In the calm of Chippewa Harbor at Isle Royale National Park in Michigan, the waters of Lake Superior look more like a bathtub than the largest lake in the country. Photographer Patrick Rodden captured glorious orange and purple skies over Isle Royale National Park in Michigan. He explains, “It’s a park with so many opportunities from hiking to boating and excellent wildlife viewing. Not only did I enjoy the terrestrial views, but I also had an incredible time watching the sky. This photo was taken from Rock Harbor on my last night on the island. Summary 2024 Isle Royale trip

Total miles – 3,296

The Northwoods, the evergreen smells, the wildflowers, the water, THE Lake, rocky shorelines, the bogs, the discoveries – Isle Royale is a special place. And even though the modern world has creeped onto the island – now one location for cell phone users, it is still a place of serenity and peace. I am glad I took the trip again. Along with the north Shore drive in Minnesota along the shores of Lake Superior what a wonderful experience. I believe the family enjoyed their visit, and I also visiting the various places along the way visiting again and for the first time. America is a special place of diversity and hope. God blesses us all the time.

Left motel on a dry, cool morning. Stopped for gas and ate breakfast. On the turnpike stopped at the Tamarack Center. Had postcards 5 for $1.00. Brought a few. Saw some nice gifts but decided to buy similar at home stores. Drove home, got gas, unloaded the van. The weeds in the garden were not as bad as could be. It had been very dry weather. Began weeding in the late afternoon. The trip was over. A very Northwoods experience, but it was good to be home again. The neighborhood kid showed up in the evening to be paid for looking after the house and mail.
