ok no but it’s about how nothing ever changes and how to immortal beings they don’t notice the cycle they’re trapped in. they try to break it. create new things. clubs. weddings. nothing ever changes. the club burns down. the wedding falls apart. you’re raising your son. he’s grown again and he doesn’t remember you. sunrise sunset. its back to the beginning. nothing ever changes. wishes and sword fights. boys nights and family dinners. it’s different you assure yourself. it’s different. i’m leaving soon. you tell yourself. it’s not true. because nothing ever changes. you try and try and try to leave. but nothing ever changes.

Who knew how hard I would cry over the fact Colin doesn’t remember going to the zoo to look at the rhinos with Laszlo or the fact as a teen Laszlo asked him one final time if he wanted to go see the rhinos and Colin told him off so Laszlo never got one more actual day with him. That was fun.

Exactly and I’m loving it
I am depressed but also weirdly satisfied by the ending of this season. Like a strange melancholy, that the writers probably wanted me to feel??? Also good for Guillermo finally getting it done. Achieve your dreams, you vicious little murderer! ♥

I'm thinking, I'm thinking about next season, I'm thinking about Laszlo and Colin. I'm thinking about Laszlo deciding to forget everything that happened with baby Colin, putting it away in his mind to protect himself. I'm thinking about how we're all going to see subtle changes in Colin and it's slowly going to become obvious to us that Laszlo's parenting did influence him in some way, but none of the vampires notice, not really. I'm thinking about Colin out of the blue and completely innocently saying "Hey Laszlo, guess what?" I'm thinking about Laszlo's face after hearing that.

Finale thoughts/leaving wwdits internet fandom
I fucking loved that finale. I missed Colin so much and it brought a huge smile to my face to see him again in all his dry droning glory. Don’t get me wrong baby Colin was great but adult Colin Robinson has always been a favorite of mine. The Guide and Nadja moments were golden. Matt Berry put 1000% into this episode. I’m so proud of Guillermo for making that big decision on his own. The ending of them all singing together was amazing. The episode overall had an eery tone. I absolutely loved it. Leaving wwdits tumblr forever at this point the negativity is so gross and ruins my enjoyment of the show. I hope the next season is better to you. Back into my cave to enjoy my little show.

Yeah I decided that I will skip the two last episodes of wwdits and just get away from the fandom for a while, the online discourse it's hurting me and I am phisicaly sick to my stomach
I don't think ep 9 was absolutely dreadful and being honest I like when things become trashy beyond repair (I watched most of Riverdale and supernatural for fun) but the fandom response always gets me and I think the fandom has all the right to be angry and upset but still the "vibes" are not for me
And I just want to remind anyone else that you doesn't owe loyalty to a show or fandom if this episode was too much for you you can mute the tags and stay away for a while or for ever don't torture yourself just to be "part of something"

Y’know, I think one of the most refreshing things for me in WWDITS s4 has been the categorical refusal to turn Nadja into a mommy. It would have been so, so easy to do it and I think most shows would’ve.
I mean, how many times have we seen it, both IRL and on tv? A baby shows up, someone needs to take care of it, the only woman around goes into mommy mode because ~that’s just what women do~ and it’s what they’re expected to do. I was fully expecting Laszlo to adopt Baby Colin and for Nadja to end up coparenting with him. She’s his wife, after all.
But then that absolutely did not happen. If anything, I think I’d go so far as to say that she’s the least maternal and/or paternal person in the building. It’s not that she hates children or anything; she’s just physically incapable of telling one apart from a raccoon. Which is also nice. Some writers are so bad at writing women with complex desires that any woman who doesn’t want to be a mother is automatically turned into some unfair “baby-hating harpy” stereotype.
Laszlo has taken this child under his wing and loves him, even if he’s not always the best father. Guillermo also loves Colin, and though he’s not his father, he’s probably the most paternal (and probably also maternal) out of any of the people there. (And I feel like they’re also breaking down stereotypes about what it means to be paternal vs. maternal but that’s a whole separate essay.) Nandor is at least willing to hang out with the boy and has displayed highly paternal instincts in previous episodes.  But literally Nadja’s only interest in Baby Colin is how she can make money off of him, and that’s so valid. lmao
It’s especially nice because Nadja clearly does value family. It seems to be one of her primary drives, in fact. She brings up her family more than any other character, even though they’ve all been dead for hundreds of years, she’s more than willing to defend her (again, deceased) family’s honor, and it’s what finally started to break down barriers between her and Guillermo. Nadja very much values family. She just does not want to be a mother.
She does not want Guillermo to see her as a mother figure. She wants no part in parenting Baby Colin. She displays the maternal instincts of your average old boot. Nadja is not a mommy.
And the show never once judges her for that.
(I mean, Guillermo might, but he has his own issues. lmao)
There has never been an episode where her not caring for Colin has upset him. There has never been an episode where he’s been harmed because she’s not providing him with affection. The narrative has never once punished her for her total disinterest in the care and raising of the creature that crawled out of the body of their dead friend. There has never been any expectation that she’d take care of Colin.
The closest we’ve gotten to that was probably Guillermo complaining that none of the vampires know anything about Colin and that it’s fallen solely on him, the “nanny”, to care for him. But that seemed like an equal indictment of all the vampires and seemed kind of wrapped up in Guillermo’s own abandonment issues.
What I’m getting at here is that Nadja has never been expected to put in more work with Colin because of her gender or because her husband was the person who decided to adopt the Colin child. She’s never been expected to parent him, she’s never been expected to be maternal towards him, she’s never been expected to shift around her life plans for him. She’s just happily embezzling from her own nightclub like the insane vampiric boss she is.
And boyyyyy I love that for her. It’s so rare and so refreshing and I love this show so much.

Another reason I love this episode is because (hot take? hot take? from me?! ...) it's like.... all the characters are getting fucked over because of their own bad actions, rightly so, brilliant -- but so are we the viewers. In the best possible way.
We invested in these horrible characters, we love them. We see them being awful and we overlook it, it's just the tone, it's the universe, it's a comedy, yeah they are vampires and a serial killing human desperate to be a vampire, but look how sweet they can be! Look how sad they can be! Look how vulnerable! How queer! How like me! Don't you love them? Don't you love Dadszlo being so cute with the abomination baby as he bullies, abuses, and exploits him to try and reform him in his own image? Don't you love adorable, newly independent and girlbossy Nadja as she takes her life into her own hands, wears amazing clothes, busts unions, exploits childrens, bullies The Guide, and eats people? Don't you love sad, misguided, lonely Nandor being so endearing and child-like even as he leaves a trail of devastation in his wake? Don't you ADORE Guillermo finding confidence in himself, coming out as gay, slaying in both senses, having his family brainwashed, enabling Nandor in his fucked up wishes and abuse of Marwa, continuing to find easy victims to help the vampires murder?
And we do love them. We overlook or laugh off their fucked-up-ness, because their fucked-up-ness had no real, personal consequences for us, just as it never has consequences for them. They lulled us into a false sense of security. They let us be awful along with the characters, by giving everyone someone to empathise with, someone who appeals to them, someone whose good traits were good enough for us to overlook the bad.
And then they fuck us over. Then they betray us, by being what they always were. They do what they always do, but this time, there are consequences. This time, we the viewers are let down. Laszlo fucks over Nadja, what? How could he???? Nadja becomes a drunk, screaming at children and embarrassing herself the moment she doesn't have other people to hold her up? How could she become that??? Nandor is so far from remorse for fucking up Guillermo's relationship that he doesn't even realise why he has, only that Guillermo is mad! And, importantly for Nandermo shippers, Nandor isn't jealous because of Guillermo having someone else, he doesn't want Guillermo, he just wants what Guillermo has. Betrayed! We are betrayed!
Because of course we are! They are what they are and what they have always been!
I wonder if that is why so many people are on Team Guillermo now, because Guillermo hasn't hurt us the viewer - yet. He hasn't betrayed us and our expectations of him - yet. We haven't felt the consequences of stanning that horrible, murdering, manipulating, lying, monsterous little fucker - yet.
I personally am very much looking forward to next week's episode :)

* Freddie spoilers ahead *
A long-ass meta about vampiric morality in relation to love and happiness, I guess
There's definitely a pattern with how the love interests in this show tend to get caught in the crossfires of the vampires being selfish and cruel.
It started with Gregor-Jeff, who was cursed to be reborn time and time again only to be used by Nadja and Laszlo as a disposable plaything to spice up their marriage with, which is already a horrible fate when you think about it. As far as we're aware he got stuck spending eternity as a ghost who simply cannot complete his unfinished business because Nadja doesn't care about him. Maybe this is what always happens and he's already been reborn as another innocent person for Nadja to rip out of their normal life when she feels like she needs some excitement again.
Even Gail, who managed to mostly stay out of it by not being too invested in Nandor, ended up dead and turned into a vampire.
Then there was Toby, who was in a way a love of interest of Laszlo's, but when he got killed, Laszlo didn't even acknowledge it. In fact, he dug up his body and started wearing his clothes.
Marwa (just like the other wives) was also treated like an object, a means to an end (Nandor's personal happiness). I know we all want a satisfying resolution for her but I doubt we will get it. She had her agency ripped from her as soon as she got involved with the vampires and, just like Jeff, she likely won't get justice. She wasn't able to make Nandor happy, so she's useless to him now and that's it.
I doubt Nandor will ever regret what he did to her, he'd probably do it again to another person, just like Nadja never feels bad about Gregor. I honestly don't think they're capable of that kind of empathy.
Letting Marwa as Freddie go was, to Nandor, a major act of kindness. It stands in contrast to Nadja, who couldn't even be bothered to listen to ghost-Gregor when he was telling her how she could help him move on because she was so focused on herself.
I think Nandor genuinely believes that he did Marwa a massive favor by letting her stay in that form because she seemed happy, which is something Nandor values above all else. He's been more than willing to change things about himself in the pursuit of happiness, so why would he think Marwa would mind not being herself?
What he did was inexcusable to us, but he was acting entirely within his own moral framework

I think some people need to realize that this episode wasn't "Nandor suddenly does something terrible", it was " Nandor does something terrible, like he often does, but this time he actually realizes it was wrong"
