“Hmm...”
Murasaki contemplates this thoughtfully. This was a gracious request, after all. She wanted to pick the one she felt would be most to her interests. Considering the content of the story she was giving to Shakespeare, there was one that immediately stood out to her. Given similar themes, she felt it would only be fair to trade the two stories. Reaching into her sleeve, she produced a lovely scroll, upon which the Tale of Genji was written. It was an illustrated scroll, as well.
“Well then, how about ‘Romeo and Juliet’ for ‘The Tale of Genji’, then? Though I would love to read ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ as well, it sounds utterly fantastical.”
“That would be lovely. Especially if at a later date we could also invite Andersen and Lady Scheherazade to teas as well.” Shakespeare replied. There were too few Writer Servants in Chaldea and there were only so many times Shakespeare could play Hide and Seek with Nursery Rhyme before becoming burnt out.

“Oh? Scheherazade is here in Chaldea as well? I would love to have a discussion with her as well. I should read her work beforehand, however... while I was given knowledge of her work, it’s not very in-depth. But her tales sound delightful, I should brush up...”
She appeared thoughtful, lifting her sleeve-covered hand to her mouth in contemplation. She was starved for other authors in Chaldea, as much as Shakespeare was, she figured.
“Which reminds me! Would you like a copy of the Tale of Genji? Given what I know of your work, I believe it would be to your tastes.”
“That would be lovely. Especially if at a later date we could also invite Andersen and Lady Scheherazade to teas as well.” Shakespeare replied. “Hmm...”
Catherine analyzed Hektor’s response. Despite him being a great hero, she wouldn’t simply take his -word- for it. She had to judge it for herself. However, on closer inspection, she determined that his strategy did have merit. She supposed this point was defensible, now that they had driven back their enemies. However, her previous point still stood, to her. If they were to advance, they would need to press the attack. There was a specific window as their enemies were retreating where they could do this.
However, Hektor also had a point that he needed to regenerate his mana. She would allow this, but at some point they would need to get moving again. Perhaps sooner than he could regenerate fully. This would be a problem. So, her horse strode up beside Hektor, and Catherine would lean down to physically pull him up on the saddle.
“Very well then. You shall ride on horseback with me while you regain your strength. That way, we can remain mobile.”
memories-of-chaldea.
The dream-like visions of an imperial Russian palace faded away as her noble phantasm’s effects ended. Catherine sat side-saddle on her white horse, regal and imposing as ever, as she surveyed the now empty battlefield. Another fight won, she thought. A confident smirk spread on her face. As if there was any doubt of this victory. The empress’ steed strode forward a few feet, seemingly carrying the same baring as it’s rider.
With an imperious gaze, she regarded Hektor. The hero of Troy and her had been assigned by their master to stop the advancing forces. She didn’t mind much, to have such a legendary soldier under her command. At least, that was how she personally viewed it. And he certainly took advantage of her noble phantasm by using it to empower his own unstoppable spear, so he had sufficiently proved his competence.
“My noble phantasm is empowered by the glory of Russia, after all. Of course it is powerful.”
She gave a little haughty chuckle as she said this. She was clearly proud of her abilities as a heroic spirit. She looked over the man as he lit up a cigarette. Seemed he wanted to stop. She sighed a little, but looked forward to check if the enemy was advancing. They seemed to be stopped for the moment. The coast was clear, for now. She would return her gaze to Hektor.
“Hmm… I shall grant your request for a momentary respite, in my benevolence. But make it brief, there is no telling if they will advance again soon, and we will need to use our momentary advantage and press the attack.”
She’s a prideful woman, clearly, but she’s earned that pride in herself. Hektor was looking forward to figuring out her limits on the battlefield, since he had seen her around before. Any stranger, especially the deeply confident sort, Hektor wishes to watch fight. She hasn’t let him down so far.
He watches her contemplatively, meeting her haughty gaze with an unconcerned, sleepy expression. (It’s a bit difficult to intimidate Hektor, she’ll discover that on her own time.) He takes a drag of his cigarette. “Thanks. If they press forward for now, though, we’re relatively secure in this place. Now that we’ve taken it, it won’t be hard to defend, if they come to us.” It’s a strategy he’s more used to, but it also allows an easier effort… if the monsters here are the sort to stage an offensive. Hektor’s not too worried about taking a brief break. The time it takes him to smoke a cigarette will be fine.
“I’m not capable of regenerating mana as fast as the cavalry classes are, either. If we go up against another wave right now, my phantasm won’t be immediately usable.” There are real reasons he wants to pause, other than sheer laziness and a smoke. The waves thus far have been large, a bit too much for Hektor to attack one by one and feel like he’s actually doing anything.

“Yes, I am aware of that as well. I truly hope your experience was better than mine... I found the court of Empress Shoshi terribly dull, petty, and restrictive. I truly felt that the flower of my soul wilted in that environment, so I hope your dealings with the court of England was far better to you in life. However, to return the topic of discussion to something more uplifting, would you enjoy a conversation sometime, perhaps over tea? I would greatly enjoy comparing narratives.”

“Ah… fellow authors here in Chaldea. I’m glad to see that, those also skilled in writing and poetry. I am Caster, but you may call me Murasaki. I would enjoy having conversations with both of you sometime, as I am familiar with both of your works now, thanks to the Throne of Heroes.”

“That would be lovely. Sir Andersen, your fairy tales are quite fantastical. I especially enjoy ‘The Little Mermaid’. How tragic her love was, but how devoted she was to it. It is quite a touching story, actually.”

You do not see it arrive, but a letter addressed to you was in your sights. The handwriting on it was delicate and prim, and the envelope was sealed with red wax with a peculiar symbol on it resembling a crown and a pair of wings.
“If you have received this letter, then congratulations! You have been invited to the Grand Servant Gala in the royal castle of Avalon for a two-week ball of epic proportions. The halls will be decked with the grandest of decorations, only the greatest of performers will be playing the music, and delicacies from all over the world and worlds beyond will be served. The occasion will be grand, and of no cost to you. Simply lay this letter on the surface on a nearby body of water, and your RSVP will be received.
The patrons of Avalon await a positive response.
~ Queen Vivian.”
And so the Grand Servant Gala begins again! It was an extreme success last year, so I have decided to host it again! If you are interested in taking part of the event, simply like or reblog this post! Reblogs are greatly appreciated to spread the word around, but is not required!

The field is currently empty, though that’s a new development. Hektor stabs Durindana into the ground so his hands are free, though the blade is still fire-hot. “That reality marble of yours is really nice. You sure saved me out there.” They’ve been out on a mission, just himself and this commandeering Rider, whom Hektor has largely left in charge because she seems to enjoy that sort of role. But– she’s a useful compatriot to have.
More or less. He pulls a cigarette out of the pack on his belt and lights it with a flick of his armoured fingers, the mana to make the tiny flame out of nothing still lingering easily around, after his usage of his noble phantasm.
However, Hektor makes no motion to continue on their progress through the field.
“But for now, gimmie a few seconds to recharge, will you? This old man isn’t exactly sprightly.”

Magoichi would wag his finger, looking to to Munenori with a bit of a fake pout on his face. Chaos? That wasn’t it at all. Seems the other samurai didn’t quite understand why exactly he fought against Oda Nobunaga.
“Chaos isn’t exactly what I seek. I fought against the Oda clan because they tried to stamp out those who didn’t agree with them. So I’m more interested in the enterprise of freedom, not ‘chaos’. And if everything ends? Well then that’s not exactly good for anyone. So I’ll protect Master and make sure their mission is a success.”
"Hoh. Has my Master employed yet another samurai?" His looks are befitting of one, at the very least. (here we go, it's time)
Magoichi was sat there, arquebus slung over his shoulder, as he looked at the elder samurai. They were from different eras, certainly. But they were definitely both of the samurai class.
“Yup, guess so. Saika Magoichi, archer class.”

“Ah! The retainer of the Tokugawa and practitioner of Shinkage-ryu. After my time, of course.”
Magoichi’s way of speaking was rather informal. He approached Munenori as if they were equals, whether or not the older samurai saw them as such or not. He’d then chuckle good-naturedly, nodding to the man.
“Well, at least you weren’t serving the Oda.”

Augustus chuckled as Arturia advanced toward him. He liked her spirit, this would certainly be a worthy fight. He maintained a strong stance, waiting for her to come to him. When she came down to strike, he’d lift his gladius to intercept the strike. He recoiled a bit, not quite expecting the force of the strike she was able to dish out. It WAS a legendary blade he was up against, though. He shouldn’t have been too surprised.
“Well... I am actually a Rider, but do not underestimate my prowess because of that!”
He’d shift his weight to send the strike to the side. With her to the side, he’d attempt a quick strike with the pommel of his sword before attempting a cross slash against Arturia.
memories-of-chaldea:
@artorily
Augustus, the charismatic emperor, would approach Saber Lily with a bright smile on his face. Drawing his sword, it would seem he was here to answer her request for a fight! He wore glittering red and silver Roman armor with golden accents, truly befitting the first emperor of the Roman Empire.
“Britain’s King of Knights, I see! If you wish to test your mettle, then I would be honored to be your sparring partner. We shall create a display of martial prowess worthy of the gods themselves.”
He spoke calmly, but with clear passion in his voice.
With that kind of gaudy armor? she wants to say; though, now that she thinks on it, she’s seen things equally strange adorning the Servants about Chaldea. She can’t underestimate him; indeed, that Roman-style sword is already drawn, answering her wishes with his own. “Likewise, Roman Saber! I shall be honored to face you!”
In the next instant, she’s charging at him, Caliburn drawn and brought above her head for a strong downwards strike. “Ha—h!”

@camelotica
Mulan would approach the King of Knights with a calm and respectful demeanor. The magecraft that normally disguised her as a man was not active, so Arturia would see her for who she was. This was definitely intentional on Mulan’s part. As she approached, she would bow to Arturia with her hand on her sword hilt, to keep it in place.
“You are Arturia, King of Camelot, yes?”
She would begin. Her more stern face would become softer, a subtle smile growing on her face. Her demeanor was still calm, but she was also becoming warmer.
“I am Hua Mulan, a simple soldier, and another Saber. I wanted to meet you, I think we would have much in common.”
