𝐃𝐈𝐒𝐂𝐋𝐀𝐈𝐌𝐄𝐑  :  melody   is   a    minor   having   died   at   the   age   of   sixteen.   my   primary   iteration   of   her   portrays   her   as   such.   i   have   a   verse   where   she   was able   to   grow   up   that   has   here   around    twenty-three    years   of   age.   my   version   of   melody   has   been   crafted   completely   on   my   own   and   i   would   appreciate   my   headcanons   not   be   ripped  off.    furthermore,    is   an   selective   activity   blog   based   on   my   mood.   do   not   attempt   to   interact   if   inconsistent   presence   bothers   you.

the fire that killed melody : what caused it ? why did it happen ?

nora bettemir, married name walker, died along with her husband cliff walker, their sons kaleb and jermey and their daughter melody in their new york home. the family died on a summer day in june of 93', not knowing it would be their last day on earth.

it was nothing major, just a smoke on the balcony gone wrong, with a fire that could not be stopped. melody had lit the deadly match, throwing it down onto the ground, but not before it caught in the sun and next thing she knew the curtains were aflame. including melody and her parents and two brothers, twelve people would perish in the deadly fire. what was a gathering for kalebs send off to college, turned into a burial ground for the entire family.

sophie westward (maternal aunt, henry's wife) she was at home taking care of her sick father so she was not in attendance. melody had appeared to sophie a few years after the accident unsure how to tell her aunt it was her fault. sophie blames melody for the loss of her mother, husband and daughter. melody has not appeared to sophie since.

george bettimer (maternal grandfather, clarrisa's husband) was at home sick under his daughters care. melody watched from afar as her grandfather's conditioned worsened, eventually leading to his demise. melody attended the funeral.

assuming frozen empire takes place in 2024, with melody and her family dying in 93' its been roughly 31 years since it happened. that gives a long enough time frame for the current staff to be totally unware melody lurks around the diner. as i said in a previous post, the diner was sold by melodys aunt after the family all perished. most of the og staff have since left and the rumor's of melody's haunting are just that, rumor's. prior to the events of the film (few years) melody stops returning to the diner unless in a state of distress. being so close to her family's memory begins to take a toll after so long away from them. in terms of canon, she was at the diner that night due to her conflicted feelings about damming phoebe and new york in order to get home. i personally don't believe phoebe was a target to begin with. i think garraka simply used their connection to his advantage.

she   has   been   made.   a   simple   mistake   really,   letting   her   guard   down   long   enough   to   be   visible   to   humanity.   melody   has   been   here   since   the   massacre   of   her   family.   the   guilt   radiates   in   her   chest   as   hard   as   it   did   when   she   first   died   ....   this   was   all   her   fault.   stuck   between   one   reality   *&   the   next,   she   floats,   hoping   for   her   long   anticipated   reunion   with   her   loved   ones.   melody   doesn't   like   to   be   bothered   these   days   *&   this   stranger   looking   right   through   her,   well,   the   ghost   isn't   sure   what   to   make   of   it.   ❛❛   no   need   to   be   dramatic,   i'm   right   here.   you   can   see   me.   ❜❜   eyes   threaten   to   roll   back,   hands   fidgeting   with   her   book   of   matches,   barely   hearing   the   rest   of   the   strangers   hello.   ❛❛   i'm   not   sure   what   your   game   is   here,   but   yeah,   i   exist.   unless   of   course   you   are   the   one   seeing   things.  ❜❜   there   is   a   small   shrug   as   melody   turns   away   to   look   out   the   lamp   lit  streets   of   new   york,   enjoying   the   scenery   of   her   once   beloved   home.   ❛❛   what   makes   you   think   you   can   help   me   ?   you   don't   know   the   first   thing   about   me.   ❜❜

despite the fact the walkers ran a small little diner, they were actually super well off financially. melody grew up wanting for naught. her and her brothers were comfortable but neither of them let that go to their head. melody diner was a neighborhood hot spot for all the high school students and young adults. of course after the death of the walker family the diner fell into new management. it all went to sophie westward, sister of nora walker (maiden bettemir) who had no desire to keep it going. thus the diner was sold to a third party. the visits began to dwindle due to rumors about the deceased walkers haunting the establishment. this eventually died down, however the diner would never be what used to be. melody did haunt the diner shortly after her death and it took her awhile to venture out away from the place. it was the only place she could feel her families memories live on.
