Took yet another walk around the lake and the water was shimmering! Wish I had a better camera. I have also been taking some more notes about neurotransmitters. The brain is so interesting I want to know all about it!

Today we had an open lecture with Prof Dr Arndt Rolfs and he talked about an association between Gaucher and Parkinson: he talked about how Transcranial Ultrasound can be used to find hyperechogenicities at the level of substantia nigra and how that finding has a high positive predictive value for development of Parkinson disease in the next 10 years; this is relevant because you can use Ambroxol in patients with Gaucher disease with this finding and this is a preventive management of a neurodegenerative disease which is fascinating. It was such an interesting and fun lecture

Recent revision snaps :) yesterday’s exam went quite well so I’m feeling more positive today. Just two more to go over the next week, then third year is done!

thursday | june 5
classes are over! just two more papers to write and then i'll be able to officially wrap up the term.
the paper i'm analyzing for my nanochem final project is taking me on a wild detour into lanthanide chemistry, so i'll be spending the morning going down that rabbit hole until i understand the basics. it's a bit out of my biochem/orgo comfort zone and the tequila hangover isn't helping but i'm always excited to learn some new science.

Summer to me is a lot about endings. In particular this summer will be all about endings as I wrap the past few years up, not exactly in a neat bow but it will be wrapped and I'll move forward. I'm preparing for some final exams and will continue writing my thesis. Over the summer I hope to get around to learning some algebraic number theory, I've spend the majority of the past year on algeraic geometry which has been a treat however I would like to do something else for a while. Beside that I'm enjoying the moment, I try to refrain from borrowing grief from the future. The melancholy is here, but so is the joy, both are essential to a human experience and I'm just here to be here.
