passed down like folksongs, the love lasts so long

It’s a warm day in June when the dead start to wake.
They’ve not been cold in their graves, or laid out in coffins. These are the folk who lay still and quiet in their homes, or hospital beds. The ones who have been out of time.
It’s the summer solstice, and the ghost-locked are waking up.
Norrie White wakes up.

if you’re taking prompts (and no worries if not): i’d love to see some injured lucy with lots of comfort from lockwood. maybe she gets hurt on a job and hides it (because she still thinks people only value her for her talent) until it’s too much. lockwood reminds her that both he and george care about her and want her to be safe
hi there! this is such a cute idea. I'll ponder it and see if I can work it into something. I do have another sick fic idea I've been working on that has some elements of this, too.

“I know you’re worrying about me, Luce, but you really mustn’t. We’re there to help each other. If we do that, we’ll get through.”
Which was a lovely thing to say, and it made me feel a little warmer. I just had to hope it was true.

Twenty stitches.
That’s how many sutures and staples it took to piece Lockwood’s chest back together after it had been ripped apart.
Lucy hadn’t even been back at Lockwood & Co. for five weeks, and now she was living her worst nightmare, sitting next to Lockwood in a dreary hospital room.

"Come home and shout at me. Come home and fight with me. Come home and break my heart, if you must. Just come home."
Dropping a very special Sketch-a-wish, voted on by my lovely Patreon members for August!
The winning request was to illustrate an off-page scene from The Folk of the Air series, when Cardan was writing his letters to Jude.
I countered that Cardan went through the five stages of grief writing those letters, and each deserved it's own illustration. (Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, Acceptance) You'll also notice some familiar outfits throughout!
Have a great weekend. :)

I love how stroud created a sort of tied ending for the books and symbolised the development of lockwood and lucy’s relationship through necklaces. each one of them is a physical representation of the feelings blossoming between them, and since neither of them is emotionally able to put these feelings into words, I wrote a very tiresome 1700-word essay about that
[WARNING: major spoilers for all five books + the netflix show]

going to actually finish and post of one of the 6 one shots I'm 80% of the way done with tomorrow. just posting this for accountability as I'm driving myself crazy over here with my inability to finish anything.

I was wrong about George. He didn’t hate my guts. He actually turned out to be a bit of a hero. Which is good. Lockwood almost died a thousand times, but I think he’s decided he’s better off alive. Which is really good. And Lucy Carlyle? She’s doing all right. She feels stronger. Less scared of her talent. Less scared of everything.
