I actually discovered Erha before SVSSS LOL,,, I always saw it at the top of the list whenever I was looking for a novel to read!

I found it around 2023, tried reading the first 7 chapters and instantly HATED IT,,, I hated Mo Ran so much that I left Erha on my to read list for a whole year. It was only until late March 2024 that I actually sat down and read through the entirety of Erha. (I finished it within less than a week LMFAOOO 😭😭😭)

But from my initial first reading, I actually detested Erha and I hate-read through most of it. All the smexy sexy scenes grossed me out, and I mainly stuck through it because I liked Chu Wanning and Xue Meng somewhat. (I wasn’t really attached to them at this point.)

I hated Mo Ran, Taxian-Jun, I hated the ending, I hated a lot of things, but after letting Erha simmer in my mind for a little longer, my opinion of Erha eventually grew better!

I feel Erha isn’t the type of novel you should read only once. Because during my first reading through, I was so distracted by my annoyance towards Mo Ran, that I missed so many interesting details. And Erha has A LOT OF FUN DETAILS. I honestly can’t count how many times I’ve reread Erha, but each time I reread it, I discover something new that significantly improves my opinions on whatever character or situation and I think that’s so fun!

Like for instance, Mo Ran. His murky background and moral ambiguity quickly made him one of my favorite characters of all time. Even now I still struggle liking some aspects of Mo Ran, even when I understand his circumstances much better, and that forces me to contemplate and debate longer about his character. Which is actually really fun to gnaw on! It’s also rather reflective on Mo Ran’s character, as you follow though the Mo Ran and watch him grow into a better person.

(This is a random head-canon of my mine, BuT I’m dying on the hill that Song Qiutong was the one who convinced Mo Ran that gold and wealth could make someone happy. As result he would try to shower Wanning in riches, which Wanning hates.)

There’s honestly so much more I love about Erha, but because THERE IS SO MUCH TO ERHA,,, my thoughts are so scattered. I could go on for days about certain scenes or tidbits from Erha, but at the amount I can’t think LMFAO

I think the TGCF discourse is worth conversing about!!

For the longest time I’ve been driven insane about disliking TGCF, since majority of the time I see someone trying to express their dislike, the conversation would typically end with, for example, “Oh you’re not a true MXTX fan”, “You have sh*t taste”, or at worst, a death threat. Which are absolutely insane responses??? On top of it, TGCF is probably the most popular out of the 3 MXTX series, so it’s bound to make yourself feel crazy for not liking TGCF.

You can’t change how you FELT and no media is perfect.

Everyone finds different reasons and justifications as why we, ourselves, adore something, and everyone has their own preferences! — It’s just sad to shame someone because of a difference in taste. 😭

For TGCF…. I couldn’t finish it… before anyone asks me to give it another go,, I TRIED MY BEST TO LIKE IT,,,,

I’ve read TGCF’s novel up to around chapter 100, I caught up to the manhua, and watched both seasons of the donghua. Even after all of that, I couldn’t find anything I liked about it. 😭

I think the one major thing that destroyed my enjoyment of TGCF was that before I even tried TGCF, is that I heard so much hype about it being one of the best Chinese series out there that when I actually started it, it didn’t meet any of my expectations or hook me on anything.😭
