Hello and thank you for visiting my website.
A little about myself and my interests; I am a lifelong artist who is committed to social justice and visual activism. I am especially interested in portraiture and ethnography and how these two genres co-inform and produce knowledge. I have spent a fair amount of time in academia studying sociocultural anthropology looking specifically at critical race theory, critiques of contemporary capitalism, and gender and sexuality scholarship. I bring these specific lenses into my work as I critically analyze my role as a white, raised poor/working class queer woman. I am fascinated and inspired by natural light and the intimate moments shared with me with the folks I photograph. The power of visibility through photographic evidence of the lived experience of peoples whom are otherwise marginalized by mainstream society continues to inspire and spur me create.

My favorite images from a shoot are usually the moments that I capture that are somewhere suspended between intention and a breath taken to relax.

Quote
At this moment it seems that queer visual culture needs to nourish our sense of potentiality and not reinforce our feeling of disappointment. If we are to go on, we need a critical modality of hope and not simply dramatization of loss and despair
