❛ please stay . ❜
He can’t fault him.
They both know there’s no staying. His fate is a fixed point in time - set in stone the moment Monokuma drafted the second motive. He doesn’t know when he came up with it, exactly...has he really been a dead man since the beginning? Since he was chosen for this...game?
...But of course Kiyotaka is asking him to live. If their positions were reversed -
( And they would never be, Kiyotaka does not have it in him to do what Mondo did. No matter what was placed in front of him. No matter what Monokuma threatened and taunted him with. Kiyotaka was an objective, immovable good. )
...If their positions were reversed, in a twisted version of this timeline, and Monokuma managed to force his hand - he would ask the same. Demand the same. Up until the moment of inevitable death, he would not spend a second not fighting for him at any conceivable cost. In this moment, if it were Kiyotaka on the stand instead, he would dismantle every wave of spare Monokumas that they could throw at him. Destroy them faster than the mastermind could make them. And he would take his hand, pull him upstairs, and retch that fucking door open if it broke every bone he had.
...
But it’s not. Mondo is the murderer. Mondo is about to die. Rightfully.
And all he can do for him now is pretend he isn’t terrified.
“...You get out of here. Get all of them out, too. You can do it. If anyone can.”

antielevator:
The smile on Kiyotaka’s face is a welcome change from the droopy way he’d held himself so far, so Sebastian gives himself a mental pat on the back and slurps up the last of his oden. His head turns after in search of a wastebin, and with a raised hand he flicks his wrist to send it in an arc in the air before it lands inside it with a clunk.
Resisting the urge to pump his fist, he walks calmly to dispose of the chopsticks with the rest of the biodegradables instead.
“My student life?” Sebastian echoes once Kiyotaka says it, laughing sheepishly. “You mean around the papers and the internship and trying to learn hundreds of new kanji every week? I can’t remember what a good night’s sleep is like, but…”
He looks over his shoulder, smiling crookedly. “I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
“I love my hometown,” Sebastian says, returning to Kiyotaka’s side and leaning his back against the wall by the vending machine. “And I love the people in it. And when bad things happen” – his brows furrow at the thought of that, and the mysterious disappearances that’d been occurring just before he left home – “I want to help. I… kind of always have.”
Castellanos disposing of his empty can reminds him of his own food. Afraid to make the man wait for him because of his slow eating, he quickly finishes his own portion as Sebastian answers his question. Only pausing to offer a curt nod.
Kiyotaka’s own smile grows at the sight of Sebastian’s. His explanation has the boy beaming in adoration. Determination, hard work, selflessness... They’re all traits he admires greatly and strives towards himself.
When he finishes his food, he keeps the trash with him until he has finished speaking, quickly disposing of it before returning to their conversation. “ That is very admirable ... I can see why my father holds respect for you ! “ He exclaims in his usual brand of excitement. His father rarely speaks much of his colleagues, but Kiyotaka knows he struggles. It’s reassuring to know he has someone by his side with their heart in the right place.
" I want to become a politician . " He admits, his tone set in hopeful determination. " I love my country , I love its people ! But I know it can be better - for everyone . I know it wouldn't be easy but nothing worthwhile truly is ! "

@dxncingxqueen from here
Kiyotaka has his arms crossed and a stern look on his face as she turns to him. It’s only recently that he got permission to patrol the halls for an hour after the evening clock but he’d already caught several troublemakers blatantly breaking the rules. He’d never pegged Hayashi as one of said troublemakers before, but there can be no doubt surrounding such an obvious disregard of the rules like this.
“ Do you not eat enough at dinner , Hayashi - kun ? There’s so much food in the cafeteria ... If you had eaten enough , then you wouldn’t be in this situation right now . “ He replies sternly. “ There are vending machines in the school store but that’s not for now . It is past curfew ! I will escort you to your room and write you up for breaking the rules . “
Despite his unrelenting adherence to the rules, his expression does soften a little as he looks her over. She does look like she should be eating more. “ I’ll make you breakfast first thing in the morning , okay ? “

“oh my gosh!” she feigns shock, looking at him with hands going to her face.
“are you alright? you flew down! are you hurt at all?” junko approaches him and begins trying to analyze his face. “not bleeding, right?”
“do you need to go to the infirmary?”
He leans back instinctually at her approach, but quickly relaxes to his usual tenseness. Her concern, however fake he doesn’t realize it is, is appreciated. If somewhat odd. “ I , uhh - “ He responds in a daze. With the brief rush of adrenaline gone his face does hurt an unexpected amount.
When he brings a hand up to feel at it, he’s surprised to find his upper lip wet with blood. Does he have a nosebleed?
“ Maybe ? “ He replies, then glances at his watch again. “ But I’m already late ... “

Which Primal Source Are You?
THE SUN
You’re a fiery spirit with unwavering courage who never backs down from a challenge. Like the radiant sun itself, you are a guiding light to others, a natural leader who inspires strength and heroism. You never hold back your opinions and are a warrior for change, tirelessly fighting to change the world for the better. This can be a double-edged sword, because while your inner fire makes you brave and true, you can be quick to heat in an argument. The eternal struggle of the Sun primal is finding the balance between warmth, light, fire, and fury.

rosanimemuses:
•| Nagito let out a sigh as he politely listened to Kiyotaka’s speech. the principal of this school was a foolish old man who allowed himself to be tricked by the higher-ups. Nagito had little respect for the adults who ran this place or for fools who followed the rules. of course , Nagito usually kept that secret. This conversation threatened to reveal it.
he laughed through his nose and shook his head as he posed with a smile. “ Dedication? I suppose even I could understand such a thing. I am Dedicated to Fostering Hope in the Ultimate Talents of this school. ” he said. Nagito was not sure if Kiyotaka had a worthy talent. he might be like Nagito, stuck with a worthless talent that helps no one. “ True. The Reserve Course students are gifted but they have No Talent. ” he laughed again. “ And they never will, no matter how closely they follow the rules in place. Talented students shouldn’t have to follow worthless rules that keep their talents from flourishing. ”
“ The rules aren’t worthless . They are set in place to create a functional society . For that society to prosper , no one can be above them . If their talent can’t flourish in a lawful society then their talent isn’t one that should be celebrated ! “ Kiyotaka shakes his head as he argues. He can’t believe what he’s hearing. The idea of anyone being above the law just because of whatever naturally born abilities they might have makes him sick. This is exactly the type of corruption that he’s fighting so hard against.
“ The difference between talentless but hardworking citizens and corrupt geniuses may seem skewed towards the latter at first . But make no mistake ! Failure is part of what it means to grow ! Those with effort fail , get back up again , repeated until they bring meaningful change to the world . Talented people get far , but just like anyone they eventually fail . But they don’t get up again . They just die . “

more-than-a-princess:
She'd been halfway to the library’s business section when she stopped, chuckling. Despite the change in light and, technically, breaking a school rule, Kiyotaka reminded her quite a lot of the business section’s other, usually sole, occupant: Byakuya Togami. Who equally chastised the pursuit of frivolity, particularly during school hours. The difference was that, when she was lucky, she could catch him with a novel or two. Sonia doubted Kiyotaka would be quite as lenient, or if he’d had the chance to be exposed to the most incredible stories from places far away from home.
“Ishimaru-san,” She asked, turning to face him with a playful look. “Perhaps you might answer me this: when you feel weak, helpless, like the world is entirely against you and no matter how well you adhere to the rules you feel constantly beaten down by the expectations on your shoulders…how do you rid yourself of that feeling? How do you find your confidence again? A clear head and lightened heart?”
In a quick change of direction, Sonia side-stepped the path towards the business and finance section of the library with the finesse of a rehearsed dance. She knew plenty, after all: they were paramount to entertaining in her family. “For some, that’s video games. A respite away from the daily responsibilities of life so that when one returns to them, they feel encumbered by the cracks in their self-esteem. I rather imagine successfully completing a challenging level in a game can make one feel rather invincible, or so Nanami-san has told me. For others, like me on occasion, that’s television. Being lost in the stories of others, real or imaginary, played out on a screen. Long ago, people used to hold the same derision for the likes of Shakespeare and Marlowe, and yet they became some of the most famous European playwrights, studied over and over again in classrooms across the world. Perhaps one day television will have the same acclaim!”
She grinned as they approached the fiction section. He’d likely protest, but Sonia was expecting it. She’d planned to do the fun part last but as long as she fulfilled all of her reasons for breaking the rules that night, she couldn’t complain. “But mine often comes in the form of novels and manga, and luckily for me, this library has both! Wait there a moment, I think….yes, I think this might be enjoyable for you, if you haven’t read it.”
The shelves were fully stacked and very tall, necessitating the use of ladders to reach everything properly. A necessity that Sonia hardly minded as she scurried up the nearest one, all the way to the top of a shelf, with no apprehensions at all. Not of falling, not of being caught, not even being scolded by him. Plucking the rather thick tome from its place, she climbed back down hastily and held it out to him. “The Count of Monte Cristo. It’s a 19th Century novel from France about how justice and the law erroneously threw an innocent man in prison and there he, with the help of another also incorrectly incarcerated, plots his own form of justice. His own law. His own revenge. It’s a wonderful adventure tale that, eventually, examines what it means to show mercy and forgiveness.”
Smiling, she then began to scan titles for the ones she was interested in. Ones far less notorious. Ones with covers of dark castles and moonlight and twisted iron and vines. Some of them even had letters, stray roses, hearts, or two people poised to kiss on the front. “And since you asked, my paper is about the history of trade between Europe and Asia between the years 1500 and 1900, including the advances, the benefits, and detriments to both sides of the exchange. I needed a few more details towards specific events to build my points, and thus a trip here was needed. I do hope you understand.”
He listens intently to her explanation. It’s nothing he hasn’t heard before. Still no matter how many times he hears it, he doesn’t understand that mentality at all. There isn’t anything that brings him more stress than the idea that he might be wasting his time.
He hums to show he’s paid attention before he responds. “ I understand feeling overwhelmed , I wouldn’t presume to judge how others deal with their emotions - but there are way more productive ways to clear your head ! There is nothing better than a good work out . As is often said ; A healthy mind dwells in a healthy body ! Or taking care of your chores , that’s a great activity to get lost in while taking a break during an evening of studying . Much better than wasting your time on such meaningless endeavors ! “ As he finishes speaking, he realizes he’s lecturing again. It’s not how he’d meant his words to come across, but his way of speaking makes it hard to avoid.
He almost even apologizes for speaking out of line, but before he can she’s climbed up one of the ladders. Leaving him dazed by her sudden movement. It’s then that he takes in his surroundings too, noticing that they’re definitely not in the right section of the library.
Still surprised, he takes the book when it’s handed to him. Of course he’s read plenty of books in his time. Mostly biographies of people he’s admired, and he’s certain he could still recite the Edo period poetry his grandfather used to make him memorize. None of that has come even close to novels from 19th century Europe. Still, she has picked this out specifically for him. No one’s ever done something like that for him before. It’s not like he can just decline. “ I see . I’ll ... uhm ... be sure to study this when I have the time . “ He eventually tells her. She’s a kind person, if she’s handing this to him there must be reason why she thinks the story might be useful to him. She wouldn’t just purposefully waste his valuable time, would she?
He listens to her explanation of her assignment. “ In that case , we should move on to a more useful section of the library . I doubt you’ll find any reliable historical cases in these books . Nor should you exploit the teacher’s trust by wasting this time on personal endeavors ! “

junko sighs, arms crossed over her chest as she waits. what was she waiting for? literally anyone to come by.. oh! kiyotaka ishimaru? … hey, that’d be funny, actually.
as the other had gotten near to pass her, junko’s boot slides out- attempting to trip the man.
Kiyotaka is already running late for his meeting, which by his definition means not being at least 20 minutes early of course. Which is why he’s speed walking down the hallway while checking his watch every few seconds. He hadn’t even noticed Junko standing around until he trips over her feet and faceplants to the floor with an undignified yelp.
He groans as he lifts himself up. Though, when he does realize there’s another person there, he quickly jumps up instead. “ Enoshima - kun ! “ He exclaims. “ Are you okay ? I wasn’t watching where I was going - I am so sorry ! “

does your muse like it when people do work for them?, what acts of service would your muse appreciate the most? & what is something your muse loves being praised for?
headcanons based on the 5 love languages | accepting
Does your muse like it when people do work for them?
It depends on what, really. Kiyotaka definitely is a bit of a control freak over certain parts of his life. For example, I don't think he would like having someone clean his spaces for him, take over his official duties or do the chores he likes to do (like ironing his uniform...).
Even so, he'd still appreciate the gesture itself immensely and still properly thank the person even if it's work he'll redo himself immediately after.
What acts of service would your muse appreciate the most?
Cooking! It's something he does for the people he cares about as well. Especially something healthy or traditionally Japanese. As he says, an army marches on its stomach!
What is something your muse loves being praised for.
His hard work! Accomplishments are nice, but he’d be more satisfied to lose a challenge after giving it his all than to win one with no effort at all. He gives everything his all, and it’s nice to have that be acknowledged! Especially because rising above talent is so incredibly important to him.

“I…. I’m gonna be honest here, Kiyotaka - Oh, can I call you Kiyotaka? No nicknames I’ve come up for you so far sounded good enough. Anyway… You and I, I think we’ve gotten off on the wrong foot. You’re doing your job. I’m doing mine. Can’t we let bygones be bygones?”
“ I personally don’t mind Kiyotaka . Though maybe it is more appropriate to keep to my last name . For now . “
“ But I’m glad to see you take initiative like this , Gyeon - kun ! I see that you understand my position . Does this mean you are ready to take responsibility for your actions and follow the rules ? You’ve got what it takes to be a more productive member of society , it’s about time you act on it ! “

heartsealed:
She’s safe, he reassures her ━━ empty promises that nothing is going to happen to her. But how can he be so sure? She doesn’t want to be so distant, wary & DISTRUSTING of her classmates but with two dead already it’s natural to do so. She hates feeling like that; paranoid of whether or not she’ll live to see tomorrow, constant vigilance, paranoia …. why does it have to be this way? Why are they forced to do this to each other?
She feels so STUPID for coming to him for comfort. Why should someone else be burdened with her problems? He’s hurting too ━━ it was selfish of her to lean on him for emotional support. Fidgeting in place, dainty hands grips the hem of her skirt & she wonders if she should say anything or just leave, pretending this encounter never happened.
“Thank you, Ishimaru - kun.” She says finally, lifting her head to meet his eyes. Such warm eyes the color of rubies ━━ they’re piercing & burning hot with fiery passion and intensity. But there’s a certain warmth to this. A gentleness with genuine care and concern for his classmates. In a way, Chihiro is almost envious of him. On the surface he’s coping better than she is, such resilience and strength ━━ looking into the face of despair and choosing to rise above it instead of crumbling. If only she could be like that …
“Um … Ishimaru - kun. I’m going to be awake for a while. Um, would it be okay if we talked for a while?”
Kiyotaka had been surprised to see her at his door. Not surprised to see that she’s struggling of course, they all are. He just hadn’t assumed her to be the type to take initiative when needing help. He’s glad he was wrong, though. Even if he’s not good at emotions per se, or offering support that isn’t just practical. Unless it’s academically related, people don’t usually come to him for advice. Which is one of the reasons he’s eager to give it whenever he gets the chance. He’s glad Fujisaki feels comfortable enough to come to him for help like this. He just hopes his words have some worth to her.
Maybe that’s why he said that. Logically speaking, he knows he can’t actually guarantee that nothing bad is going to happen. But he wouldn’t have said it if he didn’t genuinely believe that they could be better than that.
And well, if nothing else, he really can’t imagine any one of them would be so cowardly as to go after the weakest and one of the kindest members of their group.
“ But of course ! You can stay as long as you like . “ He quickly replies to her request. He’d been preparing for bed when she rang the bell to his room, actually. Evident by his boots standing neatly besides his bed and his jacket being unbuttoned. He doesn’t mind sacrificing an hour or two of his sleep for the purpose of supporting a classmate though. It’s not like he has school duties he needs to be rested for anyway.
And really, he’d like to spend more time with one of his peers. Even in this horrible situation. He’s never really had someone he would call a friend before.
“ Actually - not exactly . A boy and a girl aren’t allowed to spend the night together in the same room but - well , you know what I mean . “ He chuckles awkwardly as he recounts the rule aloud. His bed dips softly as he sits down besides her. Enough to keep a respectable distance. He’s not sure if she’d rather keep talking about her feelings around the situation, or a completely different topic to keep her distracted. He chooses to just play it safe and ask.
“ Anything in particular you wanted to talk about ? “
