Localizers should not have "creative freedom" because you're not creative people. If you were, you would be writing you own stuff instead of injecting your sensibilities into other people's work. Western audiences don't consume foreign media to see it adjusted to fit the sensibilities you arbitrarily decided in your pop culture-poisoned imagination that they want to see. We have our own shitty media that does that. We don't need a character to say "sus" or "rizz", or make references to Gamergate, or act as a mouthpiece for whatever your pet social issue of the week is to make it "more appealing" to us. It has the exact fucking opposite effect, actually, because you suck at writing and that's why you're a localizer and not a writer, you pathetic failure. Your "creative" changes are not "improving" anything. ChatGPT could do your job, and if you keep this shit up, it will. No one likes you. You know that no one likes you, and we know you do this shit out of spite for the many social groups who rejected you because of your cringe-inducing mannerisms and lack of self awareness. You tried so hard to fit in but failed every time, so now you tell yourself that you're just too smart for normal people. But deep down, you know you're not. You're just a loser. A loser on a power trip, abusing what little influence you have to fluff up your fragile ego. You tiny person. You sad, delusional, little clown. Stay in your lane, keep your opinions to yourself, do your job, and fuck off, idiot.
"
I dont care I wanna read what the author intended not fanfiction
Is this supposed to be a bad thing? That the fucking point. If translators want to write new stories, they should have become authors instead of translators.
>now translators can't alter the original script >the dialogues are now accurate to the japanese personality traits >it disallows translators team to writing new stories more fitting to westerners GOOD. i do not play japanese games for western writing and quips

Sometimes someone will talk about an acquaintance who is an "undiagnosed narcissist with obvious borderline personality disorder traits" and I'm like... We used to just say "a bitch", and I know all the reasons why that was bad, but I'm not sure this is better.

I wonder of they really keep this up throughout the whole game that Elaine leaves as soon as Agnes joins. I really don't know what up with that. Obviously, there has never been any animosity between the girls, it was in fact Elains idea to visit her when we were in the district her school is in. From a developer's point of view, its likely just to not increase the size of the team too much. But regarding the story, it would feel a bit odd if they keep that up. Like they keep replacing each other for some reason.
How is this person remember to learn lines for the shitload of films she is recording without any trouble but forgets any appointments she has all the time? ^^' It this her brain being selective or is it that she has to save her lines but her brain doesn't have enough storage for much else? ^^'

This scene is ruined by their outfits. WTF?! They look like they go jogging and not fight a revolution ^^' Wasn't Sheena Dirke supposed to wear a skirt and... honestly something that doesn't look so far off from Agnes current clothes... now that I think about it. Just, you know with a longer skirt O.o
Ah... it was supposed to be somewhat a rehearsal, that's why the clothes of the main characters seemed so off.
She doesn't look old enough to have retired 15 years ago XD But Trails-Mothers are often on the good-looking side of things.
I know it doesn't look like it at first, because Judiths Grandmother has aged realistically. But Van has been talking about Agnes, her mother and Grandmother mostly looking very much alike. But doesn't the same go for Judths family? They all 3 have the same eye and haircolor and I can totally see Judith looking like her mother does know in 15 years or so. Just saying. (It doesn't make much sense theoretically with Judiths grandmother being an orphan and so on... but... Agnes Grandmother obviously also was an orphan as she was adopted by Epstein. (And coincidentally... didn't Nina also suddenly show up at the pope's door as a child or something like this?) Seriously, the only difference between Agnes and Judiths circumstances is that Agnes has a father, while there seems to be no man in the lives of Judiths mother or grandmother. BUT the rumors in the fandom are that Claudels possibly clone themselves and don't need a man for having a child (which would make Agnes not even be Gramhearts biological daughter...) and if they can do this, why should the family behind Grimcats be able to do the same? In all seriousness, what is the point of introducing Judiths mother? There must be some reason behind it.
Yeah. That outfit makes way more sense XD
I am sorry sweety but I do believe we do not even reach the 19. of july in this game... and god knows if we ever will in the next game ^^' Not sure if all this will even have happen in the next game either...
Seven huh? The little girls in this game grow up so damn fast. I shudder at the idea how KeA might have changed over the past 3 years ^^'
I am as far aways from Trails in the Sky as I can be over 6 years after the games ended and yet here we are talking about the 100 days war and Cassius fucking Bright AGAIN. This man is haunting me... some day he will show up in my nightmares I tell you.
Come on! This is getting ridiculous! Are you telling me Roy has been part of all mayor conflicts thought the Trails-Saga? Isn't that making him a bit too overpowered? I mean it! Osborne was already a big threat by being part of the 100 days war solution and by the way he handled Crossbell but this is just too much!
You have no idea...
Seriously tho... I wonder how long he knew about the role the Claudells play in 1999th loop? Because what if he was part of all that, to ensure the Sin-Counter would stay low so his wife, her mother and his daughter would have a longer life? Or to figure out how to save them?
Falcom likes to repeat patterns and while his methods are different, in the end, Osborne was doing what he was doing for his sons future and safety as much as for Erebonia and Zemurias future and safety. Roy very likely does all of this for his family too while in the progress also making sure Calvard and Zemuria are save - you see that proven much later in the game.
Exactly as I was saying...
Its funny because the first game makes you look Roy him like he is a villain. He didn't make a good first impression in Riveri and with the showoff of those war weapons at the end of the first game he looked like a big thread. After all, we just came from Erebonia, which makes it easy to look at Calvard as a whole, but especially its president like they are automatically enemies. (I still can not shake that feeling of so easily either, as an Erebonian-Bitch through and through to be honest ^^') In the second game, he was a very confusing character, it was hard to understand his motivations and goals and to say as overall as a human, he was a good person, because his actions seemed to contradict themselves, especially with the ones from the first game. HOWEVER this game finally shows his true face and it kind of really comes as a surprise, how much he actually cares...
This day at the Arkreid Solutions office never seems to end XD There goes my plan to sing "the boys are back" today ^^'
According to the fandom, it is the Trails-Law that every Trails-Protagonist may adopt a daughter (if you haven't noticed, this rule doesn't apply to Rean as the person people call his daughter is actually a character that might very well end up his new canon-girlfriend ^^') and according to this fandom, Van adopts Jorda XD
I love that the Title-Screen changes. I just went out of the game to check it XD

more evidence for shakuyaku being shanks and shamrocks mom
Shanks current bounty can be read as “Shi-Ya-Ku”, some seem think think that’s a play on Shanks name, but could it be a play on Shakky’s name? Shi-Ya-Ku = Shakuyaku
the timeline matches up, so it’s possible Shakky was kidnapped one year before God Valley and it’s during that time where she becomes pregnant with the twins.
Most ask if Shakky is the mom of Shanks then why wouldn’t she or Rayleigh reveal it to the crew on Sabaody. I asked that myself and there’s one huge thing that Rayleigh tells Luffy that could explain it all.
Rayleigh said he wouldn’t tell Luffy anything Shanks didn’t tell him himself while Shakky was right there… 🤯
In Irish Mythology there was a hero named Cu Chulainn who was a demigod and considered a “child of fate”…
He was born with red hair although his father had blonde hair akin to the son and his mother dark of hair…
Children who were born with red hair of dark color hair parents were considered children of destiny… 🤯
We’re first introduced to Shanks within a bar, just like Shakky and throughout the story both of these characters seem to be connected to bars across different islands… Shakky - Sabaody/Hachinosu Shanks - Foosha Village/Elbaph
Shanks’s blood type is XF while Shakky’s is X… Is it possible that if Shakky is his mother, then Garling has the F blood type? This could be similar to Hiyori and Oden/Toki… Hiyori has XF blood type while Oden has X and Toki has F (Momo only inherited the X)…
In Sabaody one of the first pirates Shakky mentions to Luffy is Kidd and that she would be routing for Luffy instead because of the damage Kidd causes…
Interestingly, Shanks ends up being the one to take out Kidd after he nearly wiped out his fleet 😳

Our Team in the garten is so huge... there is no way in hell the Professor still believes he can win this, right? ^^'
W-When the fucking hell did you join us? And would you please stop showing up out of nowhere?!
Another reason why it never felt right to me in the first game, when I hated Shizuna, was because I always knew Rean wouldn't want that. And he would not do it himself either. That just the way he is... and I love him for it ♥
My main team is Rean, Shizuna, Van and Agnes and... what the hell was I thinking? ^^'
You do not by any chance spend some tine with Shirley every now and ten? Because... that just gave me serious CS3 and CS4 Final Dungeon flashbacks XD
There is really no doubt in hell that these two get along very well XD
And appearantly she ships everyone's favorite "we are not dating" - Grahlsritter-ship XD
I had a monster Team but that boss was so damn cruel...
Whenever things seem to get moving I am either stopped by the garten or the connect events. It's so annyoing.
I think... Lapis got drunk... from the coffein in an energy drink? O.o
Uh... he really is a bit too much into the "master and servent" thingy ^^'
Nadia reads people like an open book and Kevin is no exception.
That idiot left without telling Ries anything! No wonder. No way in hell would she have let him go and if there was no way to change his mind she would have gone with him. Finally that code is cracked.
At least he admits it, that idiot! Damn you, Onion!
This one, tho boring in the beginning, was kind of worth it. (Why on earth is stuff like this always hidden in optional events? Yes, thanks to the Garden you can see them all if you want, but that is beyond the point!)
I totally get that you can travel through the whole country by car, train or plane and all... but it feels those characters are running around like idiots with no sleep at all. Ashen was at the movie Theater in Edith with Cao just last night and barely 12 hours later she is already in Tharbad. Marielle too seems to be basically everywhere at once. I mean... do these characters ever sleep?
Okay. Who the hell are you and what do you know? Because it seems odd that you might very well just recreated Risettes past by accident for a freaking movie?!
*lol* So the Princess wants Vegas films to make a movie out of 3 and 9, but to make the "sexy" parts work, she wants to ramp up the age, switch the gender and give the female overseer tentacles so that (to quote Nadia) "these and that" can be done to a female Swin and poor Marielle is far too innocent for that kind of "hentai" - picture in her head XD
Marielle we just left you at the hotel, WTF?!
See? That is what I mean. Even if you would consider that we could have made a detour (which we didn't and the story did not require either...) she didn't say a word about leaving when we did and could have hardly reached that place at almost the same time if she left later.

We do leave these guys behind now to go back to the ASO were we finally actually go to a city we have not been before... and something tells me, this will be a long chapter ^^'

This must feel really awkward.
I also have immense respect for Agnes here. Getting into that car with Van and doing her job, even smiling at him as a greeting after getting rejected by him requires an immense amount of strength. I remember myself crying all the time when my heart was broken and I was so angry at the one that broke it - granted, I was younger then, than Agnes is now but I believe that feeling some anger after being rejected is fairly natural. That Agnes is above that, is surely not just do to her making up her mind already about "the future" but also because she is quite mature for her age. She knows Van is not to blame and he let her down as gently as possible and that what they are about to do today is more important than the petti feeling of anger for not being loved back. (And yes, no one can be blamed for not having the same feelings but it doesn't mean you can not be angry still... you are not really angry at them, after all, you are angry at the world for giving you those feelings but not giving him the same. And he is just the only one you can let it out on. Really. I have so much respect for her here.
Its so sad that we couldn't see him with Rean. Just once would have been nice and it would have happened if the Thors-Team would have been able to go to Edith. But some people had to be noisy and now can not go to the capital without being afraid of the CID.
You have to give it to this old man, it might actually be do to his age put he seems to be quite perceptive. He noticed something was off with Ries ánd Kevin too after just exchanging a few words with him and now after watching Van he noticed something off with him after rejecting Agnes too.
I am not sure why they are making such a big fuss about it. We just met her yesterday. Yes, of course, its nerve-wracking if you can't reach her because something might have happened to her, but with her skills, aren't the chances higher that she is just simply busy or doesn't want to answer the phone? Its not like she is some weak old lady that might have gotten killed by a tug trying to steel her money or anything like that. I would be more worried about the Professor who is also "missing" as she fits more of the description of the old defenseless Lady. But no one seems to be too concerned about her.
This is likely Risettes hometown. Makes you wonder if there was a Grimcats in her timeline and what happened to that family, if the place was wracked by Bio-chemical-Monsters or whatever they are called.
Is anyone fluent in French? The only words I know is "Chat Noir" and only from Miracoulus Ladybug (don't judge me!) and I still don't know what it means. Tho I would assume it means something along the lines of black or dark cat (or ally cat? XD) but no idea what the rest could mean.
This nice young lady here, who might remind you of Risette, was actually either Risettes grandmother or mother in another timeline. (Given the data we later get, it is more likely that she is her grandmother or someone who became a mother rather late, but someone on reddit said that it is possible - since we do not know the rules of the loops - that Risettes mother simply got born later in that loop and thus it would make sense. But once again, we have no idea how the loops work...
So theoretically speaking. If her grandmother (lets stay with that for now) learned this recipe - which is likely if Risette knows the taste of it - then she must have worked at this café back then too AND that means - as this recipe was invented by Judiths grandmother - that the Grimcats family has existed then too. Which lead me back to the questions of how on earth could this situation get so out of hand in that timeline?
ALSO! It is very unusual for the loops to and much later then around the time were we are now. Barely a few years if at all. But Risettes timeline got a lot further. Which makes you wonder about Agnes powers again. We know her mother basically withered away and that her father later asks Agnes if she will do the same her mother did which she denies. I have the theory that both Agnes mother and grandmother instead of pushing the time back and do a soft-reset that might just give enough time to find a way to stop the resets all together, they actually sacrificed live-force our years of their live-span to prolonged things and push the reset back a few years. Which would mean that Agnes might have done that, has become a mother and that curse has continued for years. OR for some other reason the Sin counter was kept low. But I am not sure what could have kept the sin-counter low enough for so many years if - and it seems like it - all the loops go roughly the same way. This means that most major stuff that happened so far and that surely made the sin counter go higher should have happened there too.
Apparently what also plays a big role is how fast society develops. Like... the moment they could go to space or something along the lines like this its over. Which would lead to the assumption that for some reason, in Risettes timeline, despite so many more years, they have not managed that? But wouldn't that mean that something must have not happened that pushed the evolution of technologies forward? Like... the orbal evolution? Oh! Is it possible it was the Professors timeline? Hm... lets see if we can piece those information together later, after a few more visits to the garden.
*Achem* Back to the story at hand...
Oh my... what a title if you know what is coming ^^'
Anyway... no invitation to the garten just yet. But let's drag the pacing along by doing all 3 freaking connect-events.
The guts and the strength of that girl to grab this mans hand and stand so close to him and have a heart-to-heart with him after he just rejected her like half a day ago. Amazing. She is truly and simply amazing. And she deserves the world. Not to have to sacrifice herself to save the world!
This is really painful to watch... not just because of the strength it must take her to do and say all that because of the rejection but also because of the fact that she knows whats coming. She won't be there to see him find happiness but she needs him to know that she wishes that for him with all her heart, no matter what.
She is such a great girl...
(On a totally different note... you know the difference haunts me a little. Remeber when Rean and Alisa broke up? It was such a mess. They are both so awkward. Walking on eggshells all the time. Beeing upset when teased about their relationship. And then we have Agnes and Van. Yes, they didn'tr break up, she confessed and je rejected her but still... the way they work with that is so fucking different! And think about the fact that Agnes is a few years younger than Alisa and Rean were back then. And yet... she is so strong. So amazing. Goes on as if nothing happened. And while Van feels obviously terrible bad for breaking her heart, he too treats her like he always did and its just... kind of blowing my mind a bit.)
I think I am going to cry... *sniff*
EXCUSE ME?! We have to keep that freaking thing a damn secret but you can ride around in it like its any common Pancer Soldat in a war? Emilia! You are pushing my buttons here and not in a good way!

As someone who trained one of them, you should know that Trails MCs are naturally attracting all sorts of beautiful woman XD
It is second nature for any of the "first Ladys" in Trails games to take a stand or seat next to the MC and I would not have it any other way but I once again have to say how amazing Agnes is, for not distancing herself from Van until the feeling of sadness and pain has gone away. I would have. Alisa certainly tried. I am sure Kloe was glad back then that she did not have to constantly face Joshua. But Agnes? Back to business as usual. I mean... we know her circumstances and all BUT she acts like she really didn't take that rejection as something to tell on but rather something to work on. Like... she will get older, prettier and even more amazing and then Van will change his mind for sure - which she even basically said so to him in his last connect event with her. But... that would be even more arrogant than Elaine usually allowing Agnes to take the spot next to Van just because she is so sure of him getting back to her. And it seems unlikely for Agnes to be arrogant. Then again... maybe it is just that she doesn't want to waste any of the short amount of time she still has left with sulking but instead wants to be as close to Van as possible, as long as possible.
On another note... Yun Ka Fai actually suddenly got the urge for a health check and went to the Hospital last night just when it so happens that those two guys we dealt with were there and acting strength? Seriously? Are his senses that good or was it just a coincidence - he seems to actually have health issues after all, so its not like it seems he just went there to check on something. But the timing is still too good to be concidence.
Its funny how we tried to hide the Genesis in the first two games and in Kai we flash the Alter Cores to some random doctor ^^'
It seems like Van didn't think this one through. Provocing the doctor in a hospital full of innocent and sick people not knowing what those A.D.-People can do was far too risky.
Yep. Rean certainly learned from the best XD Ash didn't call Rean a "glory haunt" for no reason XD (To be fair, Rean doesn't do it intentionally Ka Fai does! But once again, probably something he learned from him that clashed with his overall character and personality and thus comes out differently in Rean than in his master. Most scenes were Rean is doing the "glory hunting" he intends to protect people and the glory just so happens to come with it. Ka Fai does both together on full intention it seems XD
What do you mean with that? Its called "attacking the enemy". You thought we would just stand there and look at you or what?
I obviously know why that is... and who the guy under the masks is. HOWEVER what I did not realize before was that the masks have different colors. The light on the masks, that is. Thus guys is blue. And the ones from last times had red and green. I wonder if this has any meaning. This guy here, is a non-fighter. Maybe the color indicates that? Red might mean an aggressive fighter and Green maybe means a less aggressive fighter? It could also have something to do with their character. We have some among them who are essentially not bad people by default. This guy here is just rotten to the core, but he isn't even doing it for evil, he is just naturally an asshole. Like Harwood XD So maybe the color indicated in his case that he is neither good nor bad? Or is neither dangerous nor to be underestimated? Hm...
Okay, lets stop dancing around the facts here. The guy with the blue light on his mask is the man that got killed at the beginning of the first game. Something with Gioccomo or something like that. This here, is someone Feri is strongly reacting too and was supposed to misslead us to believe its Aida. HOWEVER later one part of her masks gets destroyed and the data-mining basically confirmed what we all have been assuming by then. This here is Feri. And adult version of her obviously. So given that the reset usually happens before Feri can become an adult (she is currently 14) she is either from Risettes timeline. From a timeline were she was born earlier or there was a timeline that got at least 4 years past 1210. Maybe two would be enough as well. But given her attitude, that is very likely a Feri that lost Aida, but didn't have Van, Agnes and the ASO to lean on. Possible a Feri that actually had to kill Aida herself, as it was requested of her.
I fear that I am terrible underleved because this is a very terrifying amount of HP that she has and I can not seems to get it down.
This is very likely going to be my first game over and my official punishment for rushing this game like this.
I somehow managed without being Game Over but it was a close one. UFF!

Jupp. He is an absolute showoff XD BUT he saved us.
Oh look. This Van-Chapter is over. We are not done with this place yet, but I guess we will switch back to someone else now? The Final is not there yet but should be coming up next for Rean and Kevin as there isn't much more to do for them at this point.
No Garten this time tho. How weird...
Of course I am still stuck with Van and the ASO.
It makes sense tho. Kevins and Reans final plays on the day of the launch for obvious reasons and Van is just not there yet, so it would have made no sense to jump to them on that day if Van hasn't even reached it yet.
Fine...

After Persona 3 Reload another Remake gets censored at the source to be less offensive to "modern audiences." And it's Falcom no less. This line happens not even 30 minutes into the game.

Rich stable empire who have colonised islands near them (Adrestia) starts a war with an impoverished nation who have economic and political turmoil (Farghus) and a nation at war constantly trying to create a more democratic (ish??) system (Leicster), because the more tumultuous nation take hope in a slightly fishy religion, and also the bad dubstep villains told you to.
Also Leicster has a different faith. Rhea is not in control of all of the Seiros stuff, becasue the western and eastern churches exist. She's trying to be - at least in Farghus - but it reads like Edelgard and Dubstep boiz just want a faith they can control and/ or wipe out.
And some people think that rich stable empire is in the right. I know Edelgard can have a lesbian relationship with the protagonist, but that doesn't justify the fact that she is doing so much wrong. Personally I'd rather have a straight leader who didn't want to wipe out their impoverished neighbours because they believed in the wrong religion.

Trump is right about the Smithsonian Museums. American museums are often used as tools of anti-white propaganda and other woke nonsense.
Remember that time the National Museum of African America History and Culture tried to be racist toward White people but ended up making a poster that shows why White culture is awesome and based? I remember.

Many of the people who say superhero comics were always left-leaning/liberal are the same ones who ignore that superheroes have always been anticrime and pro-individual responsibility.
Like, sure some criminals have been played for tragedy, especially from the bronze age onward, but the heroes were always treated as correct in punching them in the face and sending them to jail.
Classic Superhero comics aren't inherently left or right wing. You can look at any major character and find ideals all across the political spectrum. The main characteristic of the typical superhero comic is hope. Hope that one person can make a difference. Hope that there will be someone to help us when we need it the most. Hope that things will get better no matter how bad they seem right now. Hope that we can rely on people even when the world seems cynical and uncaring. Superheroes are aspirational. They're an ideal to strive towards. Something untainted by the real world that inspires us to be better. That's why the best superheroes, the ones that stick with us for generations, are characters like Superman, and Batman, and Spider-Man, and the X-Men. No one ever says "I ran into that burning building to help that old woman because that's what Dr. Manhattan would have done." They say "I did it because that's what Superman would have done".
That's what makes a real superhero. Not whether or not they embody a real world political idea.

I dont get how anyone can excuse what localizers did to this scene
I have seen many localization defenders try to excuse say the changes to estelle's lines by going but its funny but the original jp was bland /dry ( when so what they arent the authors they arent meant to alter how the characters come off)
or claiming the changes fits the character when not really they didnt say it in the og
We will have a lot of trouble with the Sky-Remake, as back then there was no such thing as a Fan-TL or any kind of Ki-Translation-Programm to translate directly from Japanese to English. Meaning that with the original Sky and the Way XSeed translated it, no one knew any better, which is a huge difference when it comes to every other game starting with the Crossbell-Arc. While people have mentioned at some point over the years multiple situations where the translation of Sky was far off from the original, especially when it comes to Estelles Character, people have come to know and love the translation from XSeed and thus just accepted it and even defended the changes. Now with the Remake and another company handling the translation, we will have plenty of changes AGAIN, some of them will be closer to the original (I've seen on reddit that they changed some NPCs names and people mentioned that the new names are closer to the original ones, than the names XSeed used. HOWEVER on the other hand they apparently turned the Esmelas tower into the Jade Tower for some reason? Which appearantly differs from what the Japanese version was going for?) and some of them won't be. AND to top it off, even IF Gungho is actually trying to give us a translation closer to the actual Japanese script of the game, after all those years, this will cause some trouble with continuity as most of the later games translations have (which makes sense) used the names from the X-Seed-Translation.
At this point, Trails-Games have been localized by THREE different companies and this can not be good for the frenchise on the long run. Because imagine that Kai 2 (or whatever the next game will be called) is also taken care of by Gungho for some reason and they then decide to stay closer to the actual translation of the japanese script and change Elaines name from "Beautys blade" to "Sword Maiden" as this is literally what she is called and the confusion it will bring to all those people who have never seen a fantranslation before?
The whole issue with the defenders of the localizations is that they are usually people who have NEVER played a Trails-Game with any kind of translation that is NOT coming from companies like NISA who turn one sentence into half a book (as proven by Erika in your picture) when there is absolutely no need for it. Which means they never truly saw all the big changes they have made. I would be oblivious to them too if I had ever only seen and played the official translation. Of course someone who never played the original japanese version with a decent translation would't be bothered by Elaine beeing called "Beautys Blade" instead of "Sword Maiden" because they never even knew that was changed to begin with and never gotten used to it while playing the game and never understood how many damn lines needed to be changed because now NONE of the constantly reacuuring jokes regarding the "maiden" in her title work anymore. They never experienced how it felt like to have scenes that were given your ship fire were diminished, completely mistranslated or changed in a way that they take the fire away from your ship. They do not know how it feels when you KNOW that this is just so not what this character actually said in that scene. And when people want to explain it to them, they decide to be ignorant.
Often, when you hear arguments about changes in translation, you get: "A lot of words have multiple meanings and NISA chose the better one" like for Agnes at the end of Daybreak, when she basically blurted out she loves Van and Nisa decided to change it into something more tame. (Which is absolutely stupid, because this whole thing was supposed to be a homage to Tita blurting out she loves Agate infront of Loewe were here too everyone from the team kept ignoring it, like it meant nothing, despite knowing better.)
NISA is an asshole for trying to tone things down they do not like, even tho they were in the original script. I am pretty sure the whole reason why Elaine isn't called a Maiden in Nisas version, is because the indication behind the title and the jokes that come with it.
In any case, as you were saying, excusing immens changes in the translation with: "It better fits the character" is absolut bullshit. Because it only better fits the character NISA wants to make out of them, but not the characters they were intended to be by Falcom, the creators. NISA, XSeed and likely also Gungho pay far too much attention to catering to the Western audience. People in the western fandom find that ship problematic? We change any line that hints too much at it. People don't like a ship? We completely change sentences in a way that this ship is not hinted at anymore. People could see the word "maiden" as something sexual and the jokes made about the title as "attacking people who are maidens"? Have no fear! We completely change the characters title to something else! Oh no! Estelle is a female MC, the Western Fandom hates woman as the main character, we have to make her as quirky as possible so everyone will like her, even tho that is far off from what Falcom intended for her!
I do agree that there are sometimes parts of the original script that are hard to translate into another language and thus have to be changed (like certain phrases that people outside from Japan wouldn't understand the meaning of) but we are not talking about normal sentences, names or entire character-traits.
Sadly... our complaining will do nothing. Worse, we have to be grateful that there are companies out there willing to translate such a huge script for such a niche franchise from such a small company. Even if they turn the scrip around like they own the game.
And the people who keep defending the changes will never be silenced, because once again, they don't even know what they are talking about, as they never have played the games with an actually decent translation.

Every time I interact with radfems I think "wow, these people aggressively assume their experience is universal, talk over anyone who disagrees, and seem to lack any cognitive empathy for people (especially women!) who experience the world differently than they do" which in some kind of cosmic irony is a description that could also apply to many misogynists.
