He realizes he cares about her and can't handle it, so he defaults to antagonizing her. He immediately denies any accusation that they were bonding from Pomni, stating he was using her but that's just not true.

They *were* bonding. He was answering some of her questions, even just fucking with Zooble was real bonding. But immediately after, when she calls him partner and he looks at Kaufmo and Ribbit's doors, you can see first hurt disguised as anger, then realization.

He made a new friend. He's actively making a new friend. Not like Ragatha who he thinks is fake, someone genuine. And it scares him. So he becomes a bigger asshole than before, even saying he wouldn't care if she Abstracted. He knows it's bullshit, she knows it's bullshit, it's why she fights him, but in the end that's just how he thinks he has to be to survive. But it's not perfect.

This is guilt. He likes her, he pushed her away, and he's guilty about it. We see his leg bouncing, which for a rabbit means afraid or threatened, and given his panic attack that fits.
