Yo, to everyone out there I’d like to say everything will be okay. This is not the start of WW3. So don’t go believing all the media hype over this. Is this very fucked? Yes, but now is not the time to panic, that’s what our “President” wants us to do. Stay safe out there everyone, much love.

i feel so uplifted and hopeful for the future when i interact with my own community - we show up at community events, our mayor helped lead our no kings protest, our pastor goes with the church to demonstrate outside ice detention centers, we are active in politics (town halls are full and there were various campaign signs on every lawn during the primaries), we achieve tangible results for initiatives the people care about (e.g. rent control, sustainability grants), and there are either town-sponsored or community-run free events literally every weekend in the summer to bring us out together.

i get to interact with people of all ages and all cultures. i by no means agree with everyone, but there is still this overall understanding that we are collectively trying to be kind to each other and steer ourselves to a better future. im incredibly lucky to live where i do, but i also know my community is not the only one like this.

i think this is why i get so frustrated by the actions of our federal government under this administration that thrives off of divisiveness and seeks to scrap funding to our communities while somehow having money for foreign wars, ego parades, and deploying the military on our own citizens. like i see so much progress in front of my eyes while reading how more progress is being torn down every day on the news. im optimistic we will overcome and outlive this regime, but the thought of how long it will take to bring us back to normalcy is disheartening. all of humanity has had conflict, but the amount of uncertainty that we all anxiously watch for updates in real time makes it feel like something is about to burst, for better or for worse.
