Progress Update #7
Hello everyone! Hope everyone is doing well! I just finished posting my final post! However, I had to cut off some prompts because the deadline was closely approaching, and also, it just felt very excessive. I had to cut off the last category of posts that I initially planned - abstract adjectives. It felt repetitive from the abstract concepts category that I already posted, and the prompts were very simple and vague: cute, masculine, and sadness. So, I made the decision to not do those prompts. My last post was the prompt "The Aloha Spirit" and I felt that it was a fitting prompt to end my capstone journey! Also, I feel very satisfied with how the visual design of my Instagram tuned out!

I feel so grateful for everyone who participated in the polls that I posted! To ensure that I reached as much people as possible, I not only posted the polls on my capstone Instagram, but I also made sure to tag the UHWO ACM Instagram so that they could share it with their followers as well! I also shared the polls on my personal social media accounts. It was fun to see everyone's responses and see how people have both different and similar preferences when it comes to color.
I will be posting my concluding posts on my Instagram shortly, so stay tuned for that! Instagram photos and videos

Progress Update #6
Hello everyone! My project so far has been going smoothly. I just need to continue posting consistently. I have already posted 7 of my word prompts. I have about 8 posts left to go, and I can't wait to share them with you all. This update isn't a huge one because I am repeating the same process over and over again. However, I will say that the errors that I have experienced (as mentioned in my previous update) have definitely been less frequent as I was able to finish some prompts. I did experience a bug in ChatGPT -- some of the AI models did not form a visual color palette and would spew out code, but this was not a major problem as I just copied and pasted the hex codes provided.
I will also share with you guys how I prepare my posts for Instagram! I use Canva because it more convenient and accessible to design my posts. I also use Adobe Illustrator change all color palettes into one template for cohesiveness. For the title page of each word prompt, I like to incorporate different styles of fonts that fit with the word prompt to make it more fun. Also, on the mobile app, I also like to add background music to my posts to add emotion!

Progress Update #5
At this point of my project, everything is going according to plan. However, there were some changes that I made along the way as I progressed through my project. First, some of the prompts were changed. "The Countryside" was swapped out for "Amazon Rainforest" to best fit the geographical category. "The Countryside" was then changed to "The Wild West" and replaced "Ancient Egypt" since it was very close to "Arabian Nights" already. "Power" was also replaced by "Wisdom" as "Power" seemed very close to "War."
Also, I have encountered some obstacles. Sometimes the AI model would not work at times, no matter how much I tried again. This problem occurred mostly in the ChatGPT models and ColorMagic. I did anything I could, even logging in and out. Sometimes the issue would be resolved in a matter of minutes, but other times, I had to wait a few hours or even days for it to be working properly. This issue has caused some major delays in some of my posts as I was not able to move forward until the AI model generates a color palette.
Nevertheless, everything is going well, and I am pretty much done with generating all my prompts. I am enjoying the process and having fun with my project! The only thing I have to do is create more polls and write out each color analysis and comparisons for the upcoming prompts, which I will continue to do in the next two weeks. Posting-wise, I am about halfway there. I just have to be consistent in my posting scheduling so that I don't finish too late. I feel that I still have a substantial amount of time to achieve this!

Progress Update #4
In my previous post, I broke down my process on how I will create the color palettes. In addition to that, I will also do a written analysis on the color palettes, comparing their differences and similarities, as well as looking for any patterns! However, I ran into an issue with the character limit. My written analysis exceeds the character limit, so to solve that problem, I put my comparison of the color palettes on the last slide of the Instagram post, the poll results and my process in the caption, and the AI's process in the comments section.
For the look of my Instagram feed, I want to be creative and make it look visually appealing. Between each category of prompts, I will alternate the color of the posts from black to white. When all prompts are completed, the feed will look visually appealing with alternating black and white rows. I also want to incorporate different fonts for the title slide as well as background music to add more depth and emotion to the prompt!

The results of my first word prompt are now posted! Check it out here! Instagram photos and videos My first post is an example of what each post will comprise of.
In the next two weeks, I will continue to do more word prompts and update my Instagram page regularly according to my workback plan.

Progress Update #3
The production phase of my capstone project is now underway. I emailed Sharla the design and template of what one Instagram post would look like and I was given approval! However, I had to make a couple of changes to my project. I initially was going to use four ChatGPT models and Canva Magic Media, but I felt that it was too excessive and would overwhelm my viewers with so many choices. So, I decided to use three ChatGPT models instead, as well as drop Canva Magic Media.
I would first like to mention that by doing this project, I am, by no means, claiming that I am a "color expert." Color perception is subjective, and this project is an exploration of the different color perceptions of people and technology. I will first create my color palette before generating in AI because I don't my color decisions to be influenced or swayed by the results that AI generates. I will use a variety of image search engines such as Google Images and Unsplash to seek inspiration and create a mood board.
After I create my color palette, I will generate color palettes from the seven AI models that I am using: ColorMagic, Color Palette Designer (ChatGPT), Color Palette & Design (ChatGPT), Color Palette Generator (ChatGPT), Adobe Firefly, & Midjourney. Adobe Firefly & Midjourney are particularly different from the rest of the AI model because they spew out images rather than a color palette, so I use Adobe Color to extract colors from the images and create a color palette.

After I create all 8 color palettes, I will gather them together and post them on my Instagram stories, asking two questions: Which color palette best represents the word prompt, and which color palette was human made. It is a blind poll, meaning that there are no labels indicating who or what model made the color palette.
In the next two weeks, I will start working on each word prompt and preparing posts to upload to my Instagram page.

Progress Update #2
Over the past two weeks, I put a lot of work on pre-production tasks such as setting up my Instagram account, signing up for AI accounts, and polishing my workback plan.
My Instagram page is now live! Check it out here: ๐๐ผ๐น๐ผ๐ฟ ๐ฃ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฐ๐ฒ๐ฝ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป: ๐๐๐บ๐ฎ๐ป ๐๐ ๐๐ ๐จ (@color_humanvsai). The visual language of my Instagram account will be mostly black because black is the absence of color and my project is about color palettes, and the contrast between the black and the color palettes would create a beautiful pop of color.
The AI models I will be using are ChatGPT, Adobe Firefly, Magic Media by Canva, Midjourney, and Color Magic. I was initially going to use Chat GPT via Microsoft Bring because it was free, but I realized that that model is very limited, so I decided to go with the Chat GPT model that is not from Bing. Some of these AI models require a payment so I had to save some money to invest in it. Also, Chat GPT has many different "GPT's" (customized versions of Chat GPT) that may yield different results, so I chose 4, as pictured below.
Adobe Firefly and Magic Media by Canva produces images rather than an organized color palette in a rectangular format, so I will be meeting with Sharla to discuss the specifics of that, and whether or not I am able to use a color extractor to extract colors out of the photo and make it into the rectangular color palette format that I am familiar with.
In the next two weeks, I will be starting my 1st round of prompts to create color palettes of. However, one question that arose when I was thinking about posting my results to Instagram is whether or not I should state what color palette human, so that it is left a mystery for the viewers.

Progress Update #1
My project will explore the perception of color between a human (me) and an AI model, such as Chat GPT. My deliverable will be a social media page. In the past two weeks, I have created the Instagram page, but it is still a work in progress. As an aspiring graphic designer, it was important for me to make my Instagram page an aesthetically pleasing one, so I made assets and design templates for my posts. I will announce the Instagram page soon!
I also took the time to look at other AI models. Some of them may require payment for features that I need for my project, so I created a budget. Integrated into my web browser (Microsoft Edge) is an AI model called Copilot by Bing. I tested the model with an example prompt just to see what it would spew out and the results are a bit mixed and ambiguous. With this result, I may have to create more specific prompts for the AI model to better understand it.
In the next two weeks, I will be crafting the word prompts as well as putting my Instagram page together for public view. I will also be finalizing the list of AI models to use. Hopefully, I can start on my first word prompt and post my analysis to my Instagram page.
