Hey folks, this is not your typical post about incorrect quotes.

I want to address a serious issue today, and most of you probably know what’s been going on in the US.

The killing of George Floyd started another serious and necessary debate on Police brutality in the states. (And I think not just there. Every country is affected in some way or another.)

My heart doesn’t ache, no. My heart is bleeding and crying out of pain about what has been going on for days now. What people have been going through for years and years. This is not the first case of police brutality against POC, nor the second, and it probably isn’t the last one.

It happened so many times already that I can’t count them all. Our world has lost so many beautiful souls to this never-ending issue. Additionally to this, we lost so many brothers and sisters of color who were part of the LGBTQ+ community too. Even though it is pride month, I can’t enjoy and celebrate it as much as I want to.

But now is the time to act. Now more than ever! We all have a voice, and I’m sure as hell using mine. And I want you to do the same.

Everyone’s able to do something. Even if you don’t have the money to donate, or you’re not from the US, share articles, draw attention to it in some way. Being silent about this puts you on the side of the offenders.

a/n: this is just a little snippet of an idea i’ve had for a while. it’s a bit sloppy, but i’m gonna post it anyway. please leave feedback, and let me know if y’all would want me to continue it!

“Where are we going?” you giggled, slightly stumbling due to the blindfold blocking your vision.

“Be patient! We’re almost there!” Troy, the guy you were dating, was guiding you forward, as he had been for the last ten minutes.

“Okay, are you ready?” he practically shouts over the loud voices around you.

You nod impatiently and gently take your blindfold off, trying desperately to avoid smudging your eye makeup. It takes a few moments for your eyes to adjust, but once they do, your jaw immediately hits the floor.

You stood third in a line filled with men and women, all in the age range between what seemed to be 12 to 30 years old, leading to a backdrop all too familiar for you. Shawn stands there back to back with a fan, fake brooding towards the camera, a classic meet-and-greet photo.

Your heart immediately aches in your chest at the sight of your previous boyfriend of two years. The two of you had only recently split up six months prior, due to his management team forcing a ridiculous PR relationship onto him. You both didn’t want to lose the connection you had, but as time went on and his fake relationship got more publicity, it led to constant fighting. That alone was enough to break your heart considering your entire relationship had been full of communication and understanding; fights that serious never happened. However, when you began dating Troy a little less than a month ago, you’d failed to mention this.

“Surprise!” Troy says excitedly, breaking you from your thoughts. “Are you excited?”

Still stuck in a trance, you could hardly utter any words out of your mouth. “I.. uh- yeah. This is -um, this is amazing.”

Shawn hugged a fan once more after getting their photo taken and whipped his head in the direction of the next person in line. You. Your eyes locked on each other’s, and the tension between the two of you was so thick, it was practically palpable. Troy’s hand brushed your lower back to push you forward some.

“Go babe, it’s your turn.”

Your ex’s honey eyes quickly darted away from your own and landed on Troy’s hand. With a tight set jaw and now rosy cheeks, Shawn greeted the two of you as if he had no idea who you were.

“Hi, it’s so nice to meet you guys.” Shawn plasters a smile on his face, but you knew him enough to know it was anything but real. His hand reaches out to Troy’s first and gives a firm hand shake before turning to you. Shawn opens his arms and takes you in them, and you can practically feel both of your hearts beating out of your chests. You pull away quickly, wanting to look as though you were just a typical fan.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you, man! My girl here is obsessed with your music. She practically listens to you 24/7.” Troy explains, trying to show the artist your admiration for his talent.

Shawn’s mouth turned up into a witty smirk and directed his attention towards you.

“Oh is that right? That’s awesome. What’s your favorite songs on the newest album?” He asked, his voice laced with the slightest bit of amusement.

You don’t even hesitate before answering his question. “I’d say my two favorite are ‘Because I Had You’ and ‘Why’. Your emotions just sound so good and real. You must’ve really been in love with the muse for that song.”

Shawn’s hazel eyes search yours, both of you knowing the game being played here. His cheeks flush once more, and a sad smile crosses his face. “Yeah, I am in love with that muse.”
