Someone asked what Eclipse's paws look like now in his hedgehog form. And I am here with a poorly made sketch of his hands and the bottom of his feet!

I forgot the red part by Eclipse's heel but yeah, he has scales on the bottom of his feet and his palms! So the feeling of walking and picking up stuff wouldn't feel as different.

This is an Eclipse focused one and the third part of my series~. :3 It happens after chapter 43 of "Finding the Reasons to Exist and before chapter 44, the road that the little alien takes to mellow out and become a better earthling.

Purely self indulgent to let me pause on the plot heavy stuff. And it's so much fun to write. XD Looking at it from an outside veiw, looking past Eclipse's thoughts, is such a riot and I adore it. I hope those who want to read will like it too!

Writing fanfic vibes playlist

Sooooo~. I have a playlist that I listen to when I want inspiration for what to write in the scenes to my fanfic. Songs that I relate the characters and situations to. So now that I'm going to be posting the epilogue and mark the story as complete, I thought I'd share that playlist to those who are interested! :3

Down under the cut I'm going to go through a breakdown of how I imagine these thoughts are tied to my fanfic and the characters. Purely what I drew inspiration from. Some songs 'fit' better than others and others are just a vibe. Since Finding the Reasons to Exist is a Shadow focused fic, most of these songs are also songs I relate to Shadow's mental state. XD

Major spoilers for the story and plot as a whole under cut! (38 songs is a lot)

Alkaline - This is Eclipse directed to Shadow, how Shadow should absolutely join the hive mind and why he needs it. Eclipse's delusion you could say.

All the King's horses - This is Shadow and his grief. -nod nod- (There are more of these)

Brother - Sonic and Shadow to each other and supporting each other. Also Knuckles protectiveness towards his little brothers.

Colours - Shadow and how he sees Maria and Sonic as blue and comparing the two of them. And how he can't exist without either of them.

Control - About how Black Doom is taking control of Shadow like a puppet, how scared he is over it, how he's so afraid about hurting those he care about.

Damocles - Shadow and how he struggles to find a place when Maria is gone.

Demons - Shadow and how he's so dependant on Sonic to see something good in himself. Also Stone and how he's dependant on Shadow.

Die first - Ignoring the romantic tones of the song, it's how both Shadow and Sonic are really scared to lose someone again. Also Stone towards Shadow too. (You see how I see Stone as obsessed in a way?)

Don't think just run - Sonic and how he's a hero of earth but not knowing what he's doing to help the invasion situation.

Doubt - I vibed more with the lyrics on this one. Shadow begging Sonic to continue to see good in him even when Shadow can only see his bad parts.

Embers - Shadow finding strength in Sonic and the two of them going super. :3

Eternity - Shadow feeling grief over losing Maria and wishing that he could be with her. And wishing she could see who he's becoming with help from the Wachowski family.

Face to Face - I listened to this one on repeat when I wrote the face off between Shadow and Black Doom, then again when Sonic and Shadow fought black Doom together. Shadow would rather die than back down! Yeah!!

Free - Sonic reaching out to Shadow about sharing burdens and Shadow being scared but admitting he wanna share it.

Gasoline - Eclipse and desperately reaching out to connect with Shadow. Then his lack of self within the hive mind, a mindset that he never wanted to face but is forced to see as the invasion goes on.

Ghost of you - Shadow reminicing about Maria. I vibed with this as I wrote Shadow looking at the picture of her.

Golden - Sonic and Shadow going super and finishing the war~. (Also Shadow and Eclipse vibes in a way to me)

Golden weather - Shadow and how he can't sleep without nightmares. How he's ready to die in the war because he has nothing to live for in his mind.

Guardian - Shadow towards Sonic and Knuckles towards his brothers. They are protectors!!

Gunshot lullabies - Shadow and him hating himself. Again. How he's lost everything he cares for and doesn't want to be alive any more.

If I killed someone for you - Eclipse and his desperation for Shadow to see him and love him. How he's willing to try and change himself completely just for a small chance.

I'll be good - Another Eclipse one, how he'll do better as a person so Shadow will see him and love him.

The last of the real ones - Shadow to Sonic, how Sonic is a hero but Shadow needs him more than anyone else might.

Lost - Shadow being lost in the memories of his past with no direction to go.

Lovely - This is for all the characters that have no place. Stone, Shadow and Eclipse. They are all haunted by their "ghosts" and struggling to find a new path to take. Then how the three of them find a home in each other. <3

The moon will sing - Shadow to Sonic and Maria. But also Eclipse to Shadow and Black Doom. How they're looking towards the light they've found to guide their way, how they're a reflection of the light rather than be one themselves.

Mr Author - This is Sonic to me, the author, personally. Knuckles too. ... I suppose Shadow too. Yeah this is the characters telling me off personally when I'm scheming something. XD

Open Wounds - Eclipse to Shadow and Doom, wondering if their love (Or imagined love) is something they ever had and how it's hurting him that they don't love him like he wants them to.

Outrunning Karma - How people look at Eclipse. And Shadow directed towards himself. -nods- But mostly Eclipse.

Panic Room - Eclipse and the lack of identity when the Hive mind collapses.

Riptide - Eclipse towards Shadow and how he wants to be part of Shadow's life. But Shadow isn't what Eclipse had hoped he'd be.

Rivals 'Til the End - Sonic and Shadow friendly rivalry and how they push each other forward.

Runaway - Shadow for the first part, Eclipse for the second part and how both of them get let towards home. Shadow by Sonic and Eclipse by Stone. -cries with emotion-

Stone - Sonic and how he's determined to support Shadow. Knuckles and how he'll always help his brothers. Stone and how he'll support Shadow and Eclipse. Man characters for this one. -nod nod-

Twisted - Eclipse and how he was raised and shaped to be twisted with only a small part of him being good. He likes being twisted.

The Void - I listened to this one on repeat when I wrote the scene of Shadow being trapped in his mind with Eclipse and Black Doom trying to force him to stay. How Black Doom is telling Shadow how existence is meaningless.

You are not your past - Sonic screaming at Shadow how his past mistakes doesn't shape him into who he could be today. And Sonic screaming the same thing at Eclipse.

You should see me in a crown - This was a pure "I'm greater than thou" vibe that I listened to before I wrote Black Doom lines. Cause the world is his and he's gonna make all of them bow to him whether they want to or not.

Ok, ok, I know everyone want and expect a cosy wholesome epilogue now that everything is wrapped up. But my brain just couldn't leave this thing alone and it felt so fitting that I couldn't NOT write the epilogue including it.

Be prepared. I got no clue if it's gonna be good or not cause I got a little teary eyed.

being anti ai is making me feel like in going insane. "you asked for thoughts about your characters backstory and i put it into chat gpt for ideas". studies have proven its making people dumber. "i asked ai to generate this meal plan". its causing water shortages where its data centers are built. "ill generate some pictures for the dnd campaign". its spreading misinformation. "meta, generate an image of this guy doing something stupid". its trained off stolen images, writing, video, audio. "i was talking with my snapchat ai-" theres no way to verify what its doing with the information it collects. "youtube is impletmenting ai based age verification". my work has an entire graphics media department and has still put ai generated motivational posters up everywhere. ai playlists. ai facial verification. google ai microsoft ai meta ai snapchat ai. everyone treats it as a novelty. every treats it as a mandatory part of life. am i the only one who sees it? am i paranoid? am i going insane? jesus fucking christ. if i have to hear one more "well at least-" "but it does-" "but you can-" im about to lose it. i shouldnt have to jump through hoops to avoid the evil machine. have you no principles? no goddamn spine? am i the weird one here?

I’m sorry but I gotta ask, with Eclipse having a new look and all, what would his awakened form look like now? Not that he’d have to use it much but I’m genuinely interested.

Like, would it be the same as before or would there be a change in that form as well? Or does he have control in what he looks like in that form as well?

Ooh interesting question~.

His awakened form would be different, yes! :3 Now as a hedgehog, he has fur and spines rather than scales. So his awakened form would still have the same size and same abilities, but he'd look more like.. hmm.. Like Sonic the werehog! Sharper and larger fangs, bulky chest and arms (and legs) with longer fur. Poof up the floof, you know? But with a mixed colour scheme of his hedgehog form and awakened form as an alien, adding the red crown and red around his shoulders with the white floof. Because while, yes, Eclipse has full control over what his body looks like, his awakened form builds on top of his current form. Not his original form. :3

It's also really uncomfortable for him to change the foundation of his outer appearance. So he'd prefer to not change much now that he's decided on a form to stick with while living on earth.

The last chapter!!!! (Then an epilogue for chapter 44) Knuckles is spending time with his family, wrapping up their experience. And Shadow is preparing to move into Green Hills like he promised.
