Master Post for Ateez Adventure Time AU

Ok let's get into it! I'll be adding to this post whenever I post anything new for the AU! I'm going to try to organize everything so that it's in chronological order of the story! There are a few arcs I've got planned too so I'll try to make everything as clear as possible haha

(also I do my best but sometimes I confuse myself with exact ages of the characters and exactly like. what time of year things would take place, but think of it like any CN show we grew up with - time is seemingly an illusion if I don't think about it too much...)

Good to know points about the AU:

Universe A = main universe

**this au is inspired by Adventure Time. I'm not using main characters from AT, just using the general vibe of the show and some plot points and character points (ex: Vampires drink the colour red)

Universe Z = no magic universe

Ages at the beginning of the story (approximately):

Seonghwa - 1000 (physically 25)

Hongjoong - 2500 (physically 25)

Yunho - 24

Yeosang - 850/900 (physically 24)

San - a little over 100 (physically 23)

Mingi - a little more than 600 (physically 23)

**characters who are "immortal" age about 1 year over the course of 100 years (SH, HJ, YS). San and Mingi are not immortal but didn't age due to other circumstances (in hell time works differently, and MG was frozen for 600 years)

Genuinely I don't think Pearl held back against Scar at all based on two things. 1. Scar said outright he wanted a real victory and a free win would be lame so Pearl respected that and fought him as well as she could. 2. Based on Pearl's pov she looked like she was genuinely trying, even if she didn't want to win. She took every opportunity to hit him when she could, but scar was really good at kiting her with his punch bow and getting creative spawning mobs and placing tnt to make some distance and keep shooting her. Pearl is great at pvp but she believed in Scar enough to believe that he could defeat her legitimately and he did.

OK part 1 of how I think the curses work in the Life Series

in universe I don't know how long Scar survived after he pressed the complete task button but out of universe I'm pretty sure he died before he even pressed it

cause you cannot convenience me that zombie in the ravine didn't kill him while he was too busy being stunned he won the game to do anything. He had his back turned to it with one and a half heart left and a second later it cut to him with half a heart climbing out of the ravine. I'm sorry but that just says 'got a cheeky little rez for narrative purposes' to me. Which is totally fine, we know they've done that in the past, a little bit of out of universe tweaking doesn't ruin the improv or the immersion imo

however. anyone want to play around with the idea of the watchers - not satisfied with the show they got - forcing Scar back to life to keep playing their game?

I think Scar was always meant to win. He was so, so close to third life. It was up to pure skill that Grian landed more crits. So, in Last Life The Watchers took Grian away from the equation. He still lost.

Double Life. The Watchers realised he was stronger with allies, stronger with Grian at least. Alas, they couldn't force Grian to play his own game. And Scar died alone in the woods.

Limited Life. He had a family. The Waters decided to keep Grian at arms length, Scar's cousin. Scar's cousin who eventually killed him.

Secret Life. The Watchers were finally in the game. Even if it was just through a statue. Make Scar alone. Make him friendless. It wasn't a coincidence Grian wanted Scar to be allies on the fucking session Scar had to do the opposite of everything someone told him. They pushed him to his limits. Not only lonley and friendless, but hated, too.

Scar was always meant to win. It just took a while for The Watchers to figure out how

scar’s finale was a constant and ever growing “oH MY GODDD” I was containing so much screaming when I was watching it at the ungodly hours of the night.

I NEEDED to draw the final parts of it so badly. the brain has worms on his descent into unhinged villainy.

Eclipse

so gonna rant a little here about this.

Scar's been my favourite pov for this season and a few weeks ago i got the thought of what would the space symbol lore thing be for scar if he won, and i landed on an eclipse, the vibes just felt so fitting.

I looked it up and found eclipse symbolises the disruption of natural order and was believed to be a bad omen, and that just cemented my thoughts on it.

The way he was alone with no allies for most of the time, thought to be really bad at surviving, and despite that, he managed to defy the odds and win against some of the strongest fighters. I'd sat that very well qualifies as a disruption of natural order. And he was often seen as a bad omen because of his chaos and villain tasks, making people avoid him.

I let this thought simmer at the back of my mind hoping he'd win and i could draw and put this idea out there, the chances were slim, but im so happy it actually came true and i can share this thought with all of you :D

(of course there's more parralels to be drawn with Scar killing Pearl, 'the moon', last, as well as other parralels with grian, but i'll just leave it off there for now :) )

Can I... talk about the theory that winners help craft the next game?

Because, and I really can not say this enough, it puts So Much into perspective.

Everything starts out Normal. Three lives, simple, cut and dry, there hasn't been a winner yet. No one to help craft the game. (And there's something to be said about how simple it really was. Not even a real expectation of the world becoming pvp or combative. No idea of the war to come)

Then Grian wins. The green killer, the man who vowed his first life to the one whose life he took. The next game the boogie man is born. A mechanic that allows and, in fact, demands, a green kill. People can trade lives back and forth, currency and debt wrapped up in one. (can we still be friends? Said the red partner. A life time later and reds are hostile, alone. Maybe it's an answer: No. Not anymore)

Scott wins this time. He refuses to play the game. He will not kill his team, he will love and he will do so fiercely and with all of himself. The next game people are attached through to their very souls. Every bit of damage to one soul is done to its twin. There is no boogeyman. (There is no way for a widow to be left without their love)

Pearl wins and she wins a blood bath. Spent the game draped in red, only wolves for company. Sitting in her tower, shivering in ice, maybe she wanted it to end. To see where it would. Limited life rewards you for killing, limited life has a clock tick tick ticking down, you always no how long you have. A curse yes, but a blessing too.

Now It's Martyn's turn.

And what a turn it is.

Keep your secrets, says the disloyal man, keep them well. Everything hurts, everything Matters, says the man fracturing with every loss. (What if we could love each other without hurting? Says The Hand, who never wanted to be coated in blood)

More importantly, Martyn has always seen the watchers below the surface. Now, they're right here in front of him. Something that could almost... be rebelled against, no? Something that someone else could finally point to and say: hey, hey isn't that familiar?
