Recently saw a post about the episode and apparently Azuma Sayaka was completely different in the manga compared to the drama. She's very sweet and very accepting of her senior liking someone else in the live action, but apparently the manga has her more cunning/unlikable? I can't seem to find the manga online to check so it's surprising to hear.

I'm guessing with the drama being 8 episodes, they had to make a few changes for the leads to be able to get together so they kept most of the drama of someone else wanting one of the leads to Karen's arc which does make sense given how her character is and her history with romance. Adding on a pushy romantic rival for her through Sayaka might have prolonged the plot.
