Hi everyone and welcome to the 6th Johnica Week! This year, 2025, is a special one because we're here to appreciate John and Veronica on their 50th wedding anniversary!

As for now, 2025 might be the last Johnica Week I will organise (unless there's still demand, I might organise a celebration day on their anniversary but not a whole multi-days event) but don't worry, I will keep running this blog to share Johnica fics and fanarts, and the masterlist will always stay open if you want your creations to be added! 

When is the event? 📆

This year the event starts on Thursday 16th January and ends on Sunday 19th January, with Saturday 18th being the 50th Wedding Anniversary!

The Theme 👑

The 50th wedding anniversary is obviously a huge milestone, usually called “golden anniversary”, and GOLD is the main theme of this celebration! 

Gold is malleable and flexible, like the compromises made between a long-term married pair in order to make it to this milestone year.

Then, it is resilient, impervious to heat and acid, and acts as a reflection of the eternal endurance of a long-term union.

Last but not least, its rarity and luxurious nature is an ideal reflection of the precious nature of a long-term marriage.

Gold is not just a symbol of money or luxury, but represents a strong and deep relationship, showing how much the two value each other beyond just material things. Keeping this in mind, this might help you as an underlying prompt or starting point for the theme of your creation for this event! 

Some of the daily prompts are based on Gold: memories, special objects, themes, songs, plus a classic romantic fic trope each day. As always, you don't have to follow the prompts, feel free to let your imagination fly!

Queen x Genshin original Standees! ✨️ Interest check!

It's been a while and I promise this time I'm finally serious about this project. I'm opening a little survey as an interest check for STANDEES of my Queen x Genshin crossover. The production will take a while and I plan to have these made for January 2025 🙏🏻 (no calendar this year though!) I need to take this survey first to figure out an indicative quantity to understand the timings and costs so please fill this only if you're actually interested in buying at least one. Each standee will cost approximately ~15/20€ with a discount for a "full band" bundle, + shipping. (Read more in the survey for all the infos)

Mind that this is not a preorder, and I will open real preorders later in my BigCartel website, but I would like to get at least 10 replies to this survey before starting the project, to see if it's worth it or not.

So, I’ve had a bit of a disaster in that my MacBook laptop decided to die on me yesterday and I’ve lost several chapters of the two stories I’m working on at the moment as I did not have the documents backed up anywhere.

Long story short, there may be a delay of a few weeks before I get back to posting weekly chapters as I’m waiting for a new MacBook to arrive and then have to re-write about 5 chapters mainly from memory.

Next time I’m going to make sure I back up my documents on iCloud!

After the bad news about Live Aid, John struggles to face his family in fear to disappoint them. But at least for a moment it seems the hairdresser is the last of his problems.

Well maybe it’s a good thing John couldn’t sing - he would be unstoppable and likely world Deaky Domination would follow there after if he could because he can do everything else! 😂

And a little more geeky Deacky things.

Deacon played acoustic guitar not only in his own songs, but was involved in other people’s (because he is skilled one – do you remember Classical Gas(!) at his sixteen?). For example, he can be heard in “Father to Son“, May’ “She Makes Me (Stormtrooper in Stilettos)” and “In the Lap of the Gods“.

Also I will mention gentle ‘My Melancholy Blues’ written by Fred. There is no backing vocals or guitars, only piano, voice and delicate bass. On the record Deacon used a regular fretted bass, on stage he plays fretless bass and sit (once!).

Another widely known (still love it though!) fact from QUEEN history – May had asked Deacon to play double bass as a joke but a couple of days later he found Deacon in the studio with the instrument, and he had already learned to play it. It was for ‘39‘, but in ‘Bring Back That Leroy Brown‘ Deacon played a line on the double bass too (it’s not easy, guys, even for bass player!).

And a little fact gem: “Sleeping on the Sidewalk“, a blues excursion, was written and sung by May. It is the only song in their discography to be recorded (except for the vocals) in 1 take. On a close inspection, May sings with an American accent, Deacon can be heard playing the wrong notes in some bass parts, and May can also be heard laughing at the end of the song. It is also one of the few Queen songs that does not feature Mercury, however, he did perform the lead vocals in live performances. May has confirmed the first take of the backing track was used – the atmosphere as natural as possible.

Why Sleeping on the Sidewalk is a treasure? I have a big dream – to see how the QUEEN really wrote and recording, not on camera, not on purpose, clean and edited, but with the fights (2 days did not speak after), with the difficulty at easy places and divine revelations, with small and large technical findings, with endless takes and emptiness after.

And if you say there’s One vision documentary!, I’ll drag this quote from Brian: “We made a very rare decision to have documentary cameras in there while we were recording, but the documentary cameras actually ruined the whole thing, because I think everyone was so conscious of them being there – everyone sort of played to the cameras. And when I watch any pieces of that now, I think it’s totally false.” After it, I look at ‘one dump, one turd, two tits, John Deacon’ with great suspicion, I can’t separate the acting on camera from the normal boys’ behavior (but it’s all we really have). So viva la naturale, what a pity that is my dream is unlikely to come true.

You can never have enough Deaky

It is universally known to any Queen fan that John Richard Deacon is an absolute cutie. But we also know that he is far from innocent. Misfire, for example. But one thing about him that we don't talk about often enough is just how gorgeous he was at Montreal 1981. We do not say often enough how he looked cute, but also really freaking hot.

This story is amazing, beautifully atmospheric and has wonderful literary imagery! This is everything you could want in a Johnica fic and more so go and show @eileen-crys some well-deserved love for this piece!

A trap between rain and fog

Halloween 1972, John Deacon picks up his girlfriend Veronica for a romantic date in the countryside, both eager to join their friends at their return for Trick or Treat. But the day of Halloween is not a regular day, and the unexpected is always looming in the autumnal fog.
