The realms of darkness that stretched endlessly within the plains of Diyu were stirring. Quiet, terrible things were beginning to wake in those hallowed, ancient confines.

Sunk deep beneath the earth, powers that had spent centuries at rest, were resting no longer.

Enthroned on his terrible seat of bones, Dì Moguǐ looked out across his realm, his eyes seeing far past the confines of the vast throne room which he inhabited.

He had been constrained too long, far too long.

honestly if ur a new user from twitter. u don’t HAVE to have a whole blog set up immediately for people to not block you. like just change ur icon to a cartoon character or something and make a post that says like. “hey i’m new i’m just lurking here for a bit to get my bearings before i start posting/reblogging” and ur fine just like, make it clear you’re not a bot yk

though i do reccomend starting to reblog things eventually, it’s a good way to keep all the stuff you like saved in one place so you can look back on it later, especially if you tag stuff. while the search function isn’t perfect, tagging stuff you post/reblog makes it easier to find. a bit more organised than the bookmark feature on twitter at least :p

Aruani Headcanon (after the war, but imagine if the Curse has not been broken)

Contains manga spoilers (Ch 139 is not out at the time of writing).

Armin and Annie survive the Rumbling. They decide to get their own house and spend their remaining years together

Armin is the one who suggests that they live together. Annie is reluctant at first, but is extremely happy when she learns that Armin wants to be with her.

Armin maintains a leadership role in the military. Armin feels responsible for what is left of humanity and decides to serve the public by maintaining his position in the armed forces.

Armin is now an honorary member of the military, being one of the survivors of the military before the Rumbling (and the 104th)

Annie doesn’t rejoin because of what happened in the past

Both Annie and Armin that this is the best choice for her. After all, she only has less than 2 years to live.

She admires Armin’s resolve, and wishes she can do the same. But she doesn’t have any strength left to face the world, and prefers to spend her remaining years in peace with the person she loves the most.

Armin knows that Annie will pass away in less than two years, but he still looks for a solution, a cure for the Curse

He doesn’t care if the Curse takes him away eventually, because he’s finding a cure for her.

He can’t picture a world without her (again).

She won’t be sleeping inside a crystal this time. She will be gone forever.

And he can’t live for 9 years without Annie.

Armin refuses to accept it.

But Annie has.

“I will find a way, Annie.”

“Don’t waste your time looking for a way out of this curse. I am going to die. And so will you.”

“I will find a solution, Annie.”

A year passes. Annie knows her time is almost up, and Armin still hasn’t found anything.

She doesn’t want to go. Not when she’s finally enjoying life.

Not when she finally knows what it means to live, to hope, to dream.

To love.

Annie wishes she doesn’t have to die. But she will, eventually.

And she will leave him alone.

She doesn’t want to go.

“Armin,” Annie tells him one night, “I wish things were different.”

“Me too.”

“I wish I hadn’t been a warrior. That I hadn’t have to inherit a curse.”

Armin knows. Armin knows that she’s saying goodbye.

“Armin, thank you for everything.”

Armin doesn’t respond. Normally he can easily think of a reply, but he doesn’t speak.

“Armin when I die–”

“Don’t say another word.”

Armin hugs her tightly, and Annie returns the favor. She buries her face on his chest, and she feels hot tears strolling down her cheeks. But they aren’t hers.

Months pass. Annie knows her time is almost up. She isn’t scared of dying, but she can’t do that to him after everything.

She has accepted it, but she can’t bring herself to think about the day she’s finally gone.

She looks at his face while he’s sleeping, and she smiles to herself.

“What a view.”

She gently places a kiss on his lips, fearing that she wakes him up. He doesn’t.

But Armin can feel Annie kiss him as he pretends to be asleep.

Annie sleeps facing him, and holds his hand. She closes her eyes.

Good night, Armin.

Armin wakes up the next day, sees her sleeping peacefully beside him.

“Annie, let’s go to beach today. What do you think?”

Annie doesn’t respond.

Armin touches her face and it hits him. He starts to cry uncontrollably, and pulls Annie close to him.

He can’t feel her anymore.

He plants kisses on her forehead, her cheeks, her lips. 

He lies on the bed silently, holding Annie in his arms while the pain crushes him inside.

After a while, he starts stroking her hair and whispers,

“Please wait for me.”
