My final posting before the festivities and all - I give you the Avengers at Christmas, and in moving forward, and in fear of repeating myself, I submit my first book, "Midwinter Mystery - by M J Marshal. I am currently writing the second book in the series which I think would make a great tv series, but then I am slightly biased about it. Anyway, Merry Christmas everyone and have a great time and an even better New Year! If you have enjoyed my cartoons perhaps you would like to read my first book, which I hope reflects some of the spirit of this great tv series.
The book is currently available on Amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/Midwinter-Mystery.../dp/B08M8Z26HH on Kindle or in paperback.

A Very Time-Travel Christmas to you all ! As the good Doctor would say, the facts are not what they seem. Or as is acknowledged by lesser beings, history is only as good as its written, and even then it can open to misinterpretation. Still, such things are not for me to say.
I simply want to wish you all peace and goodwill for the New Year 2022, may it find you in good spirit and leave your sense of adventure and goodwill in a stronger place.

Here’s the photograph I took for the cover of my first, and so far only, book - Midwinter Mystery - “The Town of No Return” by M J Marshal. But in the end I went for a more sedate one. It’s a seasonal, if not festive, mystery story from a time gone by. A fallen police Inspector, is sent to a forgotten outpost in order to redeem himself but finds things there not as they should be, as well as his own personal demons rising up to the surface. Will this be making of him or his simply his last case... only time will time.
It’s a good old fashioned adventure story, with plenty of fun and scares. At least that’s how I intended it to be.
I’m very proud of my effort, and I did it all by myself. I’m not a celebrity, I don’t have an editor, or publisher. Or someone to talk to about my journey. I just did it. Admittedly it took me a considerable lot longer to write than I thought, but I did it.
It’s out there now, on sale, on Amazon Kindle, And I hope one day to be able to write another one, if life gives me the chance.
In the meantime, I want to wish all my followers out there a truly Merry Christmas, and a dream filled 2022.
Take Care out there.

Very sad news about Don Harley. But we should use this time to remember his and all the other great British comic artists who are sadly over-looked by their American counter-parts. I for one think urge all those of great artwork to check out the work of Don Harley, Frank Hampson, Frank Bellamy, Gerry Haylock, Mike Noble, Ron Embleton, Don Lawrence, John Burns and one of my personal favorites in the Dan Dare series Keith Watson.

A tribute by Jeremy Briggs and John Freeman Dan Dare by Don Harley, for Spaceship Away Issue 47 We’re sorry to report the passing of veteran comic artist Don Harley, one of the few remaining creators to have worked on the original “Dan Dare” strip for Eagle comic. He was also highly regarded for his work on titles such as Countdown, drawing “Thunderbirds” and other strips, and for several…
