hadn’t been so cruel to her.
