Foodies first blog
Hey! I write to you as my first blogging experience and so wanted to start by sharing a little bit about myself (please bare with me as I'm new to this and a complete technophobe!) I'm a 25 year old female living in London, I'm the type that plans their day around food (are you even living if you don't?). I've been attempting to share my love of food using Instagram and came to the realisation after reaching 100 followers that I could potentially make this a 'thing'. I absolutely love food, eating it, cooking it, reading about it or looking at it, I'm IN. Weirdly this obsession is something I always found quite embarrassing, my peers would laugh and my family would always make jokes about how much I could 'put away'! I sometimes talk about my 'home home' and to clear things up, I do live in London but my parents/family home/my heart is in the south coast of Devon, so I try to visit as much as I can. I've got two older brothers who are avid cyclists and a boyfriend who's in the London fire brigade, my hero because he's into food just as much as I am except he's even more of a technophobe than me so he doesn't write to the world about it. He will probably appear in a few of my posts and we are actually in the process of creating a real life recipe book - watch this space! I guess my love of food came from all the experiences I have been lucky enough to be exposed to through my amazing family. My mum is trained in catering and I always took an interest in watching her in the kitchen slash trying to help except I'd make too much mess! Not only did we have great food at home, you know the age old 'my mums the best cook' argument but we also always went on lovely holidays as kids and I experienced lots of cultures and cuisines early on. I went to university and studied business studies and although I finished with a first class degree (god knows how with the amount of time I spent not reading!) when I hit the desk job environment two years in I just needed something new and exciting. Queue my career change into being Cabin Crew/ Flight Attendant/ Air-hostess whatever you want to call it for an internationally recognised airline. With this my food journey really started! I've so far visited nearly 40 countries and I spend 70% of my time away from home..... eating! Since March 2016 I've been documenting my 'food journey' VERY SHYLY through my Instagram profile @mcfoodjourney as the diversity of food I was being exposed to and how often I'd eat out (unfortunately for the waistline) felt too good to be true and so I wanted to keep track of it! Now I'm here, I want to make my blog informative for those visiting the cities and countries I have travelled to so they know what to expect. I want to make recommendations of places to eat and just generally share 'my food journey' with anyone who's willing to read. One day I'll be cooking in my kitchen in London and the next I'll be sampling street food in Malaysia so I'm hoping this will give anyone reading enough variety to actually think I'm worth following. My dream is to be a celebrity TV chef or a travel food journalist but for now I'm happy sharing my stories with you all. If anyone wants me to do a restaurant review in the meantime, hey I'd be a fool to say no! I'm signing out now but please visit my Instagram page and I'll be back here with more as soon as I can.
